Ok I'm sure this has been asked about a billion times...

How in the world do you make a good buff?

Sometimes I used advanced parts and good avian meat I buff people with a range of 700-1900

Somtimes I make buffs that only buff like 166. Why?

It's just really odd I heard it's the quality of the meat, others tell me its' the advanced parts.

What is it?

Well it's everything.

First off the effectiveness of your enhance medpak is a function both of the components you use, *and* the resources you use in the final assembly. Better components == better medpaks. To get the theoretical maximum, you would need Advanced Components, that themselves were made with 999 resources, and experimented up to their max.

Because, the way it works is, when you first assemble an item, you notice it already has a 'base' set of stats: power, uses, duration, etc. That base power is determined, in the case of items that use components, like enhance medpaks, by adding up the power of the components, and I think, adding in a little bit based upon the quality of the resources you in the final assembly. Then, when you experiment on effectiveness, the increase in power is a function of that 'base' value. So, the higher your base value (that you get from components) the greater the increase you will get on a great success. The total number of purple blocks you get (i.e. how much you are actually allowed to experiment on the effectiveness) is, I believe, solely a function of the avian meat and reactive gas you used in the final assembly.

So in summary, to get the best buffs, start by getting uber resources for your advanced components. Experiment the effectivness of those components as high as you can (if you have 'left-over' experimentation points, put them into charges/uses). Make a factory run of those high-power components, grab the components out of the factory, craft your medpak with them and with Uber avian meat and reactive gas, experiment, viola, you have high-power buffs.

Indeed, it has been. You can search this forum or, better yet, check out the FAQ for lots of information on this.

I'd just like to to add that to make a 999 power buff pack (the most powerfull possible), you would need "perfect" rsources that I don't think ever have spawned. The best pack I have ever created was a 926 power (no, not action.. that don't count). It was capable of buffing over 3500, but has buffed as low as 1200.

Experiment, experiment, experiment... If you don't use your experiment points to up the power of the packs, they will be lousy packs no matter what resources you use.

There are other variables to the outcome of a buff (the actual buff youadminister - not the pack itself). Firstly, every single point of Battle Fatigue the target of the buff has will reduce the outcome. 0 BF for full effect. You can /diag the 'patient' and tell them they better go to the cantina first, if they care how their buffs come out. Secondly you need a droid with a medical rating of 110%. That will give you better applications of your buff packs too. Thirdly, you need Bio-Engineered clothing that has a total of +25 to your medical treatment stat. With the chef foods revamp, there is now food that gives up to another +25 to that stat. Eat some of that stuff before you buff to get a better outcome.

As you can see.. being a Doctor is easy. Being a Great Doctor is a LOT of work.

There is no "999" limit on pack power.

In addition, I don't believe if it's known that every point of BF on your "buffee" is going to impact the power of the buff. It might very well be that anything under 100 BF is ignored so having 0 BF or 99 BF is just the same- you're still getting the full power of the buff. I don't know that this scenario is true, either, but I just wanted to point that out. However, the point is still valid, you want your patient to have little to no BF prior to applying the buff to achieve maximum effect.
