Thread: a fair price for the new static buffs?

as I'm currently out of buff packs (collecting ressources to make new ones), I started to see docs again for buffing.

let me start to tell you the eclipse story of buffs

when I started (november) buffs were selling for 6k/set quite fair IMO
then, they switched to an average of 8k/set, 10k for docs who were using bivoli and stuff (so that means patch 6)
then I became master doc, I used to charge 8k, refund 1k/stat under 1300 (used 870+ packs, clothing, no bivoli)
then came patch 7, I finished my 870+ packs with bivoli and hitted always around 2.4k, charged 8k/set wich seemed fair IMO
so then I had a base --- good quality buffs (2400/stat) for 8k, I always try to be fair, I'm not one of those who could charge 25k at geno lab even tho I add a few 2k if I'm not in a bog city.

I made my own packs, two sets of 910/920 packs (and that cool 986 stamina ), buffed a buddy with bivoli/clothing/110 droid to find out the values.
they turned out to be 2503/very close to 4h duration (dunno how the hell it turned out to get such a duration tho), not much more than the old 870 packs, so I decided to charge the same, 8k/set, quite fair.

then I went almost out of those new packs (still got a few I keep, just in case) and decided to see other docs for my buffs.
guess what ? they are almost all charging 8k for 2000/stat or 2200/stat (!!!) and there's a big difference between 2000 and 2500/stat wich means what ? they just may use cheap, lower end packs...

here's the dilemma:
it appears that I potentially could charge more, regarding on the buffs quality, but I just think it's unfair to charge more than 8k/set in cities 10k/set in outposts.
BUT, I don't want to interfer with the 8k/2000 people's business by proposing better buffs for the same price (even tho i think a 2k enhancement doesn't worth 8k cr)

so what should I do ? ask for 10k in cities and 12k in outposts ?

that's weird....

This is, of course, one of those situations where the answer to the original question depends on the server you play on. It seems to me that buffing is moreexpensive on FarStar than Eclipse (odd, as the resource prices I understand are lower for me) - if 1cr per point is fair on FarStar -- and I'm not saying it is! -- perhaps you just need to pick what you think is a decent price on your server. Perhaps a dicussion one's server forum could shed some light on current practices andgarner some opinions. It might turn out that 0.8 cr per point is reasonable in terms of your specific server economy. On other servers, perhaps 1.5 cr per point wouldn'tbe asking too much.

First off on the set price here is my two cents:

Even back when the buffs were totally random....because the bad was alot less regular then the good.....I usted to buff for tips....when you do it for tips do it for an hour at least.....people ask how much simply tell them...let me buff you and you tip me what you feel is fair. I would average making 12k per set of buffs. I think that with the new system it would be just as profitable thought i dont depend on my own buffs for income anymore I have yet to test this.

As for bovoli - I carry it and use it for my and my guild. When people do ask for a buff and I tell them ill do it for tips....now i just offer - "Ill buff you for what you feel is fair for a tip - I can add an additional 300ish to your buff using a food but the food coast me X per set and ill be happy to use it if you are willing to reimburse me for that food as well."

I have yet run into a person who didnt find it reasonable to pay for the additional 300ish points across the board for my buffs. For reference i am a big time farmer so when i do make kits I make runs of 100-22use packs with identical stats usually in the 800-900 range and those typically last me two months or so.

Heck I sell buffs only when there are long lines. I then start charging 12k per set. (2200 enhance is all I do and I say that up front) So those in a hurry will pay be 12k to get through while everyone else will wait in line for the 8k price. I am not selling a superior product but am charging for the speed at which I do it. Now if I am the only guy around and I am buffing I charge 10k untill somone else comes in and undercuts me (I think this is a good thing) and then I raise my prices back up to 12k (after those in line have gotten through) and make a quicker profit.

So go ahead and charge whatever you want to I will be charging 10-12k for my buffs. 20k if I am not in the mood to buff. I get told constantly that my prices are too high, this is obviously not the case if the person complaining is the one paying as well. There is no such thing as charging too much. If it is realy too much they are free to find someone else who is charging less. Buffs are not a necesity and therefore can only be considered a luxury for those wishing to do things that they normaly would not be able to do. (I personaly didn't know about buffs untill after I reached TKM (as a wookiee)) I know they are not needed to master elite combat professions so no one should use that line on you.

Those are my prices and I stick by them.
