ok... the November Top 5 is getting a bit dated... and with all the Dev attention to Doctor concerns as of late (little to none) I think it's time we get a new Top 5 out there...

and a State of the Profession letter...

I can write al lthe top 5's you want, but if they aren't collecting them, then it is kinda pointless eh?

Right now they are still working on the issues in he first top 5, and TH is taking 10 informational questions.

That's why the vote threads have been changed to no end date.

If something changes in the process, I'll post it here and make it a sticky.

first, thank you Traigus for your prompt response...

however, we do need feedback on what the devs are up to... I understand that TH is frustrating with his standard "we're looking into it" responses, but most of the long-term Doctors still would like to know what's going on so we can make an uproar if need be (for good or for ill)

I still remember the devs' response concerning Master Doctor benefits from a few months ago... "I'm open to ideas...." (translation: you brainstorm it, we'll shoot it down) -- still no Master Doctor benefits as of yet --

On the plus side, there has been the new buff system (coming live today, untried by me as of yet)but the removal of Combat Healing XP removes benefit for group hunting as an MD... (I don't get/need Medical XP anymore)

I apologize for my ranting, and I am sure you've felt the same frustrations... lets just hope for some love from the devs in the next publish!

Well, truthfully, the Top 5 hasn;t really changed that much anyway, from what I can see. It takes time to develop that stuff.

As for the Master Doc benefits, they've taken our suggestions, offered some feedback on stuff they liked (see the issues list,I put it in there as their response) and that's all we can really do with that. They've got their priorities, they'll impliment some stuff for us eventually, but it's going to take time to happen. In the meantime most of our stuff is working. If anything I would rather see some effort being pushed to handle HAM bar resizing properly and buff overwrite being implimented. I think those are the top 2 priorities for Docs just to get those fixed. Secondarily would be a counter to AoE DoTs, On Fire Cure (which is supposed to already be in for Publish 7, so it's not much of a priority anymore)and getting much better feedback in figureing out if the crafting system really is workig right or not (I don't think it is, personally.) Long-term I'm also VERY interested in a dialogue over the Medical Resources issue, but I expect that one to take some time to hash out and then, if some solution will finally be offered to us, I expect it will take many months to implement anyway.

The new "buff system" isn't really anything more than a nice convenience and a big help for letting us see what buffs we hav on and when they wear off, but other than that its' not something that directly addresses any of our issues.

The Combat XP thing I'm almost positive only affects DoTs. The last bit of testing I did on TC showed that we are still going to get Combat XP for healing someone who is in combat. I think that is important on two fronts, one being getting that XP for helping out on the Ranged Weapon Support line of Marksman, which is required to get into Combat Medic, and also because I feel it lays the groundwork for getting use FPs for healing.

Overall, though, I just don;t see the point in pushing out another Top 5 or trying to get more info than we have. Trust me, the Correspondents push a LOT to get the communication lines more and more open (and there has been some improvements made on that front.) There is still a LONG way to go on this, but all we can do is push whee we can. Heck some professions haven't even had the Top 5 the sent in at the same time we sent in ours answered, yet.

There's just nothing mroe Traigus can do here. We're stuck trying to gather info and pass it along, but if they don't want the information, even if we push the information in front of them, then the info will be of no use. And it certainly won't get a response. So it's certainly frustrating all around.

The funny thing is that I think Traigus and I have got to be poster children for the patience levels of the Medics and Docs just because we keep persisting in doing all of this despite the glacial pace of communications right now. At least glacial is better than none at all.

I will say this, though, I don't really expect Docs in particular to necesarkly get much loving for a while. There are just several other down-right broke professions that need some lovin' first. What I do see for us mostly has to do with the Combat Revamp. Primarily I expect we should see Mind Damage Healing added back into the game and we'll see the On Fire Cure coming in Publish 7. We should see some, probably minor, crafting updates if that whole thread on Crit Failures was any indicator. I think, or hope at least, that we'll see the Buff Overwrite ability added in the next several months (I'm thinking sometime between Publish 8 and Publish 12, but that's just a completely wild guess on my part.) Outside of that, I don't know what, if anything, we'll see in the short term. And truthfully, having seen Correspondents come and go, there's not a darned thing the Correspondents can really do about that.

Well, we have at least gotten some lovin' before. I still remember when buffs would drop just when you crossed a server line, but the timer stayed up. Then they fixed all occurences of that. Then the broke it again but only for when you logout.

We've actually had a decent amount of little fixes and especially stealth fixes that got thrown into the mix. (And a stealth gotcha or two as well.) Overall it hasn;t been too bad. But I really have to admit that any of the niceties we have gotten most likely had absolutly nothing to do with me. The most that happened there is my providing them a list to look at, and pretty much every other correspondent has done the same thing so there's nothing special about that. I sometimes wonder if I'm TOO quiet on the Correspondent forums, really, but the "louder" correspondents don't really get anything more pushed out than we do. The devs will do what the devs will do, and all we can really hope for is that we make things a tad bit easier for them to figure out where some of the problems are and maybe spark some ideas for them for giving us some content or fixing things.

So far that much seems to be working acceptably. I'm still holding out for more, more, more, but I'm just kinda greedy that way.

Actually EQ has a "click off" buff system.. has been that way for a while.. Can cancel all good buffs with a mouseclick 9anything without a negative effect, or tradeoff).

Having the window is a step in the right direction if they want to add "clickoff buffs." Without one, we'd have to do it by /command... that would hurt my brain. Not that they have said they are going in that direction... but they could.

Many of the Correspondents that have quit, left because they haven't been making fast changes. I've seen stuff I've suggested go in the game (in Beta and after release). Correspondent bug lists have been a big priority after the Vehicle publish. Docs suffer from our strong Beta community. We got tons of stuff fixed before release. Most of our problems are with buffs and crafting.

We're in this for the long haul.

thank you Zarlor for your response...

as you said, and confirmed on the other medic boards, the new interface is a very sore disappointment... the on-fire cure will be a much needed change for the better (when we get it) and frankly, I'm not sure if they'll ever implement a buff overwrite ability (you can't in EQ - unless you completely dispel magic on somebody and start over)

as to the Master Doctor benefits... I'll be expecting them somewhere around Publish 47 or 231 (ok, maybe a little harsh)

I have visited the other profession boards, and I realize that we as Doctors/Medics have it very good when it comes to the Correspondent position... and that the devs have their priorities (mostly pushed by corporate SOE - big flashy features, etc...)and that some player issues get lost/delayed ad nauseaum. I just get frustrated seeing patch after patch where nothing is done to fix Doctor problems... yet time/effort is found to tweak/untweak/retweak things (T21 anyone??)

I suppose I'll pass the time in the interimby burning down Imperials with my Carbine! (and other animals I find funny looking... LOL)

thanks again for your prompt, concise responses Traigus and Zarlor...
