Thread: Buffing Current Faction Only

I have found in my times as a Master Doc of Wanderhome, that there is too many rebel doctors assisting imperial forces with buffs, first aid, and cures.

From this point forward (role playing perspective) i have decided to onlyaid Rebel Faction Members. *Neutrals & Imperials* will have to find Medcial Treatment elsewhere.

I feel that this will aid my brothers in arms and grant them an upperhand in battle and give the game a more focused view on the GCW.

Please give me your thoughts.

I attempted to do this for a couple days when the Imperial crackdown hit. My god I have never heard more whining people in my life! Those who were Rebel lauded my actions naturally, since they were getting buffs, and many (not most)Imps understood.. But those who were neutral got extremely bent out of shape. I say good luck, if you can pull it off... The essential problem here is that many people have a faction of some sort, but don't really play it. They are getting buffs for PvE and didn't even think of the fact that you might be a Rebel doc. They don't care, they just want buffs, and it boggles them that you might actually refuse to buff them. So after a couple days I tried a different tack... I raised the price from 8k to 24k... with a footnote to the effect that if you were a member of the Rebellion you would receive a 66% discount, Rebel price 8k. This appeared to be working at first, as neutrals and imps could stomp off in a huff, they themselves having refused the service.. But eventually griefers showed up who simply could not allow this to happen: a doctor choosing who to provide service for. It was just way too much hassle, and was interfering in my fun of playing Doc, so I gave up on that..

I gave up, and buff almost anyone now, except guild members from Imp towns that I have been banned from. I have actually started an ongoing war between my guild and another over this. That's cool, that's what this game is supposed to be. To those neutrals or otherwise non-aligned-to-the-doc people who get mad when we don't want to buff you, I want you to remember that the Devs made it so you CAN'T buff, heal, or rez Overt non-coaligned players. Sure, you're covert or neutral, but I want you to think about that. This game is supposed to be us against you, and to you neutrals, if you're not with us, you're against us. That's what this game is, it is faction-based for a reason. There is a freaking war going on!!! Can you believe I was accused of acting like a racist for buffing only Rebels? More than a few people offered that insane sentiment.

just put up your [RP] tag and you shouldent have a problem....And to all those that complane, there is plenty of money anyway. If thats how you want to play your char more power to you. Iv seen imp docs doing this and i have absolutly no problem. Yeh im a doc heh but still. There are vendors on my server that only sell to imps. All reble only guilds have ben banned from the shops and there are scanners all over etc. I also have no problem with this and most people would understand...Why should buffs be diffrent? Just because they are realy usefull to everyone does not mean we shoud give them away.

Last time I checked the RP tag was broke...I don't think it has ever worked. And I can top your story...while raiding inTheed I had a Imp Master Surgeon ask me not once but multiple times to buff him so he could kill me! LOL He said I was the only master in town and he wanted to fight but needed buffs...but he very nicely understood when I said no.

I'm also on Wanderhome and made this same decision several months ago. It doesn't affect me much now as I never actually devote time to selling buffs. I really only buff guild mates and friends (for free) and have a short list of people I still buff for money because they have always been very polite and are willing to travel to meet me where I am because they appreciate the quality of my buffs. When I was still actively selling buffs, I did take some flack from nuetrals and (to a lesser extent) Imperials, but all the rebels who heard me tell someone "Sorry, but I only buff rebels." appreciated my faction loyalty and would look for me first when they wanted buffs. Most Imps would simply reply that they understood and considered it honorable. Yes, some would refuse to accept my refusal to buff them, and they would simply get added to my ignore list.
The only problem I have now is when a non-rebel sees me buffing my group on an adventure planet and demands that I buff him/her too. Some seem to think that being the only master doc at a remote outpost means that I have to buff anyone willing to pay. The fact is, we can refuse to buff anyone we want, for any reason. I have even refused to buff rebels who were rude enough to demand my services instead of asking for them.

