I know when I buff, I make verly little effort to maintain any order. I merely ask the first person to stand in front of me.. and thank him when I'm done. I then say Next.. and the price. Without fail, before I am done with the first buff there is a single file line of folks waiting for buffs. If anyone asks if I am buffing I simply say... "Yes, <my price> and I have a line".

Lines seem to be the one skill that all 95% of SWG players have mastered. No matter how inmature their names or spam or other actions are, almost all can stand in line. I guess it's a positive sign that the Kindergarten system in this country (and others) is working. Yes, I do occasionally get a few folks who sit to my left or rightinstead of standing in line, but I just ignore them. Usally other folks in the line while make fun of them extensively which forces them to leave or actually get in line.

The line also provides a nice visual indicator of who is next, should I actually be concerned about line jumpers. So I can tell if someone just mystically appeared next in line, but it doesn't happen much. Lines tend to be self-enforcing, kind of like lines in banks. In the rare event that I get a Kindergarten drop-out who continually insists on being buffed immediately or simply can't handle simple line concepts. I just add them to /ignore.. and move on.

A funny side note to using lines. When I announce who my last buff will be.. (cuz I'm running low on supplies). Money begins trading hands as folks give up their place in line for folks who want a quick buff. I always make sure to start informing when I still have about 10 left (usally the length of the line), so I don't anger anyone who has been standing around for 30 mins. I just think it's funny when someone gets off the shuttle and pays 30K to be a the back of a buff line.. only to pay me 8 - 10k for the actual buff. Makes me wonder if I charge enough.. heh

This all seems surver dependent. If the surver culture is to make a line then lines form. On Flurry the norm is to just sit and asked to be added to the list.

I would love to see a line, however, just for the fun of playing "Teacher".

A real easy way I figured out was to have people bank tip you the money to get a place in line. That way you get a listed order in your mail menu of who paid first. then you just delete thier gmail as you go.

Jasmina..

I have found a very simple, very effective method of keeping a line.

Make them pay by bank tip. your email box becomes your customer waiting list.

My advertising macro goes something like this

/yell Selling master Doc buffs, (price), Please send e-mail with the word "Buff" in the subject line and I will place you in line.;

/pause 1;

/yell Make sure your BF is down to 0 before hopping in line and you will get better buffs. Thanks for your time.;

I then use my inbox as my line. I also make sure that people know who the next 5 in line are by saying the line order out loud. Keeps most people happy. I don't buff people who are not in my inbox because I told everyone what my stipulations are. I am usualy in enough tell hell that I do not respond to tells from anyone except for guildmates so that is a verry bad way to get ahold of me.

I use the setting for chat that requires an input key to start chatting. What this allows, is for you to scroll back through previous things you have said to edit and restate them.

So i /yell or /say the following :

Current Line : Han Solo, Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker

When people want to be added to the list I just enter chat and scroll up to the message and add them to the end.
When I am done buffing a person I scroll up and delete them fromt he front of the list.

I use this method as well, and it works well for me.

I've been offered 70k to let a guy queue jump before, mad.

LOL. I have seen that 20 people line outside Coronet Starport.

Probably the funniest thing I have ever seen. Everyone was standing in a straight line waiting for buff.

I think all Doc should make them get in line, it's funny as hell

I use physical lines, especially when I have had upwards of 30+ people waiting for buffs - usually along a wall to help maintain the line structure and an afk message thatsays: Yes - I will buff you for xxx amount. Please get in line and WAIT TO TIP UNTIL ASKED. NOTE - My Bio has a brief version of the buff information in it.

I also have an intermitent shout in my buffing macro that repeats price, getting in line, healing BF and checking my bio for buffing information.

The physical line and bio information cuts down on the tell hell and let's me interact with my present customer more. Then when it's the next person's turn I start the macro and I am free to chat with them. It cuts the stress a lot.

Don't know if this has been mentioned but grouping with them will automatically put them in order. Back in beta when people actually had lots of wounds that's how we did it in the med centers. Tends to work pretty good. And if they don't want to group with you then they don't want buffed very badly.

After reading this thread last week, i decided to try the standing line line thing because writting the names down became too much like 'work'. This is a game. So I plop down in Coronet, start my announcment macro, which explains forming the line, wait to be paid, low BF, and random buffs can't be helped. Then I do my buffing.

What I find funny is how it all starts looking like the DMV or a bank line. And I RP the whole doc thing too, so everyone loves to get buffed and the line is not that big of a deal because of the RP'ing. Always wanted to play Doctor Now I can down to yelling "Next!". I highly suggest making a line form in front of you for public buffing, and macros are your friend If I wasn't on vacation I would post my macros that I use. Will have to wait until next week
