If it wasnt for two of my guild mates being doctors, i would swear most if not all docs are complete jerks. I honestly would like a doc that denies people buffs to shed some light on why they do.
I know exactly how you feel man. I felt the same way at times when I saw Docs buff someone, and then turn me away. And then I became a Doc myself, and figured out why.
I could sit here and explain all the reasons to you, but it basically boils down to only a few things:
1. After mastering Doc, there are very few skill points left to get the necessary skills to be self sufficient in gathering the resources needed to make your own packs. It takes both organic, and inorganic, and very often involves being in the wild on advanced planets.
2. Docs that become known for buffing will get tells as soon as they log in, whenever they are seen around, and just at random. I'm sure other professions such as Armorsmith are far worse, but it can get bad at times.
3. Not all Docs (myself included) became a Doc to buff the general public. I wanted to buff myself, and now my jedi. I buff my friends for free, because I don't "sell" buffs.
4. One main reason I don't sell buffs are ignorant/rude customers. I won't go into all of it, but Docs, unlike many other professions, have to deal with every customer face to face when buffing. And until publish 7, our buffs are random...so while one guy loves his 2500 avg buffs, the guy who got 1250 on his health is all pissy and wants a refund. And the Doc had no control over it.
I could go on and on, but if a Doc saysthey arenot buffing, respect his/her wishes. They areplaying the game to have fun at that moment, not to make money.
In all honesty, every single crafting profession has members of that profession that only deals with friends. The only difference is, the Doc who is buffing is the one you see, because it can't be put in a trade window ![]()
If you have any rules about who you will or will not buff, you should set up a hot key to inform anyone in your line of that info!!! It is pretty annoying to wait in line and miss a shuttle only to find out when you get to the front you can't be buffed. I have a macro that informs people in my line that I will not buff overt members of either faction, but that overt rebs can send me a tell to make arrangements if they are having trouble finding a buff - I will usually buff them after I am done buffing publicly.
I recently joined a well known Rebel guild on my server and considered only buffing rebs at that point. However, I usually buff in Coronet and if I don't buff the imps they will just get their buffs somewhere else. I'd rather take their money so I can afford to buff guild members during PVP for free!
Just my two credits for what it is worth!
