Thread: Stimpack A+ Details

Tonight, I went ahead and picked up the Stimpack A+ schematic. This schematic is acquired only through a quest. The quest is given by Melios Purl, who can be found in the Bestine medical center. It is a three leg quest and the most difficult thing you must do is kill a mutant womp rat which really isn't much of a challenge.

Anyway, here are the stats on the Small Stimpack - A+:

Base Power: 95, Max Power: 150

Base Charges: 14, Max Charges: 24

This schematic requires 8 units of organic material and 8 units of inorganic material. At 140+ healing power for 16 units of resources, this is actually a useful schematic for people that can't afford more costly Stim B's.

Of course, when you acquire the schematic, you get only 5 uses of the schematic. But, with 1000 uses per manufacturing schematic, you could make up to 5000 of them.

Couldn't do the quest today, too many other things to do. For some reason my vendors were ransacked today.

I think it's an interesting schematic, planning on making a (small) run to sell at a low price. Maybe 100 credits each or something. I'm not sure there's going to be any demand for these on my vendors, I figure it's more of a bazaar item but who knows!

Five uses seems kinda low though if the intent is to help out newbie medics a little.

I'm assuming this quest isn't redoable then for more uses?

I guess it would make some sense since it really is good for just 16 resources, but still...maybe they could do a time-delay of two weeks or so (probably would be too much trouble to code though, heh)

Yes, the med use is still 5. It's just a souped up version of a Stim A. Nothing more and nothing less.

It isn't clear if 1000 unit runs are the intention on these.

The same is true of the dropped schematics for even bigger stuff (rifles etc.) with 5 uses. I'm pretty sure 5000 enhanced rifles is not intended.

This may be changed by a general fix to the dropped schematic system.

"This schematic requires 8 units of organic material and 8 units of inorganic material. At 140+ healing power for 16 units of resources, this is actually a useful schematic for people that can't afford more costly Stim B's."

At this point in the game, I really can't see anyone buying or even using these if they are GIVEN to them free.

At the start of the game when there weren't a lot of med makers and many people used Stim A's because they didn't know they could use B's, then yes a souped up stim A might have sold well.

But with novice medics being able to use 400+ Stim B's at not a huge cost (any anyone over 2 weeks old has enough credits to buy stim B's), I can't see a Stim A being able to be given away frankly.

Now, I've not seen one, but if it healed MIND, then yah these would be hot property even with a low heal value. Do they heal mind as well as health and action?

They do not heal mind. They are just a souped up version of a Stim B. Regardless, I think there is still a market for such things. Admittedly, I don't think it's a large market, but these stims could be sold for under 100 credits each and you'd still make a decent profit on the deal.

At 3cpu you'd only make 240,000 profit if you sold them at 100 credits each. Not much worth it if you asked me.

You know, it's entirely up to you if you want to make and sell these things or not. I was just providing the details about the schematic.

However, in the real world, there is such a thing as a "leader product." Such a product is something that is normally made and sold at a loss to the company. Why do they do this? Well, they offer a deal that is "too good to be true" to the customer to get them to buy something, even if the company doesn't make anything on it. Then, you get them to come back and buy other things and that's where you make your money.

What if you sold these for 50 creditsa piece and bought your resoruces at 3 cpu? You'd make nothing on the deal, but don't you think you'd get some folks in your shop if you advertised that you were selling these for 50 credits a piece? Perhaps a handful of those people would see the other quality items you make...

Thanks for sharing the info I wasn't trying to shoot the messenger really.

I just know on my server, I can't think of anyone that would buy that heal power of a stim when they can easily get a 400+ Stim B.

IF, and I repeat IF, a Stim B required more than novice medic to use, then yes those Stim A's would sell but since that's not the case why would anyone purposely buy a stim that 300 power less than what they CAN use.

A 40 use stim B with 400+ heal can be bought for 1000 credits. As I said I don't know anyone older than 2 weeks old that can't afford that and will afford that for the healing power to stay alive.

There have been various movements to bump the Stim B up a few pharm boxes too... so who knows.
