I have to say I like the idea of better buff replacing worse buffIt will solve the problem of the ninja buffers out there, and will give an option to those annoying people that are never happy with a buff even when 5 of 6 stats are 3k plus.
Second issue I reserve judgement on until I hear some facts and/or feedback from people on TC. Luckily for me, this month Gorath will be on TC2 so I will be able to give Doctor and CM a good workthroughI see just the oppostie with this. Ninja buffing will explode!!! You thought tumblers were bad. You will see novice doctors runnig around buffing everything in site!! Their response will be "Hey, you can get a better one if you want!". grinding MED xp will be very easy then.
There is no way to solve the medical grind issues. By making the ninja-bigger problem go away what I mean is that people won't need to ask people to /deathblow them just to get buffs. We could just go and overwrite them

Yeah but i think one of the issues yet to be mentioned is how many packs will we go through just buffing one peron?
Random Customer:"I dont like my health buff."
Doc:"K one sec"
etc, etc, etc
I can hear it now, yeah but you can rebuff. ANd what level will be high enough? I have 1k packs, does that mean I can buff for twice that or 3 times that, when will it be good enough for the customer...I dont think I will be doing any public buffing after this.
Please read the thread.
Random buffs have been taken out.

Re read my post, random buffs have been taken out, but you can rebuff people if they dont like their stats, and I doubt very seriously that RANDOM has been totaly removed. More than likely toned down, but not removed.
Okay... think what you want. *rolls eyes*
Has anyone actually confirmed that random buffs were taken out. I know it said it in the notes, but I just cant beleive theyd make such a drastic change that 1) so obviously went against the wishes of the community and 2) without talking to the correspondents first.
Has anyone verified that buffs are in fact, static on test server?
Matchstick, I understand 3k buffs for most docs are rare. But when I buff myself for 3000 to 3900 on 2 to 4 stats every time, it does mean a lot to me. This nerf affects the good doctors more than the bad ones, for we are the ones really losing out. I understand most people won't care that they now average 1500 instead of 800-2500 for example, but for those of us that have uber buffs we are being nerfed badly. That's why I'm so hot about this subject
I don't want buffs that come out at 2300 when I consistantly get 3k+ on most stats. My high buff so far is 3910, and it can go higher than that on my server once good dolovite spawns.

Actually... when the issue was put to a vote in the Doctor community, a simple majority of 52% voted to remove random buffs. So while this is a drastic change it does NOT so obviously go against the wishes of the community. It's just that many new members of our community weren't around when the vote took place a couple of months ago.
As far as testing.... I don't think TC's loaded yet... but I'm dying for people to test this out myself.

Just to reiterate, if they do put in the variability removal it does not so obvioulsy go against the wishes of the community. The voting was 52% in favor of complete removal of the variability over keeping the current level of variability we have on live. Technically that means a majority of the community is not only NOT against such a change, but actually FOR it given only those two options (which we have been told were pretty much the only options availalbe since variability reduction would simply take far too long to get implemented.)

Cronan, devs have said they are too lazy to simply reduce the randomness. The options they gave docs was remove random or keep it the way it is.

But don't you see... the more uber you were buffing in the past... the more uber you'll be buffing in the future. It was purely random. I guarantee if you actually tallied your buffs, you'd see that you didn't hit for over 3K as often as you thought you did... you just happen to remember them more.
I've logged 300 straight buffs with identical conditions before... that thread's around here somewhere... I was actually about to do 3000 buffs this weekend till this bombshell got dropped.
The best buffers before the publish will still be the best buffers after. In fact... it'll be a LOT more obvious who the best buffers are now. We are not being nerfed badly... because for every time you hit above 3K... you were also hitting below 1500.... that's how the random element was working. I've done the testing... I have no doubt on this.
Just hold your fears and anger for now at least till you see what the actual results of this change will be. ![]()
With my 941 power packs im buffing for 1600 to 3900 with Master doc, BE close and food.
Losing my 4k buffs would suck but i can live with like 2750 to all 6 stats. Has anyone in Test center let us knnow how there working now?
Of course I'll reserve final judgement until actual testing of the changes, but I am personally optimistic.
But now my customers will be pissed because they can no longer get good buffs (if this goes live). Perhaps the devs should ask on a general board, because the few docs on the doctor board shouldn't have a say over it. Everyone should have a say, because they receive buffs from docs and should have a say as to whether or not buffs get massively nerfed
