What I do is target the person and type /follow

Unless they're trying to run back to town or something, this tends to keep you in close enough range to attempt healing.

Or you can just politely point out to your incapacitated/dead groupmate that next time they should stand still so you can heal them more easily. This is much easier to accomplis if they're not an idiot, and you've been doing a fairly decent job healing them and curing other states during combat.

If it takes someone more than a few deaths to catch on, they might be too stupid to save, and you might consider more intelligent people to group with.

Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a combat medic. Oh wait, wrong universe

Ohhh so true. A lass we are all docs and they are will never read/understand this post.

Why do people not understand the /consent? they seem so nervous about it. I have given up. Now I just tell them to

/disband

/invite

That much they can understand.

The hardest part of being a doctor is training your friends how to listen...

It's always a challange hunting with kiters who think we're combat medics!

I have a macro that says "Don't bother running, you'll only die tired!" and does a /follow on the target. I have to use it all the time to get in that critical heal or cure before incap.

Hi. [smiles] Though I'm a fellow doctor, I know I'll probably get yelled at for posting a counter point, but I had this same discussion with my boyfriend perhaps a day or so ago. It mainly consisted of:

"When you're being chewed on, why not 'run to me' instead of just away from the creature while fireing at it?"

I'd thought it made sense, as my healing stims can bring a target literally from incapaciated to full health on average.

He offered a reason as to why. Given the combat systems rather...'poor' handling of dealing with multiple enemies, night time conditions in some respects, and the fact that when you're in combat with something and being eaten alive, it's fairly chaotic to begin with, so being able to 'find' where the doctor is standing, then making it to them, might not be feasible.

I'll admit, I had to agree with his explanation, as I'vehad to run 'towards' a swordsman or the like, while multiple combatants dealt with multiple targets. It's pretty harrowing, and hard to keep up with, finding one team member, and finding them on the battle field. Even if you can 'highlight' and follow the arrow, it's still a bit time consuming, and at times quite chaotic.

While I know their are 'some' combat types out their that run about like mad, It's perhaps not indicative of all the good combat types. Some good combat types run simply because it's chaotic, they may be trying to find you in a fairly chaotic mess while trying to keep the animal off them, or it could be class reasons. Anyone that's ever played a carbineer for instance, knows what their specials do to HAM to begin with.

So while I can sympathize, I can't fully agree in all respects. That being said, what are some of the things doctor's do to help keep their group alive? Do you designate a 'return' point? I'd suggested to my boyfriend about an active waypoint, that might be easy to find in combat, while trying to keep multiple things going at once. Any other suggestions? What do you all do in these situations? (barring letting them just die tired of course )

Just curious. [smiles]

LadyCalla,

The problem is.. Like many of the previous post indicates. The doc TRY to run up to them and they keep running away.

If people would either run to YOU or just Don't move. you can easily find and heal them. My doc for instance is completely a support class If people run away from me. I'll just have to rez them in a few.

BTW I so loved that /consent thing. I've hit ppl with like crit fail buffs like 900 with a 910 power pack. On health.

I'll say "Okay time for you to die"

So they will challenge somone let them KD them.

I'm like okay consent me.

They are "I cannot click on your to choose you"

I say "umm type /consent Kazrin"

they say "it's not working!"

I hit enter uparrow and enter

Either they will time out or get the point i hope

yeah, i never understood why people in large groups run around like chickens with their heads cut off.

-You can't outrun anything worth running from ->It doesn't help (unless you can pass the aggro)

-It makes it hard to heal them -> They're more likely to die

-It makes it harder for them and the rest of the group to hit the mob -> mob takes longer to die -> they take more damage -> They are more likely to die
