I spend at least half my time as a Doc just traveling for resource surveying, harvester moving & maint, etc. If I am in town and someone needs a heal, I ask their faction status and then heal if they are neither Overt nor TEF'd. If I am asked politely for a rez, I ask for a WP and see if I am in the area. Do I feel obligated to do this? No. But I also have no reservations about saying no if I have other commitments at hand.

Just depends on where we are in our game day and how we are approached. But even if the answer is no it doesn't mean we are rude/evil/whatever--we have limits to our time as much as anyone else.

im not a doc, or medic for that matter,im a Master Artisan/slicer and i can understad the doc`s for not bothering to rez you, or heal you for that matter. Its my understanding that this game is supposed to have a "player based echonomy",and for that to work we all must pay for services recived.Personnally i make it a point to tip docs at least 2 -3 k pr rez, dont know if thatsworth anything, but it more of a gesture.

How would you feel, whatever you do in real life or in the game for that matter, if people constantlyMessaged you expecting your services at any time. My bet is that you would be pretty pissed after a while.

I found that most people ask fairly politely and if I'm polite they stay that way.

I woulda healed him.

While I don't carry woundpacks, I do carry crates of components, so I can make stuff as I need it.

I actually get treated better by people seeking wound healing, then I do by people wanting buffs.

I've been seeing politeness going up for live entertainers (as one of my alts) as well now that they have become scarce.

People appreciate what they are missing a bit more when they can't get it.

With no medics in most towns, and rampant tumble-healing in the few that do, a real healing doc is worth gold to the people that don't want novice medic.

As an experiment, I'm leveling a second live doc without grinding, or buffing. He's not doing too badly, though he's not a master yet. If Wound B's weren't at novice medic, I'd be making a fortune. He has not set foot in a major city either (coronet, theed, bestine, etc.)

Today whenI was playing onmycharacter on the server XXXX,I was killed by an overt in Coronet. First of all, I didn't want my stuff to decay so i quickly pulled out my search function and searchs for a doctor. I find 3 doctors. 1 from my own faction and 2 others from the opposite faction. So since I was overt, I could only be revived by a doctor from my own faction.

So what I did was to contact this "doc". I sent her a tell and I got a quick response back. But this quick response was automated. It stated something like: "Buffs are 10k credspr. set. Singles 2.5k creds. Also selling buffs in crates for XXX creds". Oh well... 10 seconds after I got a /tell from another person stating that he was the secretary for this "doc". So I asked him if he could get the doc to revive me. I got a quick response from the "secretary" stating that it was impossible because the "doc" didn't want to leave her customers.

(At this time I already used /notepad and made a note about this "doc")

After 15 min. I finally found a doc who gladly wants to help me, but it was too late.. (Hey, didn't know you could be dead too long ) Only thing to do was to clone. *Sigh*

I found my way back to the star port to find a medic or a doc. I didn't want the previous "doc" to heal me so I found another doctor. I sent him a /tell asking if he could heal my wounds. He answered back that he couldn't. "That's typical" I wrote back. "**edit** *Ignored*" I got from him at the same moment... "Go to a ****ing med center if you want healed. Most docs dont keep wound packs on us **edit**!!!!!" he also wrote.

My conclusion is, why do doctors like those exists? Since when did doctors only think about money? They are supposed to help other people who needs medical attention. Buffing/Enhancing is just a cool feature. And if I'm right, the other doc I found says that if you reached "Master Doc", you're only supposed to carry buff packs to earn money, and NOT healing other people because that's what medics do. I know that with money, you can do whatever you want, but destroying the reputation of all other docs is bad. Since this day, I only get buffs from people I know who doesn't go for the money only, but for the joy and entertainment of helping other people in need.

ok #1

You were teffed or overt...

the doc does not like (i don't) gaining a tef and getting killed for healing or rezing..)

#2

so what if i'm a doc .. nothing forces me to come rez you ... get over it.

#3

learn how the game works .. you were killed in pvp .. you suffer 0 decay as long as your stuff is insured.

#4

he/she has paying customers waiting on him/her for buffs.. just because you are dead does not mean she has to drop everything for you. The galaxy does not revolve arround you .. wake up!

Honestly its ppl like this that cause me to turn off my doc tag as soon as i log in, and make sure my character is not serchable.

Bad enough docs don't have any true pvp punch offencively .. but we have morons like this bitching even more.

Asking for a doctor to heal wounds is like asking for a master artisan to make droid batteries - doctors do not exist simply to serve other players, you have no idea what that other doc was doing at the time, expecting him to drop everything and come heal you is a touch presumptuous, he was right, you should have gone to the med center where up and coming medics can at least get some xp off you.

I don't know where this assumption that we exist simply to service other players comes from, I got the same attitude in EQ when I was a cleric, getting a "hey Cleric boy, I need a heal over here" from players who couldn't be bothered to wait for their health to regenerate itself.

I will generally help other players if I'm in a position to, but don't take me for granted, I'm in the game to enjoy myself as well, and following you around just to fix you because you keep getting killed isn't my idea of fun.

When we get a mission terminal, we will stop buffing for money. When we get regular mission terminals that recognize our master status and have mission payouts that scale accordingly, we will stop buffing for money.

Long ago - people stopped tipping for healing. Even longer ago, people stopped giving us a thank you for healing. We are not here for you, and definitely not here for free. Next time, try tipping in advance, or saying thanks to that doctor that randomly heals you in the Starport.

As far as the automated response: Get a master crafting profession, fly your tag, and see how many /tells you get per minute. Try dealing with that all while dealing with a line (since we can't put buffs on vendors like all other crafted master items [guns, armor, etc])

Most master doctors have stopped flying their tags, and only buff friends and guild members. Examine your actions towards your local healers, and the actions of those around you, and ask again why we "don't do our job".

I sympathize for your situation, but until the time comes when people message me "ffs could you buff me and my friend, for 5k each cause i got no money, and hurry cause the shuttle is here" I will not change my attitude.

What all the other docs said I don't carry woundpacks on me anymore, once I hit master doc, I gave my woundpacks to the medics trying to get the xp. They are there to heal your wounds, if you have a disease or a poison you need healed, then send me a tell. Those I keep readily available as I know that the regular medics are unable to heal those. Quit yer yapping and get over it

What if I twisted the story a little and say they were the only 2 docs, and the other medics at the med center was AFK'ing /tumbletoprone whilst another medic was AFK healing him.

And the other doc i seeked was not buffing anyone when he arrived. Why couldn't he just make some wound packs? What's the problem?
