Thread: New Med Droid Idea
Doctors put their buff packs inside the droid and a player selects the buff they want through a radial menu...as the player selects there buff, the credits are deducted and the player is buffed with the buff they selected. Prices are set by the Doctor of course.
These droids can only be placed in player city hospitals and you have to have certification to use the droid...the higher the certification the more buffs you can give your droid to use on players; not sure on what tree to place certification levels.
Also you can ban factions from using your droid. Dont want Imps or Rebs getting buffed in your hospital only to attack the city.
Advantage:
1. New droid for DE to build.
2. Doctors can make money while off-line.
3. Dont have massive amount of tells for buffs.
Disadvantage:
1. none.

well if a droid can do our job what exactly do u need a doctor for??
so I would have to say the disadvantage would be you just stopped the reason a lot of doctors play for. And for someone like you who is so hung on RP I would think you want to have more doctors rather than none.

The problem with this would be doctors could absolutely make a frikkin killing with absolutely minimal amounts of time invested. For instance, I make my own buffs, I load them into a droid who parks pretty much any traveled place in the galaxy, come back a day or two later and it's made millions upon millions of credits while I'm off doing anything I want. Each moneymaking thing in the game has a dynamic of costing your character actual time in order to see the rewards. Even a "buff-bot" character has to use its time sitting somewhere instead of being used to do other things.
This is an awesome idea from the perspective or the lazy doctor who just wants to make money, but in reality people would b**tch and moan simply because it'd be way too easy to load up, collect money, rinse and repeat.

Agreed that artisans are in much the same position. The delineating factor here that I see is Doctors have a much narrower range of "in demand" items...specifically we are required to make stims, buffs, rez kits, and poison and disease cures. Buffs take the most amount of time but a full set of buffs only requires 2 factory components and probably 4 runs of parts. For another master crafter (read weaponsmith and armorsmith) they have a much broader range of items they must produce and have much more complicated schematics.
Weaponsmiths=lots of time and lots of money, armorsmiths the same thing. Doctors put in a medium amount of time and get back the same amount of money. It just seems like doctors need to be intimately tied to the process as it is one of our skills and not simply something we create and another person has to have the skill to use it. Whereas a smith makes a gun is not able to specifically use it, we create buffs and must use them for them to be of any use.
Arguments aside for the 'realism' factor and such, it would be too great a moneymaking scheme for Doctors and the DEVS would never allow us to do this now that the current system is so entrenched.
