Thread: Yesterday I Was Insulted for Asking 12k for Buffs

On the rare occasions I buff I have a strict policy. Anyone who goes on the ignore list of either of my characters gets added to the other. If I can't hear you ask that means at some point in the past you have p1ssed me off by either AFK spamming, smack talking or just offending me in some way.

I don't care if I buff 5 of a 6 person group and leave the last one buffless. People are coming to learn that Docs are the people you don't want to upset. Every other transaction in game can be done via a third party. Be it via character to character sales or a shop you are banned in. When you buy a buff set you are paying a fee forthe actual product AND a fee for that person's time levelling and sat there waiting to help you do your thing.

If someone is there selling for 6k fine let them, go somewhere else if business is slow. Try an advanced planet, put in your message you are using BE clothing and food to enhance the buff and charge 15k. Do this at the same time each day as often as possible and you will get people sending you online check /tells to see if you are on station.

If you use the high end packs go to where the high end players are, then give them a chance to notice you are usually there at a certain time. I'ts easy to make 150k an hour doing missions on Dantooine for example so 15k for 2.5-3.5+ hours of that is easily worth 15k. Good thing is with brandy being so good you don't need a mind buff except for PvP so people can come straight to you.

Same as in the real world, you want the same as average Joe you get it at a cheap price, you want something that little bit better you're gonna pay for it. Cater to that higher end crowd and you will find them very appreciative as they know what you enable them to achieve in their game time.

why are you overcharging or even buffing at all when you 45 million credits? 12k is too much i think. has the cost of making buffs really doubled?

I have 45 million credits?

since when?

and if i had any money that's my own concern not yours you are paying for a service, for the cost of the factory to be run for the gathering of resources and the often overpricing of resources collected by rangers and scouts who jack the prices way up and yet you are gripping on how much it costs you to get something that lasts hours and often prevents you form returning to the med center as often??

This is the classic case of someone i would buff once and then never again.

We are trying to emulate a real economy, so show some professional curtesy to your colleagues by not undercutting toan extreme.

This is fine if you're trying to emulate a socialist economy... A capitalist economy is driven soley on the fact that there are people willing to undercut as much as their cost/benefit analysis will allow. While I agree that making more on buffs is great, and hope to do it soon myself. If I'm less profitable because other docs are charging less then I need to re-evaluate my expectations.

Take a look at any Econ 101 supply/demand curve for proof... It clearly shows people willing to buy/sell above and below the equilibrium price... that's what capitalism is all about.

oh yeah. Forgot to mention also that the professional curtesy you speak of is called Price Fixing in the real world and, at least in the U.S., is in violation of the Sherman Act of 1945 and will alnd you some serioious jail time.

If people want good buffs, they last 3 hours and you get 2400+....if they are using them to runmissions they will make in that 3 hours easily 100-300K. 12K is nothing considering it allows them to make that kinda cash.

Yamadaman hit the nail on the head.

look at my responses to other posts on buff price fixing.

nuf said i still stand on my 8k price for 902/11908/27 packs.

using 110 droid +25 clothes and +25 bivoli i hit for 2500.

and making the packs and comps is easy make schem pop it in go hunt or buff or whatever.

easy as pie the pain in the but is waiting for spawns of good resources.

being a doc is not as hard as a lot of you docs would like to make it out to be.

Ihave never been quarantined but the more i look around the better it looks.

Any doc can charge any price for a buff..... and get it.

I have walked into coronet and said "I am charging a CRAZY 20k for a set of buffs". Guess what? People jumped out of the 6k/set line and came to me. Yes, this was with static buffs hitting the same as the 6k/stat buff guy (I asked).

Some people would rather pay 20k and no line than 6k.

I got the same number of hate tells as I got thank you tells. I can understand the thank you tells because I

1. Saved the uber players lots of time.

2. Saved a few of the 6k/stat buffies from having a few more people in their line.

But the hate tells I just don't get. By walking into coronet and buffing folks for what the buffie felt was a valuable service why the grief? Do these people yell at the vender term when a pistol costs more than they are willing to pay?

No, I would not have charged 20k if I was the only doc in town (monoply). Not becuase I couldn't. Just my choice.

Yes, I buffed a few newbies for free inbetween ubers.

Yes, I always heal for free.

I make a good living off buffs but if you ask me they would be the first thing the Dev's would kill.

I never tried to be in charge ofdeciding your buff's worth. That's pretty silly comment. I am asking that we all raise the rates. Of course it's it's always been your choice.

Make up your mind. Which way do you want it?

How about you show someprofessional courtesyto other doctors and not denigrate them for charging what they feel is a fair price.

Whynot include my apologyin the quote?

And asking doctors not to under cut to an extreme and raise their rates is still not setting a single rate for all.

Asking them to show professional curtesy is not denigrating them.

Ok lets put another taint on this......Buffs are priced on the doctors time NOT the cost of the resources.

Iam a MST DOc and MST TKM.....I buff myself i takeGiant baz nitchmissions on Dath for 11k a time. I do mission in less than 1 minute (i ignore baz's smash lair leave) and do 22k in approx2-3 minutes, I have made 150k-200k per hour before nowusing a buff i bought from another doc and applied myself.

Now i buff the public...at 6k takes approx 1 minute person..I get agrroed by price..recharge droid ..confused one customer I forget a stat to do, start buffin someone else stop, agg agg the whole time, noob turns up'whats a buff' ..im on chimaeraa newish server, unlike the older servers we dont have lines up customers id be luckyto do 100k an hour at 6k ..you do the Math on this.. If i buffed 60 people per hour yes 360,000 credits ...in reality with the chaos that ensues this drops in half to about 150k same as a baz nitch set of missions, if i group with some nice guild mates who leave me too it i can do rancor missions at 30k a time i can make even more!

Because I can buff myself at will and go and do most of the challenging missions in the game i can far out earn the buffing rateof6k, and its more fun and less agrro. To make me think about buffin the public again Id need 12k to make me consider it seriously.

Finally as someone posted before...you dont aggro weaponsmiths or rip off architects about their prices because they have vendors..unfortuanatly for us we have to apply the buff in person so get moaning and groaning by all sorts. Now if the other crafters had to hand over their craft in person 24/7 then they would get it too, quite frankly people want to know a rip off go see any of these they take the complete P**S!!

amen to that. I freaking tired of doctors saying 8k and 6k is what everyone should charge and is a fair price. Well all i got to say is kiss my behind, if you value your time that cheap then you need to get a life were your time is worth a little bit more. As for the rest who feel charging 12k is fair, than all I got to say is GOOD FOR YOU.

ooBoBoo You should not have to apologize for anything on this thread, nor for any thoughts you have for the professions. You should not have to bend over and take it just because a few people think you are immoral for being a business man.

When I as a doctor I bought pack out right from Matta on Ahazi. 14000 for 32 charges @ 850-875 strength.

I would charge 8k for them. I was not really in the biz for the mo money, i just needed money for holocrons.

If I really wanted I would charge 10-12k.

I did however take the profession as a serious money making class.

I would often go to fort tusken plant my ass down, and charge:

9k for Buffs

2.5k For Rezzing

1 cpu on the Wound Healing (230 = 230 credits ect)

1k on Disease/Poison removal

and 5k to have them actually follow them around and heal them and remove Dizzy, Stun, Ect for 30 mins at a time.

Doctor are here to service the people, and offer a service for them. However, a doctor can charge what ever he feels because for every 1 person that tells him to **edit** off for charging 10k, there are three that just want to be on there way to get xp and don't want to wait for a line of 5-6 for cheap skates.
