Thread: Med Bag idea in more detail

Since this Medical Bag issue seems to be a big topic here, I thought I would throw in a few more thoughts for discussion.


First, I know people have been complaining that they get the "no valid medicine" message when they have more stuff in their backpack and this is annoying. To me this isn't the real issue. It is a matter of storage space in our inventory. I sort of like the idea of having a backpack not being searchable for meds that way I can throw meds in there that I don't want to be used (I can chose which meds are in the search area and which are not. Thus hiding either my good meds or my bad meds based on what sort of service I am providing.


The issue is really the amount of space we have available and the shear number of different things we need to carry to ply our profession. When there are 6 different buff packs + 6 crates for the next buffs + stims, + all the different wound packs, well you all know what I am talking about. It all takes up a lot of space.


I love the idea of a medical bag of some type. I would suggest that it actually look "graphic wise" like a bag with a sling on it that we would throw over one shoulder and neck. It should also have a red cross on it to indicate it is a medical bag. It would work just like a second backpack except that it would be searchable for meds unlike the backpack.


I would also suggest that the size of the bag be based on the amount of skill. For example maybe it could be sized to be one item per skill box in medic, doctor, or combat medic professions.


This would give:


a master medic: 18 items


a master doctor: 36 items


a master combat medic: 36 items


a master doc/master CM: 54 items


(I hope that is right, 16 boxes plus one each for novice and master)

It is far more likely that the devs will code existing containers to be useable with meds (if this turns out to be a top issue), then to create a special bag... since once they create the bag, then they would do the same coding that would work on ALL bags just for that bag... Making all bags work would be at least 2 steps shorter.

good point, Adding a new graphic to the game would likely be a big deal by itself.

this is a good idea but it should be more then 18 36 ect. a normal backpack holds 50 items, and if you've spent the time and money to get Master Doctor to should be able to put well over 50 things in your bad, 60-80 would be more like it, since, as prevously sated we have to carry a lot of stuff aroud to 'be all that we can be' otherwise we have to keep running back to banks or bazaars.

I was thinking that this Med Bag would be something that could be worn in addition to a backpack not as a replacement for a backpack. So this would be all extra space. We could still have the backpacks to store meds that we want to hide from the slash commands we have macroed for performing medical actions.


Maybe some of us are thinking of this differently. If it would replace the backpack then surely it would have to be at least as large as a current backpack even larger I would argue.

I think that is what is meant the medic bag would be plus your original.

No, I assumed it would a in addition, I still stand by what I said. I fill up my back pack with 7 or 8 diferent stacks of resorses and the rest stim Cs or Ds and go to dath and use all the stims up in about 1-2 hours then have to make a whole new batch or run to a bank, and I don't bank on dath it is to inconvineant, soI have to go off planet or make more. with a bag I could tripple my field time.

I was thinking of it this way


inventory 50 items

+ 50 items in backpack = 100 items

+ 18 for Master Medic = 118

+ 18 for Master Doctor or Master Combat Medic = 136 items

+ another 18 if you do both Doc and CM = 154 items


Of the possible 154 item carry only 104 (main inventory + Medic bag) would be searchable

the backpack would still be unsearchable for healing macros (so we can hide some meds we don't want to use at the moment)


Of course any skill box missing would give one less item storage in the med bag. At least that is the way I picture a Med Bag with the thoughts from GuardianHawk.

Maybe the solution is not in our bag, but in our meds. For example, maybe master doctors should get a combined wound kit that can hit all six physical stats. Something is needed at master.
