I got one question, I'm a doc 2-4-3-4 atm and make and use enhance c's, but sometimes it seems I don't get value for my experimentation.

Even though I have great successes and two-three experimentation points left the duration sometimes just stops at 6609 seconds or the power just stops at 441. What's with that?

I play on Chimaera which hasn't the best resources now, but I'm using ABEC 13 power 20 charges, ASDS 56 power, ACDM 54 power, and 876 OQ/564 PE Avian and 910OQ 610 DR Gas.

Is there limitations on how far I can take it with certain resources?

And one more thing, why can I only experiment 8-9 points on effectiveness on ALS for instance even though I have 10 exp points?

Thanks.

Oh, and I craft them near a droid with food/chem station if that counts for anything.

It's because the resource quality is limiting you on how good of a thing you can make. THat is a huge part of what tha 66/33 ration of OQ and PE are all about in the schematic. You want to get as High an OQ and PE (and in some cases UT and DR as well) to get the highest possible level of expereimentability. You also want the highest Maleability to improve your chanes of experimenting successfully.

The key to a long duration of the buff lies in...*drumroll*....thedurabillity of the resource. Usually doctors will sell their own mother to get their hands on resources of high OQ. That's all very well and fine, but often you will see that the DR value will be quite low. Ofcourse, when it comes to avian meat and tatoonian fiberplast and other specific resources, you can't make a choice. You'll just have to use what's available. In any case; a high value of DR on the resource will give you ahigh duration of the end product. Given the choice, I personally go for power over duration.

You can easily find yourself in the situation where you cannot experiment anymore on an item, even though you have the points to do it. That little progress bar below the bar where you allocate your experimentation points, shows the maximum achievable value you will be able to get (it's purpleand progress is show in yellow after you have experimented). When that progress bar is all yellow, you cannot experiment anymore. You can choose to use the remaining experimentation points on "ease of use" or "charges". So yes, the resources has its limitation that you cannot overcome, regardless of how great a doctor you are.

And finally: When you experiment a buff for effectiveness you are simultaniously experimenting for duration. This means that even should you only get a "good succes" you may see the effectiveness rise as you expected, but the duration may not rise as much. If at all. The succes is an average of the two. The average of "amazing succes" and "good succes" is a "great succes".

Good luck with your experimentation.

I should note one more thing that I think I was unclear on. In the case of Power and Duration they use two different attributes (one uses OQ/PE the other uses OQ/DR). Both of those things are experimented on the same bar, but in actuality it rolls two seperate experimentation rolls (as Gilbert mentioned.) However the other point to keep in mind about that is that it is possible (probable, even) that the experimental cap for one of thsoe formulas will be lower than the other. So if you Duration caps out, because of a lower DR, at 70%, but your Power woudl cap out at 90% the bar will be as long a 90%. It will stop experimenting on DR (and cap it) at 70%, however.
