Thread: Some doctors really suck -RANT-
Well i am almost a master doc (4-4-4-0) and i buff anyone who wants to be buffed by me i dont really care about there faction but i do know that some people get ratty bout low buffs (my average is 1.5k) but at the end of the day it is there choice whether to except buffs from a 4-4-4-0 doc so yes i do see that some people are just plain rude sometimes (but only some)
And our fun isn't ruined by lines of demanding and sometimes rude players growing at an exponential rate. Not at all.
I've since done a sort of non-hostile takeover on Phoenix's master doc/master musician character on Radiant, since he doesn't play it much. I use him to buff my master ranger/master gunfighter character, and that's about it. I earn so much money as a master gunfighter and ranger, I don't need the credits. However, I do need him to keep logged in (usually without a tag, though sometimes I don't get to it right away and it's "BUFF ME NOW OMG H8TRS"), in case something weird happens and I get killed and need a res or a heal or whatever. Since Phoenix is such a non-combat character he can bring mission payouts *down* in a group, it doesn't make sense for me to bring him out into the wilds of Yavin IV or Dant where he's vulnerable unless it's absolutely necessary.
All those people who have pestered and harassed me (while playing as him) for buffs, despite being politely told that I'm only buffing my primary character or I don't have the packs (which is a lie, I almost always have crates of packs but it keeps the harassment and name-calling to a minimum), it's indicative of the misconception that doctors are in this game to heal people and make people better and set poor little Fluffy's broken leg and Further The Cause Of Medicine. Here is where doctor services in the *real world* present a fundamental break with the SWG-verse. Namely, that nobody is really going to *die* if we don't provide buffs. Amnesty International is not going to break down Sony's doors because our doctors will exercise their free market choice and choose not to buff people or heal people (and guess what, harassment only makes our non-buffing resolve tougher, so way to go guys!). In fact, I urge you to call the United Nations *right now* and demand that they set up a tribunal investigating all the people... excuse me, entirely fictitious computer game characters which never existed in any point in history either, who have died horrible and agonizingly painful deaths because someone decided not to up your stats in favor of improving the quality and funof their own gameplay. And when they convene the Loser War Tribunal, they'll conclude (rightly) that...
It's. A. Game. Also, go into the Tosche station to pick up some power converters. (/LukeWhine)
In addition, if you get sick of actually having to look for a doctor who is buffing commercially, or not being able to find buffs entirely, do what I do. Pay the extra money to SWG every monthto have a phat doctor/musician character to buff your combat character.
Bottom line, I'm not in it for money, I'm not in it for healing. Phoenix is, de facto, a support character for one person (and, on occasion, the IRL friends which comprise our guild). On rare occasion I will do commercial buffs, but I am under no obligation to do anything which interferes with the fun of my gameplay. Thank you, drive through.

I hear so many of you say "it's my right.. it's my choice not to buff or to deny buffs" Ya I suppose that is true. But consider this:
Doctors who choose todeny buffs to a neutral player is effecting the game play for alot of players around him/her . I have seen as many as 5 people at a time get rejected for asking for buffs. It's not like we can go out and get buffs from an NPC if a player says no.We are forced to continue our search, or do somthing less exciting and even boring. So when you are saying that.. what you are really saying is "it's my right to ruin the funof others"Just consider that next time you blow somebody off.
LOL!
Okay, first of all, let's define "ruining the fun of others." Here is what, in my opinion, falls under the category of ruining gameplay for others:
Harassment
Spamming
Exploiting
And other various activities that can generally upset another player.
Forgive me, but ME making a choice to not buff someone will not ruin anyone's gameplay. It might make things a touch more difficult for them, but if they're a rebel, and I'm an imperial, that's sort of mygoal. As for my refusal to buff neutrals... I'll do it if I KNOW they're neutral. My only exception to buffing rebels is Jedi characters. I'll buff them if I know their original character is an imperial.
Please don't tell me that I ruin gameplay for others by making a choice to help my faction. The devs coded in a whole gameplay aspect revolving around that. It's called the GALACTIC CIVIL WAR.
No, they're not.
I sometimes feel pretty rotten about the whole business ... ever had someone lose pretty much all dignity when pleading for buffs? Not pleasant at all, especially when they're a mate
, & you just can't.
Buffs are considered by too many peopleto be too important.
Iam.
