Doc/Rifle is sick. Full mind migration as a human, and barring getting GTEFed or a long pitched battle against other riflemen, and noone should be able to kill you. With full mind migration you can shake off BH eyeshot, and even Headshots dont do that much to you. Your buffs cover the rest of the HAM. You can wear armor if you want without much notice. A pity Rifle became POTM. I really liked being something different.

As a MD/CM here was my combat scenerio:

  • Disease Health

  • Poison Health

  • AoE Disease Health

  • AoE Poison Health

  • Health Bleed

  • Body Shot 1

  • Body Shot 2

  • repeat as needed

And I was only 0-4-0-4 in Marksman and 4-1-3-4 in CM. I was never much into PvP, I did mostly PvE with groups.

With basically any doc/? combo I think the problem is going to be that with the bulk of your skill points tied in healing that you will basically be a support person. I was a master doc/master pistoleer and found my skills invaluable in pvp but I couldn't do much serious damage. Rezzing, healing, and buffing on the fly all were quite important, but when I found myself in a firefight I dealt virtually no damage and found it hard to hit things with the quirky ranges that pistols possess.

Right now I"m doing TKA/Doc and am having a much better time with that. TKA clearly is powerful when close range and lunge allows you to get into range quickly. In the fray of battle I've found that the distances close quick enough in a large battle that TKA/Doc is a pretty strong combination, perhaps not the best, but something to think about.

Can you counter a kiting rifleman/carbineer/pistoleer with lunge? (im working on the TKM part of my doc atm)

Nope. The big thing to do is to get master brawler (obviously not an option) which I believe has a kd feature to it...could be wrong but this is what I've been told. But regular lunge appears to just be a random HAM target that has a larger range than the 5m cap on TK right now. Guess I should have been more specific saying that lunge can counter range diffeciencies but will not win the battle for you.

In my experience as a TK and against TK's, if a ranged is kiting you there is really nothing that you can, especially if you are one on one. In the larger battles though people usually get bunched up pretty quick in my experience leading TK to be relatively powerful in the big fights....but if you're looking to straight up duel ranged professions you might as well not even try against a smart opponent (i.e. someone who starts the duel more than 10m away)

Just another tidbit about rifles in case you're leaning that way; they are probably due for a nerf since their cap is so low at master. This is not a flame to all the rifleman out there but it's the same as pistoleer was: combined w/ other skills it's too powerful and therefore the base profession will be nerfed. And, it's the flavor of the month it seems. Just something to keep in mind.

Good luck, hopefully you find one that suits you best!

rifleman are snipers, they dish out long range damage. pistols are close-medium range. rifleman need big dmg dealer...and yes im a rifleman/doc. what soe needs to do is put the 2.5X melee dmg modifier back to holding a rifle! that would make it even. no more complaining

Master Swords/Master Rifle/TKA 4004/Novice Medic
-Best PVE template- IMO of course..

"rifleman are snipers, they dish out long range damage"

Right, they do. They also dish out excellent accurate point blank damage. I don't think the 2.5 damage modifier is the solution. Rather I'd like to see them get less accuracy or have absolutely horrid accuracy mods below say 20-30 m (i.e -200 or so). I.e if you're within 20 m, you can only hit with a spraystick (which is more like a pistol in terms of damage and speed). Otherwise you'll miss. Always (or at least 99% of the time).

That would be good balancing. Of cource, at the same time, max pistol range with any accuracy probably should be say 30-40m, with carbines havin 10-50m as their usable range.

however all profs will soon be reevaluated / remade so I'd wait to make any decisions (final ones) until after that (I mean, it could change completely!).

Exactly. Problem is that rifleman far and away destroys every other ranged class. With a jawa ion rifle @ 1.0 second speed cap it obliderates any other opponent. Couple that with a ranged DB and you have a very powerful opponent. I'm not saying that they should be nerfed to oblivion, far from it. I would like to see a bit more consistency that's all. When you're rifle hits me for 900+ in pvp at 1.0s a pop and doesn't miss at point blank range...then something may be awry.

But yes, for the original poster, might want to just wait and see as things are sure to get shaken up.

I do Master Doc/ CM 0/0/4/4 and Carbineer 0/0/0/2 for the KD shot. I do ok. Thought about doinf rifle instead though, but my healing and CM attacks are awesome in group PVP.

As an aside lunge does a posture down, but not the full KD that lunge 2 does....and I still haven't figured out how to edit posts. Oh well.

I say stick out swords, and heal more in pvp. Thats what I do at least. With a little work on your techniques, I think master swords can own in pvp.

Personally I think your probably just better off learning how you fit in a PVP battle.....but I could be wrong.....maybe...
