Hey!!
I am fairly new to Master Doctor... and so far I LOVE it! My frustration lies in a couple of different areas though... (hope you're ready for a LONG one!)
First: Crafting randomness. Now I know that crafting in this game is BY NATURE random and that you are bound to get the occasional critical failure... hey, dem's the breaks. But last night I got more failures and sub-standard buff packs (under 800) then ever before! Granted it was only like the third set I've made.... but it was still unnerving! I made THREE constitution packs in a row under 800 before I got a +800. Now granted not ALL of my resources are 900 qualities (700 was lowest I think), but I was still surprised at the amount of cruddy resultsI got. I was wondering if anyone else hashad this happen before... or maybe I just happened get lucky with my first 2 rounds.
Second: Resources and Factories! How the HECK are we supposed to balance our time between finding and harvesting high-quality resources, producing factory runs for components ... and then factory runs for and actually selling meds and buffsto MAKE the money REQUIRED to find and harvest high-quality resources?!
Double-edged sword... can't make and sell the buffs without the resources... can't find the resources unless I'm making and selling buffs! And FACTORY RUNS! Here's how it breaks down:
1. I have 2 food/chem factories which I use to pump out crates of sub-components to include inmaking buffs.
2. I have a 1 Small and 1 Medium Naboo House in which I have my +43 crafting station and in which I store my materials.
3. Since this immediately uses up5 of my slots, I have 4 left for harvesters. Now just starting out I don't have TONS of money floating around, so I have2 personal chemical extractors, 1 Mineral, and I just sprung for a heavy mineral installation and a medium Flora Harv.
My question is HOW DO YOU GUYS DO IT? How do you balance your efforts? Do I put all my harv's on ONE planet for a week, during which time I have no real way to make money to maintain them? Or do I spread them all out using 1 or two at a time... thereby gaining only a few resources at a time and taking forever to gather components to make buff packs? Maybe I'm just not being patient enough. Maybe I need to gather tons of resources first... THEN make runs, then produce buffs packs. Because as it stands now I never have TONS of resources to put in my runs, therefore I only pump out 3 or 4 crates of sub-components at the most. So that means I have limitedtime before I have to pump out MORE crates... which further delays my buff-making process.
And running only 2 factories... say I finally get to the point when I can make factory runs of buffs... I can make TWO at a time... so it will take at least a week to make a full set of all six enhancement packs... during which I'm AGAIN not making money! (As you can see... my head is SWIMMING with questions... I apologize for rambling!)
So what this all boils down to is two main issues:
1. Finding good enough resources to craft a quality buff-pack WORTH mass-producing, which is hard to do amid multiple failures and low resources.
2. Formulating a system for maintaining harvesters, producing factory runs, and selling products.
So here's where you fine more seasoned Docs can help me... tell me about YOUR system. What works for YOU? Howdo YOU balance your time so that you are both making a profit and ensuring your future success? I know you will all have some great input... and I can't wait to hear it!
Thanks in advance for putting UP with this long and pointless post!

My method is pretty simple, use the support around you. With out the help of fellow games, and alliances I have made I would not be able to do it either. I have people that regularly hunt for me and gather the meats I need in exchanged for reduced price buffs, but they supply me enough meat to make extra buffs so I can sell some as well. I also have some artisan friends that gather the resources I need, and as I sell med supplies on the vendor, I give them a % cut of the income, it required some investment from them to begin with, but now that I am getting more established it is paying off quite handsomely for them.
In the beginning you are doing the right thing by spreading out your harvestors because you still need to make some buff packs to keep the money rolling in, but as your profits grow, you will be able to bye more harvestors, then get to the point where you will find a good spawn of resources and you will dump all the harvestors you can on it as long as that spawn lasts. Then move on to the next. Once you get enough of a stock of resources, some weeks you won't even bother placing harvestors cause all the resources are crap so why waste the time?
All in all the key to this whole process is relying on other gamers to help you out, they made it difficult because they want everyone to rely on other people to be successful and this is the way they made doctors rely on others. As you get good buff packs you will find loyal customers that will fly across the galaxy just to get one of your buffs and you will find they will always be happy to help, hope this helps you.

I have two accounts now.
Mastering Artisian with my new one.
You really can't do it all by yourself, its not possible, especially if Doctor is your first profession.

I have been crafting meds for a long time and there are days when everything I try to make is a disaster and I never use resources that are below 900+ in oq. I have no reasonable explanation as to why this is so...cannot help you with that question.
I will usually set aside two days of the week where all I do is craft meds for outstanding orders...or my own use if needed.
I set aside three days to chase resources.
The other 2 days are for my own fun...my present fave place is the Geonosian Cave...scary fun.
With regard to handling resources and whatnot, I have several Master Doc friends that I swap resource waypoints with...which is a big help as it enablesme to really take the time to check out what is available on a particular planet and to gather the very best items thatI can. It is a bit tedious at times, but it is also very rewarding as you gradually acquire more and more precious and uber resources for the meds.
I have 7 food and chem factories and 4 resource houses...it takes alot of work, but I also have the satisfaction of knowing that I can provide my customers with some very nice medical supplies.
It is a process to get good at this profession...and it takes time to acquire resources...but hang in there and you will really see the satisfaction of the craft you have chosen to pursue.
If I can answer any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on Bria server (nice that there are cross-server tells now).
