Thread: Doctors should get the Mind Buff business!
No there should be a new profession out of master medic and its called psychiatric (not sure if its spelled like that in english) but this character could buff your mind after a session of one hour. Listening the all the complaint, effectively taking away all the negative tought of your toon, and pumping you with great ideas to conquer the world and boosting your ego that your invincible.
Think that would work ?
oooo I bet you're popular in the cantinas
But hey, I hear ya. Waiting 10 mins for a 2 hr. buff that will only double your pool is quite absurd. The key is to find entertainers that buff on a regular basis. I have a few friends and a PA member that buff.
The Devs tried to help us out. They implemented food that reduces mind buffing times. But seriously, does the buffing time really need to be so long? Why can't it be instantaneous? Granted, I have no idea how this would be protrayed in-game, but I'm sure the Devs can think of something.
**Dancer discusses literature with you and you feel smarter**
**Musician smacks you in the head -WHAP- You can now focus**
It seems to me this is just a call for convenience instead of addressing the root issue. The problem would seem to be finding Dancers and Musicians to get buffed from (and obviously we mean non-AFK ones, at that.)
Right now this would seem to be a huge problem because Mind is the determining factor in combat. So part of the problem would be alleviated by the Combat Revamp which should tone that particular issue down greatly, I believe.
So the other issue then is simply one of convenience and really begs more that the issue of WHY Dancers and Musicians are not offering these services, or why there aren't enough of these entertainers wanting to offer these services. (In some places the same could be said of Docs for buffing and even Medics for healing, in which case the argument would suggest we should give these abilities to other professions?) So I think the real issue to be addressed is not by offering the kludge of saying Docs should be able to buff mind (and I can't say I agree with Sir Vimes would make Chef or Smuggler buffs useless as these would still have a market and be stackable, not to mentione all the other really cool new Chef stuff that just came out that has nothing at all to do with buffing stats) but by saying how can we make it more appealing for Dancers and Musicians to play the game more and to offer their buffing services?
Certainly part of it can be answered by the same thing Docs are always asking for. TIPS! Be sure to tip your Musician and Dancer friends, and tip them well. Outside of that, though... well come up with ideas and run over to the Dancer and Musician forums and pitch them to see if some of the folks who do play those professions already like your ideas and may their Correspondents can help to offer those suggestions to the Devs.
In other words, make us stronger by making them stronger, not by giving us mind buffs.
Besides, wasn't this a dicussion on Dnacer/Musician buffs? I personally much prefer entertainer buffs to useing Food/Spice, which lasts at the most, 15 mins.
Perhaps this is the reason that entertainer buffs take so long. If they were instantaneous in application, no one would use spice or food, except as a situational booster.
But honestly, I think that's the way it should be. Doctor buffs and Entertainer buffs should be the base buffs that people look for. Foods and spices should be secondary boosters you use when in tough situations. /shrug just my thought on the matter.

I'm sorry and I know that I will get flamed, but these classes are completely useless in how they play the game. I would rather have NPS entertainers to heal and buff than these $%^&%&%(s.
NEVER TIP AN AFK ENTERTAINER!
I'd rather have NPC Doctors as well than have to deal with people like you.
Also, if you take 2 hours to get to a shuttle, group and do 2 missions, you are either 2 years old, completely drunk or high, or have no coordination at all. Nothing wrong with that, just saying it isn't normal for you to be playing SWG at that time.
