Scouts lessusefull?

I guess you haven't heard of the rangers complaining about not being able to meet demand for hides and meat huh?

As long as avian meat, herbivore meat, insect meat, carnivore meat and wooly hide are in demand rangers will never be out of a job.

I still think rangers are usefull in groups also. When a big group needs to take a break what do you do. You make a camp.

You have got to admit that forcing someone to make a camp simply to pull out a vehicle or a droid was just plain stupid and was an unnecessary burden for the vast amounts of players without novice scout.

When you are trying to flesh out your templaes 15 skill points is a lot to spend just to be able to call your bike when it autostores on you. Keep in mind that a entire discipline is 14 points so that's an entire discipline you are sacrificing. Are you willing to give up the doc knowledge line just to be able to get novice scout just so you can make a camp to call a droid?

- why should a droid in a city be any better or worse than a droid in the wild?
- a hospital is only as good as the doctors in it, so why shouldn't the addition of a droid help the doctor?

1: This is more of a gameplay idea, not all cities/municipal areas have a medical facility, I don't want to have to run 200m to be able to pull a tent out to be able to buff you as well as I could in a medical facility (I don't want to see all medical facilities becoming clogged up).

2: Three parts to this answer;
a: You can't call droids indoors, so I'd have to go outside, call the droid, then bring him back inside, which is lame.
b: I don't want medical facilities (like Coronets) getting clogged up with hordes of patients, medics *AND* droids.
3: If we're to retain the 110 maximum medical rating that applies to hospitals, but still have droids enhance a medical facilities rating then we'd probably have to drop the medical facility's overall rating AND drop the droid's overall rating such that you could only get the maximum in a hospital with your droid out, anything less than that results in a lower effectiveness, droids should be an alternative to a medical facility, not a prerequisite.

I'm quite happy for logic to take a backseat to gameplay and fairness, logically a trandoshan should eviscerate a human opponent in a melee fight, without question, the lizard should always win, but I'm happy for us to have balance because it encourages diversity, if there's an out and out "best" solution to any problem, that's the only solution you'll see.

Putting aside the issue of what a droid - Doctor - medical center should do for a second, I want to know why the Ranger feels necessary to come look to the Doctor to take a hit for the team. Instead of looking to us to give you a reason to exist, or camp as the case may be, why not look to your own broken system. It would be as bad as us turning around and saying "Well if BE can make huge creatures out of samples, why can they not produce huge Avians with lots of meat on them so we can get enough resources".

If you want us to take a hit from you, I turn around and say, Sure, but what are you going to do for me? Keep charging 100+CPU for uber meats? You want interdependance, make sure it is not too much a one way street.

Back to Droid situation. I am sure every Doctor has his own droid, set up to assist in the manner that best suits them, Customised, so to speak. They get the benifit of working with their 'special' device. Any standard droid is going to be a compromise for commonality. That being said, I am sure it is a tad hard to lug about a huge Bacta tank and other resources in the field. Medical Cure rates should be faster in a hospital. Buffs are application of stimulants etc, not attaching an arm back on (or at least I hope not!). Does this need a Bacta Tank and a crash cart to apply? Hmmm ... Logic and SOE, lets not tread down this path. Suffice to say, lets not try to make it more difficult for a doctor to do what his two real abilites are, Heal and Buff, for the sake of logic that can be as easily turned from the yay to the nay argument and back again fast enough.
