Thread: Full service, Doc?

I play a Master Doc on Intrepid, and despite the fact I always have a combat profession, I ensure I'm never without a full suite of medicines. I carry 20 different medicines, 6 wound packs, 6 enhance D's, 6 state removers, rez kits and stim E's. Granted, that takes a lot of inv space, considering I carry a bag with 20 different resources for on-the-spot crafting, plus crates of many of my meds, plus all my armor, clothes, weapons, tools and sundry items.

So, why is it that I've been running across more and more "full-time", non-combat Doctors on other serversthat claim they DON'T carry meds for disease cures, or rez kits, or stat wound healing? Now, I realize I'm running across most of these Docs as they camp out in front of Coronet starport buffing people, but for months, on Intrepid, that was MY office. 1st order of business was checking people's status bar to ensure they weren't poisoned ior diseased, and quickly hitting them with qa cure if they were. Even if I was buffing someone, I'd nail some poor guy with a cure if I saw he had cooties as he ran by. It doesn't interfere with the buffing process at all, it's like stimming someone between buffs. 2nd, before I'd pull the trigger on a buff, I'd /diag the fellow to ensure his BF was low enough not to interfere with my meds. This way I'd also notice major stat wounds and heal them as well.

So, is it just that these "Docs", Master of their profession, can't be bothered to actually help those in need? Or are they too lazy, greedy or immoral? They certainly can't plead that they're too poor...

i know what you mean, i sat in bestine med centre (chimera) and watched the doc sitting healing the tumble monkeys. now i really dont have anything against these people as they are just trying to hit the top quicker, but the fact that there was roughly 12 docs and 3 tumblers, and 4! people with wounds, the wounded were NOT getting healed! 1/2 the docs/medics didnt even have woundpacks!!!this is just stupid! its like asking an architect to make a house for you and him telling you "NO, i only make factories". if people complain that they dont get tipped for healing wounds i would really beg to differ! i would so i am tipped 60% of the time when i heal someones wounds. why? probably because i am nice to them and like roleplaying a doc a bit so instead of just sitting waiting for me to finish they are having a conversation and a bit ofa laugh at the same time!

I keep a full set of wound packs on me, but I only bother to heal BIG wounds (like the 150+ you get from NPC bleeds), if someone's got like 6 health wounds I'm just not going to bother, let a novice medic take care of them if need be but really who cares about 6 health if you're buffed for over 3000 ?

Not curing disease or poison or not having res kits I find incredible, aside from buffs, those are what you NEED a doc for, hell, buffing is secondary to ressing in my estimation, I wouldn't be caught dead without a res kit or cures, but then I'm not purely a buffmonkey, I can't be bothered to stand around buffing people, even for 10-12k a set, I'd rather go run missions, it might be a bit slower but it doesn't cost me anything and if there's good meat in shift I can stock up whilst doing it.

I don't however carry resources with me any more, I just cannot be bothered crafting in the middle of nowhere, so I make sure I have crates of everything so I'm not likely to need to, a crate of 50 state cures with 45+ charges each will last you AGES, same goes for wound packs (though I don't usually carry crates of them around, I suppose I really ought to but I really can't be bothered to make them ).

In September last year I madeone or morecrates of everyitem a master doctor would use. One crate of everything went into my backpack. I popped one of each item from every crate, into my main inventory, set upsome macros to apply them, and I was ready to take on the galaxy.

That is how I have played ever since. I re-did the buffpack crates in December with better resources but I haven't done any other crafting since September. I've been a frontline full-service doctor in two PvP guilds. It's fun.

I am never without one of everything... though I switched doc to my alt and haven't picked up my state packs yet. I have everything else in my inv, aside from a fireblanket.

If I'm in a hurry to hit a shuttle or something, and someone requests a buff, I'll say that I'm out of packs... but otherwise it's np.

Think it's partly the fault of the non medical players themselves, which often don't bother with paying a doc for healing. Seen it myself been in Theed for 3 nights in a row in the hospital, just healing wounds and so on and out of don't know the exact number but there have been a lot of people around.. 5-7 per night tipped me for my service (although i have to admit some very generous with up to 8k). So think lots of people just don't care any longer, cause you can lvl more easily by getting someone to tumble for you and if you hit master buffing is far more rewarding in terms of cash. Sure it's not much in the way of rpg, but most people don't care about it anyway.

