Thread: Combat profession that goes best with Doc?
Tka is very nice but in overall hunting but you'll be limited to only one damage type: kinetic. If you're going to do lots of group hunting then it'll depend if melee or ranged is better. Healing range is amazing 6m so you need to be close to whomever you're going heal. So ranged would be better than melee but melee is a lot more fun
What ever makes you happy I'd say

Hey now.. be nice
/duel legende
be nice to me ok?? ![]()
Pikeman is the best kept secret in the game ![]()
I'm currently a master TKA but will probably drop it to go Master Pikeman when I'm done with Doc. TKA is good for single opponents and PvP but for advanced PvE Pikeman is great because they specialize in AOE attacks.
If you're a ranged profession you can continue attacking your target while running around performing (some) heals on your teammates. If you're melee you can either fight or heal but not both (unless your target and your fighting partner are both within 5m of you).
If you're buffing yourself you can afford crazy special costs and tank massive damage. Focus on maximizing one of these - for me, I'm thinking tank = lots of mobs around me = every area attack I do I can dish out thousands (even tens of thousands if I'm a swordsman) damage per attack. So professions that have good close range area attacks are particularly Doc friendly. Pistols (*if* point blank area 2 gets fixed), swords, pikes do good 360 degree point blank area damage. Carbines have famously high specials costs. Note: "upcoming" (read: as in duke nukem forever is an 'upcoming' title) combat pass includes a change to the HAM special regeneration that might make us less amazing special spammers, I'm leaning towards maxing my tank strengths).
States can be our enemy (keep us from performing our Doc duties) so some state defenses or high general defenses may be a really handy thing (again, pistols, also fencer (which does have an AOE attack as well...), TK, Rifleman.
Conclusion - Some kind of pistol/fencer pistol/smuggler or pistol/swords dable, swordman, fencer, carbineer, pikeman would all go well w/ doc in addition to the traditional combos , Doc/TKM (still very strong, who needs area attacks when you can dish 2k+ per second to a single target!) & DOC/Rifleman (Just cause rifles are so insanely strong at master lvl, watch that mind though...).
Me? I'm leaning towards doc-enough-to-buff with a pistol/df dabble (pistol x4x4 df4), leaving 40 pts for a little tk, perhaps more pistols. TK xx44 would be pretty g-d dmn funny to mix with underhanded shot, pistol whip and panic shot - unless TK dam gets migrated heavily to TKM this would be a pretty sweet PvP template. Also, if defense stacking stays in and carbines get some love there are some very nice swords/carbines stacks (carbines x4x4 swords x444 leaves a few sp left over, i think you can do carbines x444 and swords x444 ...) no way I'm going back to carbines (fool me once shame on you...) until I see what the next publish gives them.
just imho - Anavar de Bria

Same with my wife's char (AKA my alt). Her next Holo is Rifleman, but I am not sure I'm gonan do that. I do not think MD/Master Rifle is a good combo. This is because both skills use the same bar for "specials" the mind. Heavy Swords use mostly health (with a Powerhammer anyway) And that works great with Doc.
