Someone from test please answer this, it would help alot to resolve the whole crappy buff/logout timer issues weve been having lately(at least the crap buffs are lately)

I know they are adding a visual buff system, woot to the devs, but are they adding this as well?

Neither I, nor Traigus from what I have heard as of a day or two ago, could figure out any way to actually debuff. I think the patch note in question must be referring to the fact that we can now see when a buff ends, and therefore it must be referring to making the "debuff easier to understand", so to speak. Not in that it guves us a way to debuff, but it lets us know when the debuff is going to happen.

So this looks like it's just a bad patch note so far.

TY for the quick responce on that one, is there anyway you could talk to TH or the devs and get this system implemented, as it would resolve alot of the heartburn we are all experiencing form buffing, and form log/timer issues.

Ive quit buffing publicly becuase of this, and its a pain for me to buff myself, getting rdy to fight and bam a 600 Health buff, now I gotto go die and start over, its just a pain is all.

I think a 'debuff' is something that high level mobs do. Ive heard some Nightsisters debuff with some of there force powers. It really just consists of an attack that lowers a stat for a short amount of time.

I think..

I offer, at no extra charge of course, to kill them, rez them and buff them.

It's entertaining to passersby at least..

I make them fight me in a pair of hotpants.

It's already in the works. Check out the issues list and you'll see that the Devs have promised to give us an overwrite ability. We just don;t know when they'll be able to get it implemented.

Hmm...I wonder if people would use this to power level themselves. Buff someone...unbuff them, and then do it again. Granted that would be the most expensive way to powerlevel...but there are a lot more lazy people out there then not.

Well the ability to just De-buff directly would allow the ability to grind XP that way (in fact some people already do it using pets, see the Exploit section of the Doctor Issues list for details), but the proposal the Devs mentioned is not for debuffing, but for overwriting only those buffs that have a lower applied power than whatever your new buff would come out to be. So only if you "roll" better than whatever the current buff is for that person would it actually overwrite.

And, yes, it seems that the patch note does only refer to the display of the GUI telling you how much time is left on your buff. I believe the last time I spoke with Traigus that he did not see a way to debuff, and he may not have been able to overwrite a buff (but I didn't check that closely on how well he tested that and I don't currently have any Doc skills on TC, yet, to test it out myself.)

The TC buff system opens a little window where all buff icons go (food, doc, spice)... There are different icons for different kinds of buffs.

if you mouse-over the icon you get the name of the buff, what kind, and a duration clock (which counts down when you mouse over (it isn't static).

Clicking on a buff does nothing (left right or center).

Re-buffing (ar attempting to) grants a message "you already have a buff of this type."

I think the de-buffing is much like mentioned before. Mobs/NPCs can debuff you. Now you will know when it happens (watching HAM bars re-scale wasn't a great way to tell all the time).

If debuffing is intended, it is not in for players at this time. While overwriting was promised, I dunno if that is still current intention or not. (At one point we were offered a component based forage upgrade to /medforage and that seems to have gone away.)

As of Tuesday night, there was no way to debuff or overwrite on TC. BTW, dantooine is not the place to be looking for avian meat =p

I just tested to see if they fixed the buff system. They haven't.

I logged on and buffed myself (got really low results too, but that could have just been bad luck). Got the visual buff timer thingies. Logged off for a bit. Logged back on and the visual buff box was empty, indicating that I had no buffs currently in effect. My stats were not buffed. I tried to rebuff myself and was told I already had an enhancement to that attribute.

Not to turn this post in the wrong direction, but...

Wouldn't it be cool if Doctors did get the de-buff thing...and could use it on any PC so that it could be used in pvp. Alot of Doctors are masters to support a class, I'm master doctor to spupport master swordsman. It would be really nice to be able to de-buff who you are fighitng.

On a second note if that is not an option they will need to ake sure the de-buff ability isn't able to be used in PvP, unless they want it there of course
