Thread: Some doctors really suck -RANT-

I think I may have the easiest approach yet.

If I want to buff for money, I wear my MD tagand my Helper tag.

I got to the Med Center or Starport in Theed or Coronet (sometimes Dant).

I sit down, get my droid out, and starting writing the list.

I charge 10k per set, have +25 BE, a 110 droid, and use all 800+ power.

When I'm done, I take my tag off, and go hunting.

I am a neutral Master Doctor on Sunrunner, and I remain neutral because of people like that. My No Heal list is full of rude people. The problem is that if you're neutral they don't know if you're neutral or covert. I don't usually sell buffs in Theed, because it's lag central and people don't want to pay my prices there. I usually charge 10K for a full set of buffs, and I usually only sell them on advanced planets. Feel free to look me up, I'm usually around Naboo somewhere, when I'm not out hunting.

Speaking from the viewpoint of one of the first Master Doctors on Bria server, I would like to state that you have alot ofbrass telling me...or any other Master Doc on any other server... that we areobligated to buff you or any other player because that is what you or theywant. And, if we refuse for whatever reason, we are bantha poodoo. Listen...I do not tell you or any other player how to conductyour character...operateyour business...pursueyour profession...playyour game. I do not walk up to a Master Smuggler , insisting that he/she slice my weapons and/or armor or a Master Creature Handler demanding that they train my pets with a new command or change their names. And no other player has the right to tell me...or any other player...how they will be playing the game, either.

Frankly, I am tired of all the whining and snivelling (which is why I stopped buffing in the first place)...the name-calling if I decline to buff another player (and I am NEVER rude when I do extend a refusal)...and the insistence that I am there to specifically serve whatever desire or whim another player may be having at that particular moment. On the rare occasions that I do buff another player, it is either a dear friend...a loyal customer...or someone I do not even know that was courteous and polite.

As far as removing my Master Doc tag...did that long ago and it has made no difference in the demands for buffs as word gets around as to who the Master Docs are...

Apparently my friend you need to read the whole thread. And if you did, read it again! Because you missed the whole point. I expect NOTHING out of anybody.. It's all about the attitude. Doctors have just as much right to deny people buffs as I have the right to not make a weapon (im a master weaponsmith) for somebody. But the difference is Im not an ass hole when somebody ask me to do somthing for them. All I ask is the same kindness and respect in return.

I was one of the first Master Doctors on Sunrunner, and the way I see it is that if you refuse service to someone that's your choice. However there is no reason to berude about it. When I refuse someone I just say "Sorry, I'm not buffing right now" or "Sorry, I would rather not do business with you". This is all that needs to be said.

If it wasnt for two of my guild mates being doctors, i would swear most if not all docs are complete jerks. I honestly would like a doc that denies people buffs to shed some light on why they do.

I know exactly how you feel man. I felt the same way at times when I saw Docs buff someone, and then turn me away. And then I became a Doc myself, and figured out why.

I could sit here and explain all the reasons to you, but it basically boils down to only a few things:

1. After mastering Doc, there are very few skill points left to get the necessary skills to be self sufficient in gathering the resources needed to make your own packs. It takes both organic, and inorganic, and very often involves being in the wild on advanced planets.

2. Docs that become known for buffing will get tells as soon as they log in, whenever they are seen around, and just at random. I'm sure other professions such as Armorsmith are far worse, but it can get bad at times.

3. Not all Docs (myself included) became a Doc to buff the general public. I wanted to buff myself, and now my jedi. I buff my friends for free, because I don't "sell" buffs.

4. One main reason I don't sell buffs are ignorant/rude customers. I won't go into all of it, but Docs, unlike many other professions, have to deal with every customer face to face when buffing. And until publish 7, our buffs are random...so while one guy loves his 2500 avg buffs, the guy who got 1250 on his health is all pissy and wants a refund. And the Doc had no control over it.

I could go on and on, but if a Doc saysthey arenot buffing, respect his/her wishes. They areplaying the game to have fun at that moment, not to make money.

In all honesty, every single crafting profession has members of that profession that only deals with friends. The only difference is, the Doc who is buffing is the one you see, because it can't be put in a trade window

On Flurry I am well known to give good buffs. By the time I log in I have at least 10 "Are you buffing" tells in my screen. I do my best to respond nicely with a "yes, im in XXX" or a "Sorry, not at the moment". I had to make a macro just to keep up. This is with or without my Doc Tag.

I let folks pay what they want (since I have good buffs most folks tip well above the average going rate).

Sure, there are many docs that are jerks and I can assure you that there are at least as many buffies that are jerks as well. It is random. The true way to keep someone from being a jerk is to be even nicer to them. The last jerk I got as buffie I tipped 25k and said "I do my best to make every buff the best it can be. Believe me with the randomness of buffs there is now way I can hit the 2.5k per stat that your expecting. It just cant be done. Here is 25k for the trouble I have caused you." Or something like that. It was worth every penny. He was very nice after that. We talked for a bit and I explained the ins and outs of buffing. The 25k just eliminated one jerk buffie in the game and was the best 25k I have ever spent.

My suggestion is that if you are faced with a jerk be it a Doc who will not buff or someone else be extra nice to them. If a doc will not buff you tip them a few k for fun and say "Thanks anyway, maybe next time". Dont expect anything. Make it clear that you are not trying to bribe them but that you just respected their time and wanted to tip them. A guy did this to me and I was so surpised that I stopped hunting and buffed him for free. Again, the key is not to expect anything.

Remember that friends will go out of their way to help a friend. The goal in this game is to make friends and have fun.

These are just my suggestions.

I don't think you can get on someone for choosing only to accept patients of their faction. They may be low on packs, know that their guild is doing base raids that night or have some other reason not to want to buff members of opposing factions. A faction-aligned player cannot tell the difference between covert members of the opposing faction and neutral players. HOWEVER, there is no need to be rude to anyone in the game, regardless of faction (or lack thereof), unless provoked. The doctor you went to just sounds like a jerk.

If you have any rules about who you will or will not buff, you should set up a hot key to inform anyone in your line of that info!!! It is pretty annoying to wait in line and miss a shuttle only to find out when you get to the front you can't be buffed. I have a macro that informs people in my line that I will not buff overt members of either faction, but that overt rebs can send me a tell to make arrangements if they are having trouble finding a buff - I will usually buff them after I am done buffing publicly.

I recently joined a well known Rebel guild on my server and considered only buffing rebs at that point. However, I usually buff in Coronet and if I don't buff the imps they will just get their buffs somewhere else. I'd rather take their money so I can afford to buff guild members during PVP for free!

Just my two credits for what it is worth!

As a Master Doctor, I retain the power to deny buffs to whomever I please. If i say "No", that means no. Flat out. I never buff anyone I dont know. I only buff friends and Jedi. I keep a macro'd response up that states all this, but at the end it does say "... if you really are persistant and require buffs from myself only, I charge 75,000 credits for a full set" This pretty much deters all people who dont know me, and sends them walking.
