Thread: Hiding Master Doc title
In the 3 months i've been a master doc, i've had my title up for a total of 2 days. And turning it on and making char searchable is like clocking into work and saying yes i'm here to buff people... send me tells now. I have standard macros for /reply i'm out of buffs and /reply it's 10k a set, tip when i start to buff you. Strangely on Gorath there have been a LOT of new docs appearing. And yet the tide of people wanting buffs never seems to end. All I can say to any new docs out there is that if you wanna show your title, be ready to get lots of tells and have your packs ready.

Its sad that having the master doc title on seems to be an invitation for abuse. Sometimes it really bothers me to be taken for granted and to have so many rude demands placed on me.
But on the other hand, its pretty cool being in a group thatshunting and your the only doc. As soon as you get in trouble the rest of the group rushes to your aid to save the doc. That can go to a guys head sometimes
This fits into my motto: "Protect the Doctor at ALL costs." You can be rezed, I can't. I was actually in a group of about 7 people and there was another Master Doctor. Buffs and rezes flowed freely and much destruction was caused. That was when I was playing with being a CM too. But now, I get a /tells while being unsearchable, with a Trickshot title on, and I'm in the middle of nowhere. Some people finally started getting the idea that I'm not a buff-o-matic when I would place an entire guild on my No Heal list for a week because of the contuct of one person.

My do-not-heal-list contains the guild, as well as other details on the ban. I love giving a pissed off player the name of their guildiethat lost him their rez/buff/life.
Once I got a tell from the banned player all pissed off that he lost his place in loot order "because of me". I was so happy to explain to him that
a) the name is 'DOCTOR Mal', or 'Sir', not 'dude'
b) If he was to behave like an adult, his daddy (guild leader) wouldn't have had to punish him.
Of course, (im a rebel) I have buffed almost every imperial that I fight against at some point in time, even rezed some of em (not in pvp mind you). So they know I'm a doc, but thats beside the point, its just fun to be hanging out with the other docs commenting on their fake titles. Something like "Heh, novice artisan eh?" and there are some giggles back and forth as they comment on my novice scout title.
The best way to deal with ignorant customers, is to tell them you will not buff them unless they do things your way.
I think most docs are starting to use lines (actual lines, when i started doc, people would just stand in a circle around the doc, had to use paper to keep track of who was up next and who paid), and I really like the line thing. I was one of the first docs on radiant to start using them and there was this whole ordeal with some docs saying things like "dont stand in a line! get in circles around me!" lol. I have recieved a LOT of compliments about how a line is must nicer. A few reasons:
1) I know who is in my line.
2) Have the customers NOT pay untill it is their turn, make it known that if they pay up front, you may forget they paid or missed it in the spam (coronet is bad...)
3) Everyone knows where they are in line. No more (how many people in front of me /tells)
4) if there is more than one line, people can see which is shorter and jump in.
there are other benifits to a line but dont feel like gooin into them atm

I was still getting tells and requests to enter my line. After a while, I had to start turning people away, just so I could sign off and go to bed!
Thats exactly right! "...clocking in to work..." Yes its sometimes a pain the tell-hell and such but hey...you're a DOC! You think RL Docs go into work complaining about all the whining thats gonna come from patients? There wouldn't be any RL Docs if that were the case. Or very few to say the least. Its up to you to develop and to control the ignorant pulsating masses that desire your services and you do so at your pace. I keep a notepad in front of me when I do put up my Doc title and as they come in their name gets placed in that order. Not in the order their 'tell' came in but in the order they come into *My Office*. Be that camp, front of starport, in a home or, med center. Its "you're after so-and-so; be with you in a moment". Jot their name down in the appropriate order. My AFK is up and says "Now giving buffs at Med Center 8k for complete set"...thus no responses necessary.
When done..AFK changes to "Our apologies but the good Doctor is not giving buffs at the moment" Then, Oh please let the occasional "I'll pay you 20k for a set" impatient ones come through.
I'm a buffin' fool.
The forums and my character profile are the only places it says I'm a master doctor. One time, I sat outside of Coro starport, got swamped, got pissed, will never do it again. Some guy logged for a bit and lost his buffs, started sending tells about how I ripped him off with only hour long buffs.Another person sat there and swore up and down he bank tipped me, putting up a fit while I found no proof in system messages or my emails. Pain in the ass is all it is, I actually try to go hide when buffing myself or guildies.
Actually I've never put a title up at all on Eld, since last title I worked with was all bugged, and kept comin up if I relogged even after switching back to no title.
