Thread: Disclaimer for randomness of buffs, good idea

I think having your customers read a disclaimer that explains the randomness of the buffs is a great idea. You can have it in a macro or just put it in your bio and have your customers read it before you buff them. Well, here's my problem. I can't, for the life of me, come up with a good professional disclaimer, lol. I've tried to write it a couple of times but it sounded stupid.

so can the docs that use a disclaimer before buffing share with the rest of us what their disclaimer is? it would be helpful, it would make docs look more professional and save docs alot of headache and grief.

/reply 10k for 3+ hour buffs. Results are random, duration is guaranteed. /tip when ready

How about this: cash up front and if you don't like the buffsyou getfeel free to never ask me for a buff again.

it's people with that attitude (you know the one ... ehh... those buffs weren't worth what i paid for em ... or the ones who DO get exceptional buffs that don't notice how good they were) who have made me stop buffing strangers completely.

I needed a quick 50k xp for my last CM box, so decided to trek to Coronet and do the buff-for-credits thing.

Of course, no spamming needed. Just pulled my 3PO look alike droid and changed my tag from 'Guardsman' to 'Master Doctor'.

When I was asked how much, I replied with a quick note and request to tip me when I began. This seemed to work for everyone. I also healed a few wounds, rezed a few who had lingering stats buffed and needed the DB work-around, and otherwise did my doctor thing.

Of course, buffing 15 times or so meant there were a few sub-1000 hits. I politely said, in spatial, 'yikes' and then posted the next stat which was always much higher...sometimes +2800. I also said in spatial that the two paks were the same strength and emoted *sigh*.

No one complained or gave me grief. We shared the desire to have a more reliable system and I think everyone knew it was not my fault.

I guess the point is, I used a little humility and customer service to make the hour or so I spent there pleasant and profitable. I know it does not always go like this...but last night it did.

Developers: please give Master Doctors a 1.5 base multiplierin the NEXT hotfix. We deserve it and so do our patients.

The base is fine. a 1.5 base multiplier would nto affect the randomness of the buffs, which starts off the base and then has a "roll" that affects the percentage of that buff you actually get. Much like crafting rolls, there are crit good and crit fails, as well as several flavors in between.

1000 pt buffs are good. They are way better then not having any buffs at all.

I have a 'disclaimer' macro that I pull out when I'm buffing for money. Its as follows:

/say My lawyers are forcing me to tell you the following..;
/pause 2;
/say I charge 12k for buffs. No refunds. That's 3 missions at 4k per mission to pay for the buff. You should be able to run at least 3 missions in 2-3 hours.
/pause 10;
/say Please do not tip me until I am ready to buff you!;
/pause 6;
/say The buffs are random. Please do not complain to me about whether a buff sucked bad or not. Check out the doctors forums and you will find us asking for more regularity in the buffing ranges. No, we have not found the 'trick' to hitting the highest buff each time.
/pause 10;
/say Remember, have fun, its just a game, and may the force be with you!

I've told some players that a 900 buff is better than zero. Only one snot-nosed brat has ever disagreed with me about it. They'll never get a 900 buff for 3 hours from food or spice, and I don't think a TKM can power booster a 3 hour buff.

I used to offer partial refunds for sub-1000 buffs. It was good for customer service, but then I realized that I'm not getting a partial charge back on my medpack for sub-1000 buffs. So I've put an end to that. Luckly, no one has ever asked for a partial refund since I stopped offering them. I've been ready to ask them to return the charge to my medpack and I'll refund the credits, but never needed to use that line.
