Thread: Buffs are random no tip back..
Relatively new master doc here, but I let them choose: 4k or 1/2 cred per point
Trick is I make them choose in advance. That way the randomness is their problem, not mine. I do refund 500 creds if more than 1 hits below 1200.

I'm tired of people complaining about me buffing them for under 1200 and want their money back.... I still had to go out there and harvest the materials and make the packs, just because i buffed under 1200 doesnt mean i'm gonna get my enhance pack back from you...I got the best resources, the best droid (2-1B surgical droid), with 171 BE clothing (yes it says 171 in my skill mods). Some people i'll buff all above 2500 and some people wont see above 2500.
I was hoping someone from SOE would post the formula in which buffs are picked. Also were they ment to be that random? or is that another thing to add to the big book of SWG bugs?
I stopped buffing a long time ago becos of this. And 171 Wound treatment is essentially the same as 125. That extra is all wasted. I had 191 once but I noticed no difference to that of 125.
i havent had to tip back by force. i tip back if they tip me upfront something like 10-15k and if buffs come out bad then i tip them back some of it.
i also gave some guy 2k back cause he traveled with me to korvella since i was in a hurry.
if a buff hits too low as in under 1000, i ask them if i can kill them and rez them to try again. of course i dont charge for the buffs already applied...i dont know i make good money off Doc, but if Doc was my only income then i suppose i'd be less willing to tip back
and of course it also depends on the person being buffed.
The randomness of buffs wsa indeed brought before the devs.
The devs responded wit ha choice.
Fixed number buffs ... based off the packs, skills and + gear (pack strength + wound treatment (which ia a percentage) + droid (+10%) + food (which wasn't in yet then)). You lose the highs an lows, and basically hit the average.
Or keep it the same (with 3+ k buffs and 700 buffs possible)
Docs voted the keep it the same (by a relatively narrow margin). People didn't want to give up their 3k buffs for stability.
Note there was no options to lessen variability... Just keep it as it is or lose the variability entirely.

I guess it boils down to rather or not you want to put up with their whining. If you have like a million or so credits and this guy is spam telling you can either /addignore or /tip 1000.
If it shuts him up then is it such a bad deal? Back when I bought buffs I understood that buffing docs were busy and that the buffs were totally random. I got a total tip back once becauseI had a terrible set of buffs (all the rolls went against me). I think I got 2 stats above 1000 and the rest were around 900 or so. I was happy and didn't complain but the doc basically told me "yuck these are on me friend" and tipped my money back.
I WAS going to do the tip back method but after reading this thread I don't think I will. For me it'll depend on the customer. If they are friendly I may tip back. If they are rude then the price is non negotiable ![]()
