Thread: Petition: Craftable Rebreathers and Poison/Disease Stabilizers

The new geonosian cave brought along two new lootable items:Rebreathers & Poison/Disease stabilizersto fight against the poisons inside the dungeon.

This got me to thinking. Why can't docs make craftable rebreathers and poison stabilizers? I don't think the resources needed for this need to be generic items. They should be rare materials to make the final product. The rebreathers can be used by anyone in game. Poison stabilizers could be like an innoculation against poisons applied by a doctor.

KOTOR just got Advanced Bio-Stabilizer masks, I think we should get them on SWG as well - either using the concept of the rebreather or taking the masks from KOTOR and adding something similar to SWG.

So sign here now, if you would like to see this in game.

AWESOME IDEA!
It has always seemed to me that docs and combat medics ought to get resistance against disease and poison as well...just like melee/ranged fighters get defense against their attack style...but allowing the defense to come in the form of a craftable item is brilliant. Doc's can cure damage with stims, but we also get the ability to prevent damage (in a way) with buffs ...so these would be "buffs" against disease and poisons.

I'm just brainstomring here, but here are a few random ideas that came to me...

Itcould help balance the game better for PVP...as right now one doc can't keep up with one cm's poison throwing...

.it would give docs a high end elite item to craft

The schematic could even be a doc quest item similar to the AS quest for Risc armor... something to add a little more content to the game for docs.

the rebreather could be like armor with condition wearing down or if an innoculation, would last for a short while (like brandy, 40 minutes top) before being reapplied. Neither would protect 100%, but would reduce the effectiveness of the poisons or their chance ot hit. Rebreather could reduce chance to hit and innoculation the effectiveness....

And it could (as the dev's love to do) introduce doc dependance on another crafting class, like the fireblankets will. Maybe armorsmith or artisan for the rebreather and combat med, bio eng or chef for the innoculation....so its not something everyone would have...or even if they had it, they woudn't use it all the time...

But however they decide to do it, I agree that we need more defense against poisons and diseases generally in the game.

Rebreathers are air filters/ airtanks... more of an engineer item IMO.

OK, then have an artisan build them with parts made by doctors. Its still a good idea isnt it?

this would basically render the combat medic profession useless not very balenced IMO.

After all the massive cries for a CM nerf, I see it happening soon. I'm surprised it hasn't happened as of yet. Who says the anti-poison/disease devices have to be 100% full-proof? Maybe limit their effectiveness, much like armor is limited...

i have no problem with a nerf on cm i think we deserve it, just dont think rebreathers are the way to solve it. They need to solve the bigger problems like not being able to resist poions/diseases, poison stacking, aoe effect going through walls etc...

To wear a rebreather you have to remove your helmet. So you have a choice, do you want protection from poison/disease attacks or do you want protection from weapon damage ?

I think these should be added to the game as craftable items, but I agree that doctors aren't really the people to be making them, unless we (or CMs) make say the bioweapon filter element that you have to keep replacing (just as armour degrades through use, the filter element should be used up as it protects the wearer).

Seeing how a rebreather takes up your helmet spot, this is probably something that won't be used in PvP too often. I'd like to protect my noggin, but that's just me.

If doctors don't make them, then who exactly should? Should a doctor make a fire-blanket? I think this goes along the same lines. Adding a rebreather in-game will make the doctor dependent on other classes or vice-versa. It could also stop the long-ass threads crying for a CM nerf.

I thought it would be a great in-game addition, and I was hoping others see the same. Maybe I should bring the thread to Game Guides for a much larger audience to view.

A more general forum might get you more response, and make it a more debated topic. I don't PVP much anymore, and probably won't again, until they fix all the base stuff... so I don't get poisoned a lot.

This is a game guide forum, not a general any SWG topic forum, find the forum appropriate for your idea in the professions forum and post there please.
