To defend myself, what should I get as a combat profession with Master Doctor? Fencer? TKA? Rifleman?

I like carbineer. Riflemen uses the all important mind pool but you will do better damage there. Tka is strong but if your tanking it can be a bit more work to support a group. It depends on what you like though. Anything with doc is strong.

Thanks. Right now I'm a Master Commando and a Master TKA. I can't keep both of course with Master Doctor, and I can't even keep Master Commando/Master Doctor...how sad..

I am going for fencer, but that is more a choice because I just really like fencer Not sure how it compares to anything else in game.

I have not mastered either yet, but I am only a few boxes off.

Well, Rifleman does use the mind pool alot, but if you get some brandy it should be fine. I'm Master Doctor / Rifleman and I like it. About TKA, if you plan to be tanking, a doctor is usually always there healing them. So if you can do both at the same time, kudos! Otherwiae a.) Don't take b.) Pick a different combat thingy.

Yes im scratching my head over this very question myself, I have had Mstr TKA for the last 2 months, be it one of the few combat classes where almost every special actually works makes it good fun and it is very effective for tanking. It really does depend on your basic role, are you PVE or PVP or bit of both.

Mstr TKA really is one of the best PVE professions specially as you can buff yerself at will, most creatures are vulnerable to Kinetic damage and TKs really do dish it out with aplomb. The downside is PVP, its a waste I think for a Doc to be TK in PVP. I am now nearly Mst Pistoleer having dropped TK(low mind costs + good dodges + range) this really suits me for PVP purposes specially against those pesky CMs, with your dodges (also +50 def versus Knockdown and Dizzy TKs best moves)and Fan Shot special you can dish it out and stay out of the way of the Melees most of the time. TK specials drain mind but as has been said Brandys of course help, but try Unarmed 3 and 3-4 poison cures it soon drops even with double 400 brandy

Rifleman is a good one and very nice for PVE and probably the best profession at the moment in PVP, with its range and remote DB ability its simply awesome, downside you get spotted and burst run by a TK you fire rate is so slow close upits not a laughing matter! but then any range specialistis at risk of that to be fair.

so in summary

TK is cool and great for PVE then dabble PVP as a doc ( has powerboost and KD Dizzy bad against Comp Armour).

Pistoleer for PVP then PVE ( has great dodging ability so stay alive longer with nice fan shot cone special and rapid fire rate).

Rifleman for PVP and PVE. ( has awesome remote DB from 60m and killer mind shots can be slow close up)

Carbineer hmmm too bugged for my liking

I'm master CM with master doc, it's not a "real" combat profession, but it makes you a very good support in both PvP and Pve, master doc helps you crafting very good area/ranged stims as well.

Someone said most critters are vulnerable to kinetic damage? Huh? I don't find that to be true at all! Secondly, as a TK/swordsman/fencer, you don't get alot of other choices! Blast for hammers, stun for batons. TKM have... Kinetic. bleh.

Pistoleer is how I'd go. Damage is low, but you are so versatile it makes up for the difference. Secondly, pistoleer has some of the best defenses in the game, even all by itself. Fencer comes close, but the damage type problem kills it for me. Fan shot is great, and stopping shot is not that much worse than lastditch from the smuggler line. Pistoleer is also the only combat pro that can reach over to another and augment. The dirty fighting line from Smuggler is great.

Carbiner is another good one, and in truth one I would like to explore. If you are eternally buffed, the high HAM costs of the carbines are not a problem, but again you have limited weapon choices. I think only acid and energy?

Just my two creds.

I've killed pikets with my Master Pistoleer and my TKM. The piket plains walker has 40% kinetic resist and my TKM still kills them 2-3 times faster. I've dropped 3 pikets in 23 seconds with my TKM. I've even killed them before they had a chance to stand up from the KD. The Frenzied Graul has light armor and 65% kinetic resist yet my TKM can take on 4 of them at the same time (cleared full lair of them last night)

For PVE the pistoleer doesn't evencompare to a fully buffed TKM.

P.S. My TKM does all his fighting without armor.

Why master Pikeman/Doctor ? Or was that a joke ?

Right now im almost master doctor, and headed for pikeman (holocron), if its useful, I may keep it. Right now im a 0112 swordsman and it fits perfectly. Just use some brandy then go take a lair spamming my AoE attack

Well I would say that yes with brandy TKMs are just the way to go in PvE. Before that, mind was often an issue though. I still prefer pistoleer by far against humanoids, because they go down much faster as you don't have to chase them around.
