Great idea--you're right, we don't change minds by posting here. While we won't chnage those players who just philosophically think if you choose to be a doc you choose to serve everyone who "needs" help...we can maybe educate a few players who are pretty clueless about why their demands on docs (combat meds or medics)can be out of line...

You covered the main ones, but here are a few more...

(1)If you are friends withsomeone withdoctor/combat medic/medic skills, please respect that they may not want toplay the "healer's role". [partially or at all]in a group battle or hunt. If you invite someone to group b/c you want adedicated healer, please explain that to them.

(2) Remember there are no veterinarians..if you have pets, please keep them healed yourself and do not expect those with healing skills to do it for you. Pet food cures pet wounds, and pet stims are available to heal pet damage.

(3) Please do not hold back from using your own medic skills in battle if there is someone with higher level healing skills in your group, unless you're asked to do that by someone wanting medical experience.

(4) Please think very carefully before giving up medic skills. Even if you have good friends who are medics, doctors, combat medics, or you have more than enough money to get buffs, remember that other players just aren't always going to be around or willing to help you out.

(5) Please remember that medic centers and camps can heal wounds and that anyone with novice medic skill can use the Wound Pack B's that heal over 100 points of wound damage at a time (available at most med stores). Please also remeber that disease and poison do wear off.

(6) Please appreciate that anyone playing a healing role in battle is spending their resources to help you...outside of first aid, almost every other skill a healer does uses crafted med goods. Some of these med goods are rare or in short supply, others are not.

All,

Like you I am a M. Doc and have been for a long time and will, most likely, never give it up.

Also like you there are some things that I wish others would think about when they interact with Docs. If you look at this forum you will see two types of whining.

1. Issues with the game itself.

2. Issues with others that request doc services.

Clearly the first issues is out of the gamers hands and up to the Dev gods to fix. We have many posts collecting feedback to give to them and with luck we get things changes.

This post is in regard to the second biggest whine. There are so many comments about how we feel that we are not treated this way or that way. The bad news is that all we are doing is whining do yourselves. If only docs read your issues then how will things change????

My goal is to collect 5 things we would like others to at least think about when working with aDoc. I will word smith them so that they do not sound like bitching and then repost them here. If I get good feedback here I will post the list to the other forums so that we get a wider audiance.

Hereare a few examples:

1. Please understand that, although we are a Doc, we may or may not be able to give you Doc services when you request it. We simply may have other plans at that moment. Please do not take our"no" to your request for a buff/rez/heal personaly.

2. When asking for a rez, please be sure to /consent to the doc. You may cost a doc is life by not having the /consent taken care of quickly.

3. Buff prices and quality vary from doc to doc. Some things that make things vary are:

a. Resources - Cost of raw materials, quantity, quality, etc.

b. Location - Law of supply and demand. If your at the Crystal Cave expect to pay more than at Coronet.

c. The Doc - Some docs simply don't like to buff for cash. They like to other things. As a result they often charge more.

d. Timing - Like location, if there is only one doc in town and there is a line a mile long expect prices to be a little higher.

As a buffie you will never know all the things that went into the pricing of buffs. Just remember, if you don't like the price simple don't buy the product. As a Doc, all we ask is that you keep a friendly dialog with us.

I could go on and on but I think you get the idea.

Please post what you feel you would like other professions to know. Try to write it as if you are requesting a behavior change from another player.

Yeah, people in SWG seem to assume tht te other person is automatically a jerk. The recent threads from docs, and people abused by docs have this in common... everyone thinks the other person is a jerk for crimping their play style.

Most people aren't jerks, they just want to play the game. Working together to form some kind of understanding is good. You may want to post this in a general forum where more non-docs can see it.

Not much use to me, because I am actually a Jerk

this goes a lot on what i believe as well. the general populus thinks that because you are a doc, you should drop what you are doing and take care of them.

Honestly, I have not had much of a problem with this tho. As a doc, I will buff on request or if I anounce that I will buff. I make much more money selling enhance packs on my server than I do actually DOING the buffs. People are becoming much more independent (which will change with pub 7 when med use 90 packs will suck), and like the idea of buffing themselves over standing in a "mile long line" to get average buffs.

A lot of people dont understand that there is a HUGE variance in effectiveness of enhance packs. My better packs (not best) run about 870 power. With med droid and +25 wound treatment, I can hit pretty close to 3300 on a high enhancement (I read once on these boards that wound treatment bonuses and med droid dont make a difference in enhancements, but ever since pub 6, I quit wearing my +25 pants because they decayed out, and I havent hit anything over 2800.) When my customers come to me and say that they are getting 2800/3000 enhancements from my packs and want to buy more, I rejoice. This is my buisness and I love to see it thrive.
