Thread: Master Doctor Overpopulation?

Well, I'm starting to see a friggin' ton of Master Doctor's now since I've made it and started to wonder if we are the profession that will be the most "master overpopulated". I was on Endor, did a simple search for curiousity, and found FIVE Master Doctor's in one area. Seems like we might become the "McDonald's of Master Professions" if we are not careful. Already, Master Docs are selling full buffs for under 4k (I thought the going was 1k per stat... Since no one seems interested in the Doctor Terminal Idea & Voting thread [yes, the one at the top of your screen...], I'm interested as to how can we nerf our prof's income source like this and doom ourselves to eternal medicine making?), insane meds from Ako fruit hording resource docs, and . What's the general consensus? Are we doomed to a quick and painful profession death since everyone is now doing the Doc thing? Will 500-600+ Stim Bs make us wait for eternity for the wounded in our little doctor's offices and slaving over factory production?

Master is needed if you have any desire to actually craft to make money. I think this provides a pretty strong incentive to master where as with many other professions dabblers are the rule.

It's also not that hard to master doc - you could theroretically do it all in a crowded cantina/med center like in anchorhead and then spend one day grinding out the crafting part. The nature of this game is that you eventually master your profession and experience no longer matters. So, unless people quit the profession or the game, eventually anyone who wants to be a master doc will attain that level. Maybe they will add other things for us masters to attain eventually.

But as the Devs are aware of, we have no special skills other than craft Enhance D and the overrated Wound E. We cannot even possibly compare to the complexity and difficulty of getting a Master designation like Master Bounty Hunter. I just went to Dathomir and there was another Master Doc camped out giving buffs to everyone. Now, it's like there are territories that certain docs feel are their "turf". This is absurd: can anyone tell me why so many people are taking the profession up? It seemed at launch that a very minority were even considering. Now, it seems like everyone is converting to and grinding through the profession. Can someone list the main reasons why the profession has now gone from the obscure to the popular?

Also, there seems to be an underground "competition" for the best med creation. I had a great conversation with another master today and we traded some waypoints for resources openly. First time for this: any other conversation on the topic of good resource locations has resulted in nothing. It seems hording is becoming fashionable and "showing up" others by making more "impressive" meds is now the competitive doctor trend. Frankly, I got in to this prof to help people, I could care less about making millions or hording so that others are at a disadvantage. I don't have tremendous amounts of time or interest to track all the resources that seem to change every month anyway. Plus, I'm not interested in getting over 800,000 Ako and draining the planet with 7 Large harvesters to corner the market quickly (yes, someone actually did this. coordinated with friends and basically drained the planet). And then's there's Petro 4, the mystery resource. I don't enjoy a game that favors playing 24/7. Why aren't the admins monitoring this hording or resources? I thought the game was for casual gamers, not systemic horders controllering resources and availability. Couple this with the McDonald's factor for mastering and I still say we need to be concerned.

You can do it in a day...it complements just about everything...buffing is one of the most valuable skills in the game...being MD makes it easy jump into a group.

More doctors is a good thing. It means less people will bug me.

"HEAL ME!" "REVIVE ME!" "BUFF ME!" "CURE ME!" And most expect me to do it for free of course since i guess i still need exp at master doctor

Had to reply about the 'draining the planet' part. Devs have said that resource mining has no effect on shifting of resources. So that resource would have left in 6 days no matter whether there were 25 heavies on it or none.

Saw this for myself when ditanium steel (one of the T21 needs) finally popped on Bria. There musta been literally 100+ heavies on it in one area in coriella, and it still stayed in the ground for 2 weeks. If resource draining was real, that steel woulda been gone in 2 days.

As to why people lay down 7 heavies...when I see that 950 OQ, 950 PE dant berry come up, I'm sure gonna drop as many on it as I can so I can stockpile it against future 100 OQ 200 PE berries.

I hear you on the Dant berries, SlimJim

Well there might be an oversupply of Doctor's as "flavour of the month" but eventually the tide will turn. Consider the opening month of SWG... there were more Artisans around than you could throw a powerup at.

Then there was the Pistoleer epidemic.

And now we have Pok-e-mon and Bounty Hunter Wars.

Having a doc in a group definitely saves time when one of your party members gets DB'ed 5000m from the nearest clone centre.... but personally I love grouping with a good combat medic.

Wait until Politician and Vehicle engineers appear... I suspect half the doctors will vanish then

hahaha my only complaint about so many doctors is its become harder to setup your harvestors. I remember when i started setting them up, there was like 3-6 other doctors out there on the adv planets. Now.. well there are FIELDS of them on Lok and Dantooine. So now its a question of how fast you find it, and how many harvestors you can drop around it or to find that proverbial spot out in the middle of nowhere with no one there.

And more doctors is fine with me especially now that i see more doctorsgoing around buffing. Makes me happy that no one bugs me for buffs. I don't go to adv planets to buff people, i go there to hunt.

I suspect a lot of these Master Doctors are buffbots played by someone with two accounts. Err, not played. Whatever

Bingo!

Most of the buffbots aren't interested in crafting, they just got master doc for the +25% to buffs. I think they're some of my best customers.

I had an easy time selling my stim-b's at first, but that market kept getting more and more competetive. In the end, I got out of the med market and went into the med resource market. I now sell basic ingredients to all those other docs. It's a good living.

More docs isn't necessarily bad. It isn't necessarily good.

I will point out that despite our problems, this profession basically works. Our only problem is that all those critters out there keep PC's from getting us wounded, and thus denying us our primary role as wound healers.

Um.. you DO realize that this is not DAoC right? Doctors don't use up "concentration" as you buff someone. All you need to do is mosy on over to any city/shuttle and ask doctor for buff and you'll be good to go for 2 hrs or so.

If anyone have two account, I'd imagine they would go CH/CM(DOC) and BH(Commando)/Pistoleer combo most likely.

To think anyone would waste whole account on "buffbot" Doc is.... interesting
