Thread: PvP, Master Doc and WHAT?!?!

Ok, some background: I have been several "elite" professions, BH, Commando, etc.

I had a holo profession of Fencer, which I liked, Master Doc, which I cursed, and Chef, which almost made me quit...

After mastering Doc, I LOVE it...Thoroughly. I love the support mechanism that it is. And the money isn;t bad either...

I will keep Doc for quite some time, if not all the time I have left in SWG. My question is this:

I am now Master Sword. Master Doc. A small amount of Scout for Harvesting. and no points left.

I want to get back into PvP. Not for single person PvP, but for raids and so forth. But getting down and dirty with sword in a 25 person battle usually only gets me one thing. Dead. And as I am usually the ONLY Doc on our side in that raid, guess who clones? As a master Doc, Master Sword, and some high ken armor, I can drop just about any MOB reasonably easily. A few cause problems, but most do not.

I know TKM is FOTM, and truly anticipate some kinda nerf before long, not that they need it mind you, but because they cannot fix any other class, they will have to break one that works....

What is a good Ranged profession that will allow me to contribute sufficiently in PvP, while maintaining my responsibilities as a Doc, but still will allow me fun and somewhate self sufficiency in PvE?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'muse a Doctor/Rifleman combo for PvPing and I think it works really well.Once I hit master Doc I migrated all my stats to my mind so ashuman I have 1100 Mind and 950 focus and will. Add in some Fishkak, Bivoli and Muon and I'm hitting around 2k in mind and 2.5-3k in all my other stats, then the pain begins.

Simply put, none.

I played carbs for a long time and I'm master doc. I hated it, all I did was run in circles and try not to get owned while healing myself. With carbine I used so much action and health that I couldn't wear armor because I had to heal every 10 seconds and all the shots were busted. Not something I would advise

I can't attest for Pistol... I've seen some pretty ripped pistols but they won't be soloing Rancors like we can either.

As for rifle.... support class only, you can'y hit ANYTHING while moving, one shot doesn't kill anything, conceal shot is nice until they spot you and swarm, you can't wear armor due to mind usage which makes you a sitting duck when something comes and eats you. Basically if your going to have rifle bring your running shoes.

Now I'm sure that everyone is going to jump on me and tell me I'm wrong I am... at 3/3/2/3 heavy swords and master doc I was soloing ancient bull rancors last night (I was buffed) and winning. I'm not intrested in PvP as I hate getting dizzy knocked down which is the only thing that happens or lit on fire

If you're looking for a template to help with raids, then think about Master Doctor / Master Combat Medic. Your combat skills won't be as good, but with AoE and Ranged healing along with poison and disease you can make any group more dangerous. When I use to hunt with some friends as a MD/CM I could buff everyone in the group, toss stims from 40M, launch a poison or disease at our opponent, and rez anyone that made a mistake. Plus I would get in a few health shots with my pistol from time to time. We always went out with another Doctor with /reviveplayer. I would act as the group healer and if I got killed he would stop attacking and rez me so I could keep healing.

I've done well in group PVP with all ranged.

I stay away from rifle though too much of a double hit on the mind pool. Healing and Rifle specials can eat the mine sooooo fast.

Carbine is ok, if you don't spam like a monkey.

Pistol is ok too, but you have to get a bit closer (if you aren't a feeb using a republic blaster with busted stats).

Melee is ok, as long as you have another healer. Everone a nd their cousin has novice medic... but most of them won't heal you in PVP (I actually asked a guy once why not and he said "bacause stims are expensive, I don't wanna waste then on other people." I said, I'd remember that next time he wanted a heal from me).

There are actually about as many healers in gorup PVp as there are people fighting. GZood luck ever getting one of them to heal anyone else though.

I agree with Travain,

I was master doc, and almost master pistoleer b4 I made the switch. Never looked back. Cm is a blast. But don't expect a high kill ratio. (You kill them : They Kill you) but if you really like team play the team ratio is (You responsbile for 60% of damage that gets them killed : They Kill you.) Which taking one for the team isn't bad.

Try Master Doc-Master CM. It's been a blast in PvP as 90% of the people dont undersand CM and how/why to kill you before they are dying. Also it's the ony profession (I think) you can use an Aoe or ranged attack that targets a HAM bar YOU specify. You wont kill much, you'll die often, but the team loves ya! It's a team players dream, as your offense is strong, your defense is weak.

Have fun either way you go.

"As for rifle.... support class only, you can'y hit ANYTHING while moving,"

This is a flat out lie ..... As a TKM/MDoc, the ONLY thing in PvP that truly annoys me at the moment are the cowardly,skill-less,kiting riflemen. These guys can mind shoot/DB you from 60m, seemingly at will (whichI don't mind).... however, when I get within point-blank-range, they continue to mind hit me, shot after shot, as they kite me around the battlefield. A rifleman, kiting me at point-blank-range????? I can't hit him (thanks to the stupid knockdown timer) but he can shoot his big, stupid rifle at me, over his shoulder, and hit seemingly every **edit** time????

Now, I dont' care if it's a pistoleer or a carbineer doing this: it makes sense. Both of those professions are somewhat underpowered with regard to their specials and AR attack strength. But, to be kited, at point-blank-range, by a riflemen who can attack the mind even more powerfully/systematically than BH's, is just a bit ridiculous.

It's no surprise that every PvPer out there has gone for rifleman now. TKA is not the FOTM (it's just the 'funnest'/best flavor : ) ) Rifleman is the FOTM.

Expect to see more and more Rifleman/Doctor or Rifleman/TKA's out there ...... at least, until the nerf bat starts swinging.

Now, if that was a smart rifleman, he wouldn't even need to kite you... A good jawa rifle and those guys can do 400 mind damage per second, right through that 80% composite.

But, a rifleman with a jawa rifle is really the only thing that a doc/cm needs to fear... Not commandos, since burn wounds are capped at total pre-buff health (oh no, 700 wounds to my 3.5k health pool!). Not TKMs or carbineers, since we can heal dizzy/kd within 2 seconds every time. Not bounty hunters, since we can wear really heavy armor... Not other cms, since we can heal poison and disease...

Just remember all those mind buffs... Dancer buffs, musician buffs, fishak, muon, vercupti, and glazed glucose are all very helpful... And remember, you can drink 2 fishaks or eat two glucoses... And, of course, since you're a master doc and should most certainly be buffed all the time, wear the best suit of composite you can afford...

I'm an MD/4-3-0-4 cm/0-0-4-0 pistoleer... I sacrifice the ability to use area poison Cs to keep fanshot and the second pistol bleed (and +50 dizzy/kd resistance)...

Hmm i Had mastered Doc and Combat med but eventualy ditched the combat med and went with master swords.. And it kicks arse =) being buffed all the time and being able to bleed a person or creatures mind pool rocks also the area attacks are good and master swords just looks so good in battle. Plus being a master doc and being buffed all the time makes it very easy to master a fighting class you can kill what most novice's couldnt so you get xp way faster. In pvp swords is realy good because you damage the mind pool and they cant heal themselves
