I would add in here that it's also possible that a covert factioned Doc also has some extra reasons to be wary when buffing anyone who would "appear" neutral to them. Primarily because it is always possible that this supposedly "neutral" individual they are trying to buff could be a TEFfed opposing faction member. If that is the case the buffing Doc would get an opposing faction TEF (meaning they can now be killed by thier OWN faction) and they would be immediately ejected to the front door if they are in a building. So coverts do put themselves at a certain level of risk in that manner. They also have the risk of at least getting a TEF if they buff their own covert members (and obviously if they do Overts), but at least they can expect that their own coverts are less likely to lie about having a TEF so the Doc can at least be better prepared either way.

Ummm...

You can't heal/trade/buff opposing faction members if they are TEF'd. If you are worried about getting a TEF, it's actually safer to buff the blue dots instead of the purple ones. You can only get TEF's from the purple dots

Ok I agree with everything everyone has said.. even things that are against me. First of all I expect nothing out of anyone ok? lets get that strait first off. I am a SOLO player therefore getting buffs is just a killer bonus for me. I DO NOT expect ANYONE to "SERVE" me ok sorry but that kinda pissed me off.

Secondwhy should I respect a person who treats me like I am worthless lowlife? If I am being treated like a used douche bag because I ask for service from a person who offers that service and gives mecrap in return why does this make me the bad guy?

The whole issue is that people are creeps about it. It's not weather they choose to buff or not.. Fine if you dont want to buff me.. whatever I don't care I will go where I have to for what I need. Tonight I was denied buy 4 Doctors. I was on Lok and didnt want to go back to Theed or Corellia to get buffed. There were 3 master doctors on Lok when I logged in. Iewe and his/her friend and another that was afk. None would help me.. No problem. Ok I go to Theed. I wait for 5 minutes for Se'vyn to fully log in. . . No cigar "sorry not buffing tonight" I offer 10k (all I had on me) and all I get is "lol sorry" Ok whatever no big deal.. These people refused service to me BUT they were civil and kind. That's the difference. And I didn't get some lame ass "your a rebel, or Imperial" excuse.

I understand that it gets old. Just likeaMaster smuggler. You cannot enter any city without 10 people a minute asking you to slice somthing. No problem... that's why we have the ability to change our title!?! Duh!!! Nobody is going to ask a novice marksman to slice his flame thrower!

It's not only me who is offended by this attitude. Yesterday while I was in Theed another player wanted buffs. That Heidi chick offended him, too. He was also a neutral player and after talking with him for awhile I learned that he was neutral for the same exact reasons that I am.

I think this explains alot. When I was asking for buffs from Heidi another player asked her, "if you are rebel why the hell are you in Theed" She said in responce "To piss off as many Imps as possible" What an attitude...

i wear my master doctor tag and dont bother to hide it. if i get tells are you buffing from strangers i just dont respond.

ive spent a lot of money to make crates of really high quality buffs and i aint burning them for your measly credits that are so inflated and worthess on bria anyways.

and if they keep trying to poke me in tells i just throw up the AFK so my REALLLLY LONG and annoying message will hit them over and over.

You sure about that? I don't do much public buffing myself and I know some kinds of TEF changes did go in, so I don't doubt I could easily be wrong about that. Maybe that's just what used to happen, then.

It's been this way for a long time now. They changed it to where you could not help/trade with overt or TEF'd members of the opposite faction back in the first month of the game.

Now, that's not to say there aren't bugs from time to time, where you can get TEF's on other members/npc's of your own faction. But, those bugs all involve group TEF, pets, or AOE shots. Only way a doc will get a TEF when buffing is by buffing members of his own faction that are TEF'd or overt.

Kill em with kindness Marrow, that's the best advice Iv'e herad yet. Thanks foryour post!

I played Ultima Online for about 5 years. I was the guildmaster of one of the biggest dread guilds on Napa Valley back in the day. so I am no stranger to PvP. But I don't know jack about the system on this game as I have never participated in it yet.It would be nice if neutral players had their own specific name color,or amarkin their profile perhaps. Thiscould help the situation a bit it seems to me. This way everyone who is neutral would beclearly identified.

Unfortunately, the point of being covert is to appear to be neutral, while not actually being neutral.. Having their own color would defeat that purpose..

Now that I am POSITIVE is not the case. It's been that way for at most 3 months. Max. I know because it was still high on the issues list back then and had not been resolved when we were doing a bunch of testing with it. So this change is fairly recent. Definitely after the eject-from-building thing with TEFs.

Coverts getting TEFd by opposite faction with a TEF was still in last I heard.. and it was intended too (TEFs are a local situation "someone saw you" kinda thing, so helping somone that has a TEF gets you a TEF).

That's they way it goes I guess.

I can forgive people like that if they are Roleplaying, they don't have to buff you, simple.

Does the search filter allow you to find a neutral doc?

And don't get pist-off when you get a faction buff denial, keep trying, I'm a Reb and I'll buff a straggling Imp for some cash.

I won't buffa group of ImpsEVER, cause they are probably going off to destroy something Rebel (DIRTY IMPS!)

I am rebel and regularly buff rebels for free and charge imps 15k. I don't do this all the timebut on a fairly regular basis. I still buff the imps but I do charge them more than average for them. Other times I just charge 10k a pop. I won't buff PvP guild members of imp faction either. If they are going to hit my friends (who mostly PvP) I don't want it to be my buffs that give the imps the edge they need. I am also a CM so if I get a real jerk I ask if they want to duel because it will help with the buffs, I hit them with good diseases to as many stats as possible before they kill me. (usualy I can get all 6.) and tell them not to be a jerk next time. (ok so I only did this once but the guy was being a total arse hole.) Was realy funny because it was on Dant and there were no other docs around that day. Poor guy. I feel almost bad about it but I met him the next day and he was much more cival so I buffed him.