I'm the same way, I carry everything on my back.

Woundpacks, state stims, cures, buffs and dmg stims. Plus the resources for in the field crafting (about 15 items). Plus all my food crates, clothes, armor, and misc items and I'm usually at or close to my 110 inventory cap.

As for those other Docs, well, they aren't the true masters of their profession. Only us Docs that play for keeps and have played the profession for a long period of time are willing to go the extra few steps.

Of course you know inventory space is at a premium as a doc...most of you may already have done this, but for the benefit of the less experienced docs, or those who haven't thought of it yet...

I've found it most efficient (for myself anyway) to have a few cheap 10-item storage droids in my datapad, and fill them with the less frequently used stuff (crates of poison/disease cures, state packs etc) and crafting resources for the field. Now that we have the ability to call droids in the field without a camp, this solution's been more effective than ever since I don't even need to ask for a camp anymore to call them.

these are docs who don't like crafting. They like to buy their kits, I know cause people ask me to sell them some all the time. They probably don't have enough money to buy a lot or have trouble even finding it for sale. Because your not gonna make as much money as a doc if your nto makin the stuff yourself.

I keep everything on my but SUB wound packs. I simply don't have room. I have Janata blood and crap load of resources and crates and crates so I can grind out enhance packs for hours in coronet. I would rather work one long session and make a lot of money, then one short hectic session. So I dont ever carry sub wound packs! BUT I do carry RES, Disease, etc..

i carry everything with me as well.. man, sometimes i wish i don't, i lose thousands of credits because i heal everybody that needs it (even when i'm solo in the geo cave i'll stop and heal everyone's state, jst because it's the nice thing to do) and only three people have ever tipped me. it sucks.

You cant ask a 12 year old playing SWG, whos a doc, to do full service for you LOL. After 3pm, there are a lot of kids who probably come online and unless they are more mature than my nephew, I Doubt you can expect them to waste their playtime healing people when they get on for their own purposes...some dont even know what to do really. I have a 11 year old nephew who plays these kinda games, and their first thought is "I wanna be a doctor when I grow up. oooo I can be one on SWG"....so if people dont heal you even tho they are docs...just say to yourself "Ah, hes prolly just a kid who is still learning"...and move on.

A lot of docs, like myself, will always heal your wounds before applying the buffs. I conditioned myself to do that even before this publish since wounds affected the randomness of the buffs. Even tho the person has only 1 wound in their stats,I heal them.

Cant blame a doc for not having certain kits, theres just so much he can fit into his inventory. I can fill up my inventory and 2 backpacks with just medicines and resources....its hard to make everyone happy.

I tend to carry Stims, buff packs, and crates of components / materials.

I make what I need... and keep leftovers.

So if I'm going ot vs. things that poison, I make poison paks, and keep them around till they are used up.

I usually have a full set of states ad poison and a disease pack on me. Once I find myself a live tailor i'll probably keep a crate of cloth and some rori fungus as well.

I've generally found that with a droid, Making stuff on the fly (with storage in bank of extra crated stuff and materials) is more inventory friendly. I generally don't factory make buffpacks... With the new system, I find myself almsot always making them by hand, since I don't feel squeezing the extra 30 pts out of a schematic and making 11 million packs is important for my time (also note I don't sell buffs as a general rule, or solo a ton, so lower value buffs are generally fine for what I do).

I am a CM/DOC with the rifle tree. Talk about needing alot of inventory. I don't cary most of the state effect heals but I do cary cure disease/poison/blind. I carry buffs, heals (all 6 usualy),stims (area, ranged, doc), weapons, deeds for harvesters, craftingkits, bivoli, brandy, fishack, muon, milk, and various and asundry other oddball things that keep me alive. I PvP and PvE all the time and in about equal amounts andtend to switch all the time so I have to keep a full complement of poisons on me at all times as well. Talk about a full inventory.
