I'm estatic when I get a buff that good. It's just part of the playing the game I think, you get jerks and you get some really nice people that are very happy you are offering buffs. The only thing I can say is just let it roll off you the best you can, some people just want buffs for free, and really don't like paying for anything.

I was going to post my own thread on this topic since I just had yet another run-in with a disgruntled customer. Someone just asked me to wound heal them, I told them that I could not at the momment. They called me a liar and of course that brought up an entire discussion about how rude he was and how much I did not appreciate it. The discussion went on until the follow comment was made by him: "when a buff costs me 6k, and in the 3 hours I have it I can make 200k". Now I'm not sure if this individual is going a little overboard in saying 200k, but I wouldn't be surprised if he could make at least 100k. It seems a little odd to me that we only charge 6k-10k for buffs, when in actuality we could probaly easily get away with 15-20k. Oh and BTW, he went on to say how stupid us Doctors are since we could be charging more, and are not. He was not the first person to make this type of comment with me.

I ask to you, Doctors Unite! (Entertainers included)

How many professions charge for any services rendered? I also ask you to think of how many people have tipped you out of the hundreds you've healed?

I'm not trying to act cheap here, or say that it is all about the money, but heck, why should we let people take advantage of us?

Healing professions are not respected for their great importance in SWG.

Trust me, I've been thinking the same thing lately too. I mean, let's break this down:

I pay 90K for a crate of buffs (per crate of 5), 29 charges in each pack. That's 540K for 145 buffs. That equals out to 3724 credits (took off the 13 cents or so) per buff.

But wait, I'm not done!

Add in 200K for a crate of BE Vasarian Brandy. 18 use, 25 items per. I make sure I have a double dose at all time buffing.

Add in 90K for a crate of +19.9 Bivoli. If SPE allowed it, I'd have the double dose, but it only allows one.

Did I spend 20K for my 110 droid? Why yes I did. Also spent 20K on my BE clothes too. An I got them dirt cheap, I might add. I have a hookup with chefs and tailors, so I get the stuff for a little over half what the normal price is. And yes, Kettemoor has 350K crates of brandy selling out nightly.

We're undercharging, especially when I buff a group of 5 going rancor hunting. I make 50K off them. They get collectively 600-900K off the buffs. Figure 10 missions for the 5, paying 30K each, 10 missions per hour collectively, for 3 hours.

On a side note, ever since I started using the Bivoli, I'm buffing like a madman. 3000+ for all 6 isn't unheard of. I buffed a guy today, giving him the option of 1 credit per point, or a flat 10K. I buffed him for 2600 health, 2900 action, 3200 on 2 substats, 1500 and 1800 on the others. You'd think he'd be thrilled no? I made the mistake of saying "Sorry about the low buffs on the subs, did you have any fatigue?". He ranted to me that *I* should have told him that he had fatigue (or asked) before I buffed him. I told him that would be the equivalent of a McDonalds worker asking if someone was lactose intolerant before handing them the cheeseburger they ordered. I quickly added him to my ignore list, and when he told others about my "horrible" customer service, others responded that I was the one of the nicest Docs in Coronet. Some people are just never satisfied.

Whenever people complain about my price of 1 credit per unit enhanced, I give them an alternative:

10% of the profit gained while using my buffs.

They usually pay my fee after that.

well ive recently gone back into the buffing for pay business. ive taken a more hard line approach to it though. i still dont advertise. i sit down and pull out my droid. i turn on my afk tag and in my afk message is this:

"yes im buffing. my price is 10k. no refunds. paid up front. i wear +25 bio clothes. have +110 med droid, and eat bivoli for best buff results. all my buff packs are 900+ power. i cannot control buff results. buffs have randomness. this disclaimer should answer any questions or complaints."

that little message has saved me so much grief. anyone who has anything negative to say instantly goes on my ignore list. since ive started using this method though i have had near 0 complaints or further questions. people either sit down and pay the 10k or they just wait 20+ minutes in the 6k buffing lines. the people that come to me seem to be very pleased though and im amazed at how many big tips ive gotten doing this. other docs are charging 6k and get the "6k" customers. i.e. usually newbs or ingrates who want a 20k buff for 6k or less. not once has anyone dared to ask for a refund for bad rolls, but my clientell is so much more courteous now that i have on occasion tipped back 1-2k for the occasional bad roll.

not getting grief actually puts me in a good mood and i find myself being a little more easy going with my customers. i have lots more repeat customers too. im getting tells all the time from previous customers who want to come to where i am to get a buff! and often times this is with my doc tag turned off! ive also noticed a lot of the 6k buffers starting to up their prices when they see my line and quality of clientell. a few 6k docs send me tells asking why my buffs are better! lol. i tell them that my buffs are no better than theirs. i just offer a speedier service for 4k more than they are charging. people pay for quality, but expediency is also important to many. sure i dont have a line of 20 people putting me in tell hell. my line is usually 2-5 people tops, but it keeps me plenty busy and i make 80% more profit. im actually thinking of upping my prices to 12k even. double the going rate, but twice as fast.

I just began using a new advertisement, and it is working VERY nicely.

"I'M BUFFING. My buffs start at 10k. They go to 15k if I can hit 2k+ on 4 stats. 20k if I hit 2k+ on 5 stats."

You may be surprised that I get near zero complaints, and if there is no other Doctor around I make a killing. I use this advertisement in Coronet all the time now.

I would rather work for pay than for tips IMO.
