Thread: Doctors should get the Mind Buff business!

Actually your making a big assumption. I am actually a good doc. I go out of my way to answer calls to staff a medcenter for an emergency heal. I give free buffs to noobs and am very pleasant. You just have a prob with what I'm saying. I'm not home crying about it.

I never said it took me two hours to get to the point of runing missions. I said that the buffs were to short lasting for all the work in getting them. 10 minutes for the shuttle, lag time to arrive, 5-10 minutes to join up with a decent group. 10-15 minutes till everyone gets the missions they are after, travel time to the first and second mission...by this time you have used up a large portion of your buff. When its gone you have to go through another hour or so just to find a live Ent with the ability and desire to buff and ten start the whole process over.

Really you should give it more thought before flaming me. I am hardly the first Doc or player to call for this change.

Zarlor, I hope you're right about the combat revamp. I'd like to see this as part of an "elite-elite" profession, 2 branches, 1 crafting for the schematics and 1 med xp that grants the commands and useage bonuses that would be a part of this. Call it psychologist, prerequisite would be Master Doc. Novice psychologist gets /healmind and you'd see mind-related woundpacks and buff packs. Probably won't happen though because then why have entertainers? I disagree about the chef and smuggler stuff because that stuff, when used properly, is an on-the-fly instaheal and buff rolled into one.

Bout all i have to say is mind buffs are the entertainers field and docs will not nor should they get it. But the 8 minuts is a bit long. I think 4 minuts max would be much more resonable. Half the time if i find a master dancer for example they are doing sompthing and dont realy want to go to the cantiena and dance for me...some times this could take a good 20 minuts wen its all said and done depending on where we are and all. I would like entertainers to get a droid that lets em buff out side a cantiena also...like a streat performer. They have that piano thing (name escapes me atm) out side cornet by the sp...but whats the point. And the speakers there and all...sems like sompthing dident get finished there.

I have NEVER seen an ent offering mind buffs..
and every man down I bring back up in the field is because of their mind ..grrr.

The hubby and I were just discussing this the other night. I think we should be able to buff the mind, too. If the profession that has the ability isn't going to make use of it, give it here, I say.

Every man down is because people spam special like freakin morons. And of course Ents aren't going to advertise it. It takes nearly 10 mins for 1 person. If your a doc, then you know people are stupid people areand start cring if the doc buff line is more then 2 people. Ents do use there Buff abilities, I have never had a problem getting a buff from an Ent that is at the keys. you just have to /tell them. They reply takes ten mins and set the /setperformance on you ten mins later I have 110% mind buff (if they are master). That's all they have to do. I've actually never even been ASKED for payment although I pay my Ents 20k for mind buffs.

Don't forget either; Ents are like us Docs.....you treat them like **edit** and they will go AFK or just totally ignore you. Hell you don't even have to treat them like **edit**....the person before you could have peeved them off. You all just need to get over the fact of Doc's mind buffing. It will never happen

Yep, entertainers buffs take waaaaaaaaay too long..and thats the real problem. Its discouraging for them to stand there and have 30 people asking for buffs when you only really buff maybe half a dozen, because you was to play your char not buff minds all night. What would us Doc's do if we had to wait 10 minutes in between each buffs?

What would entertainers do if they had to find rare resources to craft items they used to do mind buffs? There's a flip side to everything.

For me, the problem is actually finding some who is at the keyboard and willing to provide a performance buff, not the time involved in obtaining it. I look at that 8 minutes as prep time. Make sure I have everything I need for the coming hunt, contact everyone to make sure they know where to be and what we'll be hunting etc. The timing of the performance buff isn't the issue at all, it's the availability.

And yes, the same thing can be said for docs at times as well. As I said, there's a flip side to everything.

I was simply lamenting the fact I couldn't find any performance buffs and allowed the thought of doctors providing that buff to enter my mind. Never gave it serious attention though

What should be done about this? What can be done to make entertainers actually remain at the keyboard and willing to provide performance buffs? No idea. But I do know that the change to unlocking the FSCS from profession grinding to quest based will remove the hologrinders and allow the true entertainers to return...as I recall, I never had problems getting performance buffs before the holocron explosion, no reason to think I'd have this problem after it's abated...

And SirVimes, As for the lack of chef foods to buff health or action...what the heck? Why was that changed?

I'm not for taking the ability away from entertainers, but there is a difficulty involved in getting the mind stats buffed which could be addressed.

I think it's a 2 part problem;

1. Time - It takes forever to get one and it's hard to tell if you're actually getting the buff. It's got to be incredibly boring for the entertainer to sit there for the duration of the buffing procedure and not do anything else. I'm not sure how it works with the buff bar addition, but I never had any idea if the buff was done or not while sitting there for the ~10 minutes.

2. The Cantina - How many master entertainers do you see hanging out for long periods in the cantina while not AFK? It's like master doctors and the med center. As soon as you master the prof, you have very little reason to go back that building. Most of the entertainers in there are AFK grinding and aren't masters.

That's too much work for anything like thatto happen. I'd bet that what we will see is that they will simply put mindhealing back onto stims, like we had in Beta. So all stims will heal all 3 pools. No muss,. no fuss. A stim heals like a stim is supposed to and we won't be able to exploit it because we would no longer be healing the bar we were using to do the healing in the first place. Predtty simple solution, really. Mind becomes exactly like every other bar in comabt, instead of THE determining factor. The revamp should also cover ensuring that the primary Mind Damagers still have some form of compensation for their other drawbacks.

Yeah, I allowed myself some wishful thinking there Like I said though, I do hope what you're saying about stims and mind damage comes to be. That alone would satisfy me.

not to put a shoe in this thead, but im a masterdoctor with chef 0034, im make good mind buffs. no bio goods added +428 to all stats, for 45 mins, with bio goods u can be over 800 to all mind stats, so just grab a couple of chef skills and you can do this fine. the buffs im making right now are actually 214, but filling is 49, so u take 2 at a time. and i dont need to stop and pull out a droid to use em. just click the button while on my speed when im ready, and instant buff for the mind.

Relax...It's just an update for the patch to fix the nerf that nerfed the fix for the update of the patch that broke the fix that was fixed on the previous nerf they called an update....

I'm working doctor right now, ALMOST master, and working fencer too while I'm at it. I have my secondaries maxed, my health & action at minimum, and my mind at 1300, for this one simple fact: NOBODY gives mind buffs anymore. There's either a 4 person line (I'm not waiting 50 minutes for my buffs to come up) or everyone's AFK. I'm lucky enough to be friends with a master dancer who'll mindbuff me whenever she's available, but I hate to bother her. Why shouuld she stop her mission, wait for me, wait for the buff, and ruin her night? She's paying to enjoy this game too, you know?

Frankly, I think the new bio foods are a godsend, and I'm ready to buy a crate (or 10)as soon as I see them available.
