Thread: Doctors should get the Mind Buff business!

The problem with that being that going to anything less than a master dancer/musician gives you horrible buffs. SO XP is out of the question.... How about if they get it down to 2 minutes or so, they get together with a deffinitive pricing scheme. If entertainers were making tons of money, you wouldn't see them AFK all the time.
I just can't figure out one thing for the life of me....AFK masters. WHY?!?!?
I talked to some of them, they dance or play just to chill in the cantina and chit chat. So being afk they get tons of cantina conversations, hehe. Some of them do it a a service, they afk dance or play in the deserted cantinas and I have to agree most people don't even tip the non afk dancers or musicians thats why they hav no incentive to buff you or any one else.
Something should be done to blance the Mind buffs to some point near the other stat buffs.
I am lucky and that on Wanderhome there are a lot of "Professional Entertainers" Meaning they do mind buffs as a profession. They invite people into their group and buff everyone at the sametime. Yes a group "passive buff" take a bit longer but you don't have to wait in line. An they even have a few tricks that make the buffs useable for a much longer time. Can't go into it.
I suggest that in the Starwars time and Tech they should be able to do perfromances over Vid cast. Some type of device that would enable you to get their performance from anywhere. That would enable them to broadcast mind buffs any where as long as they have the skill and device etc.
wow.
Icant believe some people are so ignorant. As a master doc and musician (only char) i will tell you EXACTLY why it is so hard to find a person to buff you.
1. People are rude, ignorant, and disrepectful. (as ad oc you KNOW how it is, cmon)
2. The entertainer buffs are very secretive even to those that do it. We get no knowledge of whether the buff has applied, how good it was and so on. Heck we cant even tell whether we are buffing somebody or not.
3. People ASSUME because no resources are involved it should be free or cheap. As if resources are the only thing that counts towards cost. (so um why dont we charge just for resources on doc buffs? time effort to retrieve the resources as well as the cost of the resource.)
4. Real entertainers are NOT in the cantina, well mostly. We are sick and tired of the lagfest the hologrinders have made of the cantinas and have gone off to other places. We were chased off.
5. Anybody that plays an entertainer profession is doing it for one of three reasons.
a. hologrinding
b. second char buffer for main char.
c. be a true entertainer and socialize and have fun in a starwars universe non-combative
if you find the third i can guarantee that if you are nice to them, and take time to talk to them you will get a buff, not to mention probably meet a good future friend.
6. A lot of entertainers actually dont know about the buffs or how to do them.
7. The buff takes so long, to commit 8 minutes to a person is quite the commitment, and then we only get tipped 3k (most i have ever gotten)
My POINT is that it may appear to you that ents dont use their buffs, it may be convenient for you to say lets give docs mind buffs, but the truth is that there wont always be an entertainer available - just like there isnt always a doc buffing in coronet starport.
Here is a tip if you want to get buffed by an entertainer, and this should be standard practice anytime you walk into a cantina looking for an entertainer.
1. ask if anybody is at the keyboard, and that they send you a /tell. (do to the overwhelming spatial spam.)
2. be polite dont just say BUFFME!!!1!1!!11. in fact if you sit and chat for a second and dont treat us like a buff bot (like we all know docs get treated like and we HATE it).
3. ask how high in ent they are. if they are a novice elite or higher they can buff. it wont be as good as a master if they arent a master, but anything is better than nothing right? besides you never know that person that you took the time to talk to may become a master at some point and you may get the chance to get a buff anytime from them.
4. get the buff.
5. tip, and say thank you.

Actually your making a big assumption. I am actually a good doc. I go out of my way to answer calls to staff a medcenter for an emergency heal. I give free buffs to noobs and am very pleasant. You just have a prob with what I'm saying. I'm not home crying about it.
I never said it took me two hours to get to the point of runing missions. I said that the buffs were to short lasting for all the work in getting them. 10 minutes for the shuttle, lag time to arrive, 5-10 minutes to join up with a decent group. 10-15 minutes till everyone gets the missions they are after, travel time to the first and second mission...by this time you have used up a large portion of your buff. When its gone you have to go through another hour or so just to find a live Ent with the ability and desire to buff and ten start the whole process over.
Really you should give it more thought before flaming me. I am hardly the first Doc or player to call for this change.
I never said you were a bad doctor and that you didn't give good buffs. But in your first post you did basically insult everyone that is a Dancer or Musician. Maybe you meant something else, but that is the way it looks to me.
"I never said it took me two hours to get to the point of runing missions. "
Correct, you said it took 2 hours to get done with those 2 missions. Even with your times that leaves 1 hour 25 minutes + lag? to run the 2 missions. Again maybe your experiences are different, but I have never been in a group where it has taken 40+ minutes to complete 1 mission.
I think this could be solved very simply. Here is the root of the problem:
If you are a Musician, you can't buff yourself (like Doctors can) so you personally have nothing to gain from using all those points on Musician other than being able to heal your BF/Mind Wounds (which really doesn't play into battle).
If the Devs just woke up and allowed Musicians to self buff the mind than I think we would see a lot of players adding Musician to their template. You would then be much more likely to see a TKM/Musician (Anyone notice the huge # of TKM/Docs out there?) or you would see Musician/Pistoleers. The bottom line is that players are much more inclined to use points on something that will benefit them at some point. As mentioned above, Doctors get the benefit of being able to self buff.... why do Musician/Dancers not get this ability?
I can honestly tell you right now that if Musicians could self buff I would be going TKM/Musician with one of my alts in a heartbeat. Maybe they have their reasons for not allowing it but until Musician Buffs and Doctor Buffs come in line (either they both can self-buff or none can) than this will be the big issue that keeps people from spending points on Musician.