I only buff people of the opposite faction when, my fault though it was, I forget to ask them their faction and tell them I'll buff them. That being said, I don't buff for money anymore - when I started buffing I charged 6k for imperials, 10k for neutrals (imho, rebel sympathizers) and rebels and slowly migrated to 10k for imperials only. I may have had a few unruly people send me tells but the vast majority have found humor in it and appreciated the fact .... in the sense of RP'ing

Even last night I took offense with an imperial that healed the disease of a rebel .... unfortunatly he got offended and didn't understand ... oh well ...

Well honestly I think it's kinda lame to not buff neutral players. I am neutral too and I will admit it's extremely irritating to look for doctors everyware and when you finally find one you get some lame excuse "ohh sorry your not rebel or your not Imp" I don't usually get "bent out of shape" when I get that lame excuse because Im getting use to it. That's about all I can find is a faction based doctors anymore. The only problem I have is some of you.. *trying not to stereotype* are complete **edit** about it. And rude as hell! I have more doctors on my **edit**list than any other player.

I do understand your point of view. If I was in the same boat I would probobly do the same thing. However I would do my damndest to to identify Neutral players and buff them.. Our money is just as good as rebs or imps, and in most cases in desperation to find a doctor we will pay more also!!. It's not rocket science to figure people out. MOST of you Imps and Rebs haveBadges that identify what side you are on. And yea a neutral player could be an covert on either side. But again.. most of you have badges, Neutral players do not have "Dr Vacca" or whatever on their bios. So before you just blow us off at least do your best to see weather we are neutral or not. I have a whole44 faction points combined Woohooo :-)

I was thinking of using the discount approach myself. Advertise: "Buffs 10k (which is the going rate on Kettemoor) Rebels 5k". It would give me the feeling that I am helping out my faction..without actually turning anyone away...except overt imperials.

I refused to buff someone of opposite faction once, and at first the conversation was not too friendly, but I insisted I was roleplaying a Rebel part (as I am a Rebel) and that was it, there was no hate involved. (turned out to be a nice conversation in the end)

The way I plan to play this out in the future - If selling buffs, In the shout it will say Rebels only please (my reasons for this is that I pvp and it would not be to my advantage to buff someone who I might fight in an hour). I believe most pvpers would understand this, however those that do not pvp might think it rude or extreme. Another way around the faction thing is only buff at a factional oupost (dant imp, rori reb, etc.), you will probably run into more of your own kind.

I personally think it is pretty @#$%%& when i am trying to get buffs (and most people on Wanderhome know that i do not do pvp....I am a hunter that is it) and I get told sorry you are not the right faction. I have virtually no interest in roleplaying any of the factions (I am an Imperial only because i wanted to join a guild). I feel that my money is as good as anyone elses and have been buffed by both sides including you Takai. You buffed me once and when i died fighting Rancors about 2 hours later you said you would not buff me again because i was an imperial that my friend is BS.

Thats is my rant on Faction Based Buffs.........It is fine to not buff another faction if you know they are into PvP but give those of us who you know enjoy just hunting and such buffs it will not kill you..........

It's been said before and I'll say it again - nowhere in the rules does it require docs to stop what they're doing just to buff you because you say so. I roleplay. That's what I do. If someone is rebel on farstar, guess what .... they don't get buff no exceptions .... Even if you are only pve, you are either a) gaining money for the opposite faction to be used buying things that can be used against us at a later date, b) gaining resources that can be used to make things to be used against us at a later date or c) healing people that could potentially attack us with full mind or possibly a mind buff at a later time ..... no matter which scenario it is ... I do not particularly want to help the opposite faction ... you have yr right to think its *bleep* to not heal / buff the opposite faction ( no i don't do either ) as I have my right to refuse to do such to whoever I want for whatever reason .... I do not, nor do most other docs take the time keeping track of who does and does not pvp and it is not our responcibility to do so. If you play in a rpg, expect some people to ROLEPLAY ... omg ... what an idea!!! Roleplaying, in a RPG ... /gasp ....

I've buffed people of the opposite faction before and i've learned my lesson .... only time I do so now is when I forget to ask them their faction and they travel all the way from one side of the planet to me or somthing and it's my stupid fault for not remembering to ask .....

but as a result of the flames from this very issue (and others) I've decided to only buff friends (i don't have any rebel friends ....) to avoid any problems with this in the future in game .... one more doc off the market
