Thread: Can buffs be removed now????
I'm disappointed they haven't fixed ham bars yet.
I am floored that when the patch notes have consistantly read "de-buff" for this patch and that it doesn't mean that buffs can be removed and re-applied by doctors. I was so happy when I read this and figured that this was meant to imply that we could finally overright bad and/or stealth buffs. How disappointing that this wasn't what was meant.
This isn't meant as a slam to Zarlor or Traigus, but I can't believe that you guys have such problems getting information from the developer that you're supposed to be able to interact with. I'm shocked and astounded.
I can't see how people got that idea in the first place, honestly.

Well, I can see how folks would read it that way. If for no other reason than because we WANT it to read that way. At least the current one is a tad bit clearer on that issue then the Test Center Patch Notes were.
As for being floored that we couldn't get a clearer response by direct questioning, don't be. Some folks like to think the Corres have some kind of direct line to the Devs and that we have their ear and a lot of pull. It's just not true and I've said this for a very long time now. We do have a forum where they have said that the Developers are supposed to read our posts, but they are not required in any way to respond, and most of the time they do not. We do get a lot mroe responses from TH now that he is on the job, but even then sometimes he just doesn't know the answer and while it may seem a pretty straightforward thing to us, getting TH to go to some other Dev whose busy on some other thing to give him that answer is probably akin to pulling teeth and I don;t mean for us, I mean it's probably like that for TH. (I don;t know for sure, mind you, since I live in New Orleans and those guys are in Austin, so unless I want to drive 10 hours there's no real way for me to know how things go on a day to day basis over there... then again, it's not like they'd let me into the building anyway.)
We do get Correspondents who come in new all gung-ho and thinking they can change everything by posting 600 times about all their different issues, but they get no better results than the other Correspondents who are far more reserved about it. IN fact the gung-ho ones tend to quit fairly quickly out of sheer frustration that things are not how they expected them to be.
Don't get me wrong here, and this is certainly nothing secret as I've mentioned it many times on these very forums, things are definitely improving. Communication IS occuring. It's just pretty darned slow. We just keep trying to patiently prod it along to get it moving up that tiny bit faster every chance we get. That's just the reality of the system at this point in time, though.

It's already in the works. Check out the issues list and you'll see that the Devs have promised to give us an overwrite ability. We just don;t know when they'll be able to get it implemented.

Hmm...I wonder if people would use this to power level themselves. Buff someone...unbuff them, and then do it again. Granted that would be the most expensive way to powerlevel...but there are a lot more lazy people out there then not.
There are already so many lame and easily exploitable ways to grind medic xp, that thisactually seems like a bad way to do it.
Bha .. now I'm disappointed - thought the days of bad buffs ( and trying to explain to my customers why he got 3000 in 2 attribs and 900 in one) was over..! ![]()
It seems like I offended Traigus. That wasn't my intent. I apoligize if I did.
I understand that you guys don't have any more knowledge than you tell us. I'm disappointed that SOE has a tremendous opportunity to take advantage of you guys in your roles as correspondents, but fails to do so.
Both Traigus and Zarlor do an awesome job for us. Thanks guys.
I was having a very bad day. People were coming at me from about 17 directions, and I was having to track the same issue over no less then 11 threads... forget about other issues, nasty PMs and trying to verify stuff ingame...
The devs are often unclear. It has gotten much better.
I'm still waiting on info on buffs. There may be more then 1 problem here.
