Depends on what you're doing, really. If you're a melee fighter, armor might be very important to you. However, if you're the designated healer, I'd suggest leaving the armoroff to conserve mind points.

Here's my take on doctors and armor.

First of all, no profession in the game can make better use of armor than a doctor can. With our buffs, we can almost ignore encumbrance (except on mind) and therefore wear armor with basically no hindrance whatsoever - we get the benefits of greater protection without any of the drawbacks.

However, mind encumbrance is bad news for a doc. If you're a doc without any points left in your mind pool, you're worthless. You can't even use a stimpack. If you're the designated healer in the group, here's my suggestion: create a macro to put your armor on and take it off again. Leave it off throughout most of combat unless you start taking fire. When that happens, quickly throw your armor on and try to refrain from any healing activites - let your friends bail you out. Once the danger has subsided, drop your armor and get back to healing.

That's how I most often use armor, anyway.

I can just buff myself and put on an Ubese shirt, jacket and pants. Then I take some varasain brandy +450 to mind, focus, and willpower for 39 minutes. I can also use some ex-protien waffers, and it gives me 15% resists to the next 12-15 attacks. I keep some Blue Milk handy also for a mind stim. My mind is migrated to 1000/700/700 already, so I can still heal pretty well with all my armor on. I just make sure I don't take the aggro in the fight. I can stim and rez people pretty easy in combat. After combat, I put my BE Clothing back on to heal wounds and rebuff when needed.

Back when I was an MD/TKM I never wore armour at all, and never once had a problem in either PvE or PvP.

The buffs themselves were armour enough, but the decision really is up to each players personal preference.

I never wore armor, but again I'm not always in the middle of the fights.

Does anyone know if your focus/willpower/mind affects buffs?
I find when I'm buffing that armor decreases my buff's

For the most part, I don't wear armor, but I have everything but the helmet hotkeyed so I can put it on quickly. I also have a helmet and muon on seperate hotkeys.

If I am in a well-rounded group, I don't bother buffing. If I am soloing, I do buff up. With solid D buffs, I find that armor is more of a hinderance, unless you're up against something really nasty that would normally one-hit an unbuffed person. I can take on things like Gurks, and not have to worry about stims while I use any special I please.

If things get hairy (like I have to tank multiple aggro) the armor goes on. If my mind starts to drop, I will throw on the helm and try to fight it out. If the mind is almost gone, I hit the panic key (read: muon hotkey) and I am pretty much set for anything.

I have also been playing with the new Corellian Fried Ice Cream and Vasarian Brandy, which keeps my mind regen up. I am trying to wean myself off of buffs and spice, since relying on them has made my fightingsloppy and less technical.

I'm a master doc that has just started towards TKA my basic layout is as follows:

health/str/con - 400/400/400

action/qui/sta - 400/400/400

mind/foc/will - 1100/950/950 (thinking bout changing to 800/1100/1100 cuz there's always entertainers around for now)

this with a full set of self buffs and that there is almost always one or both of master dancer/musician's around our city buffing usually means the most I'll wear is a really good helm usually ubese for PvE and comp for PvP cause having stats of this after wards on avg is nice (used nice round numbers on health/action stuff)

health... - 2500/1800/1800

action... - 2500/1800/1800

mind... - 2200/1900/1900

and this all before food and drug buffs with some 600+ base c's and some 800+ base heals d's hotkeyed depending on severity of damage I'm usually set.

side note: I use a full set ofAdv Ubese for 26K mission soloing
