Collecting info on all the different ways this can happen. Logouts timers etc. This is now a(some) known bug(s), Currently no ETA on a fix.

NOTE: The devs never said we would be able to debuff in this patch, or any other time in the future. This is not a bug.

I guess this is the confusing part:

OFFICAL PATCH NOTES:

http://patch.starwarsgalaxies.com:7040/patch/web/swg/motd/patch_message.html

# New Visual Buff system:
A new 'buff' system has been put in place to give players an easy-to-use graphic interface to make game play buffing and de-buffing easier to understand.

de-buffing reads like we are supposed to be able to remove buffs.

/edit

and this:

http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/recent_test_updates.jsp?page=In%20Testing

New Visual Buff system: A new 'buff' system has been put in place to give players a powerful and flexible method for applying and 'debuffing' attribute and skill modifiers with an easy to use graphic interface.

See the part "buffing and de-buffing easier to understand" part... understand.. not use, not make, not deploy.. understand. Believe me I'm on TH about the wording of the patch notes all the time.

That line at no time promises ability.

The wording is, again, very bad on the notes. It implies being able to 'de-buff'. Very confusing...

Back on topic...

Self buff with pre-publish packs.

Time expires, and try to re-buff. Get the 'you already have...' message. Three hours go by and still same message. 30m log out does not fix. PM CSR in chat, problem has been reported and there is nothing they can do at this time. Out of frustration, log for over an hour, and now able to buff again. Fear this problem will be repeating itself until a hotfix applied. In the meantime only solution is to log for an extended period of time and hope for the best.

Quite frustrating for a hunting group having to all log out mid-hunt to get re-buffed...

/sigh

Has anyone test if death/cloning resets the buff timer post publish?

Ok so they want us to understand Debuffing do they.... um they want us to understand something that doesnt exist??? what would be the point in that...

Well you seem to be the only person in the whole community that diddnt read it as we did, i've never seen such terrible wording in my life, personally i diddnt care if we ever got debuffs, it was nevere something i had thought about wanting, except for the fact that it seemed like we were getting them.

Its like waving a pie in front of a starving man's face only to pull it away when they reach out to grab it, thats what i'm angry about. Many people built up hopes of trying this out and were all really happy that a cool new thing that just about every doc would want was going to be implimented, finally we were being thrown that bone then the dog came and burried it.

So fine no debuffs, I think we at least deserve an appolegy for their horrificly baduse of english in this matter.

There has been force NPC debuffing for a very long time.

Devs know about a whole lot of bugs, no announcement of hotfixes or priorities yet. This is one of the more serious bugs I ahve seen listed, so I'd expect it'd get bumped pretty high.

More info, as it becomes available.

T,

I don't really think NPC Debuffing is really the right word for it. If your talking about the Nightsisters and other FS NPCs, I would say its more of a Life Drian. I have never been Debuffed *where my buffs stop fuctioning before they should* ever. I have However been drained of life by Nightsisters. But this comes back after XX amount of time. But I've never been totally Debuffed by an NPC before. Is this what your talking about?

Yes, that is what many people refer to as a "debuff". Temporary lowering of a stat or skill by a mob. It's a general term used in MMOG's.

Nope, talking about something else. Not regular nightsister level stuff.. Dungeon boss level stuff.

It is possible I'm wrong and no NPC in game (yet) can do this type of thing. I do rememweber reading about it... I just can't rememeber offhand where.

To a programmer, "debuff" could merely be referencing to the function of removing buffs by timer (it is the opposite of buff), logout etc. by the game itself.

The devs have peperwork detailing the plan for 6+ months in advance. A lot of their documents reference things that are not announced as "givens" because they are planned. So it creeps into the patchnotes a lot. Internal references are also not always the same as we see them. Dev documents seem to operate a lot on base professions, so a lot of Doc stuff gets marked "medic" in patch notes up until TH's taking over of the notes. The yare much better now, but some stuff does sneak in.

If such a major system as debuffing was going in, Zarlor or I would have told you, and tried to get people on TC to test it. Player debuffing would have required schematics, /skills etc. It isn't a minor thing they could slip in at the end for a patch note.

I apologize to everyone if I'm grumpy and harsh.. But when everyone comes in here and rants and raves about somthing that we were never told we were getting has been taken away, it strikes a nerve. We honestly have enough buff problems with the low buffing problems and this new extention of the rebuffign bug without making up problems.

Well using the debuff terminology they were asking for it. Could have put that much better.

Im really annoyed.

I can see how much time I have left? Who gives a flying F*ck?

Fix the **edit** bug devs.
