Because right now the profession has too many problems and little benefit to mastering it:
1) Buffs average window is too big, regardless of being random.
- I can buff 2000+ with 0440 Doctor, +25 Wound Treatment and a 110 Med Droid using 700 base packs
- I can also buff 900 Health and Action on a Jedi as a Master Doctor with all of the above and 850 base packs
2) Few benefits to being a Master Doctor
- Still have 10 experimentation points and +25 Wound Treatment from BE clothing
- I use top of the line StimEs and wound packs I can still use with knowledge 4
3) Buff Timer is still bugged, and Buff Duration Window is inconsistent
- We can't debuff, and still need to db/revive people - and the "new" window still shows old buffs!
4) Whiners
- 10K FOR BUFFS?!?!?!?
- Unfortunately it takes, "OMG DEVS THERE ARE NO DOCS TO BUFF ME" and correspondant persistancebefore anything is fixed in this game
5) MEAT
- I went hunting on rori for avian for the first time since I used to bea Master Scout. Never doing it again - it's not worth my time. Vir vurs are near impossible to find- we need larger avian meat animals to kill on every planet, because some of us can solo a krayt juvi!
I've been a Master Doctor for 4 months and will probably drop some of it before the end of the month unless the above is fixed in the next publish. But the above have been issues affecting our profession for months and all we get is a buff window which doesn't even help us when buffing. So unless someone can give me a reason to stay Master Doctor, 2202 Rifleman and 4004 CM I'm going to persue other PvP/Doc combos.
Cheers

Master Doctor = +25 Wound Treatment and a tag/badge that get you swamped with tells for buffs every time you enter Coronet or other high traveled areas.
And... that's about it.

It is irrellivant what we can solo, all the avian dropping critters are killable with just 4 in a novice combat profession.
They are just all so teenie tiny. It takes a lot of kills to get a modest amount of meat. Rori is bad, as is tatooine. At the very most a "large" avian drops 20-25 piece of meat. Contrast with the resource haul that can be obtained in other categories of meat and animal resources.
To do a factory run in buff packs, you are talking 9000 avian meat, thats if you use avian in your action packs too. You could spend a week looking for vir vurs on rori, killing them all and harvesting them, and still not come up with that amount.
This contributes to the absolutely insane prices that prevail for quality avian meat.

I've done 3 buffpack runs and sold them for 5-15k/pack. So I know this profession well enough to agree with all the replies here. I have my hospital decorated professionally and won't lose it when I drop MD. So unless the +25 at Master Doctor in the future will help make buffs more consistent it's not worth the skill dump.
I was thinking of trying Master Doctor/Swordsmen next month though, need a break from MD/Rifleman/CM
Just wish they'd fix problems they promised us months ago when I started. Crafting isn't worth the meat needed unless you run a full time vendor with lots of regular customers or a guild who help you out with the meat.
Now for those who have guilds, do you hook them up with free stims? I'm being told I should and thats another reason why I'm considering dropping crafting and getting some tka alongside doc/swordsmen.

the gain in wound healing that master doctor give you is 12.5% higher enhances on avg
master wound treatment with med cloth= 100 skill = multiplier of 2.0
master doctor with med cloth = 125 skill = multiplier of 2.25
2.25/2 = 1.125
another thing it let you craft enhance substat Ds
also use any enhance D pack

I dunno but curing poisons and disease and reviving seem prety usefull to me. Not to mention curing states like dizzy and blind. I use every skill in the doctor tree quite a bit. Yeh i would like sompthing extra for master though...Maby a cure poison/disease for all within 15m of me hehe. Or a stim to heal mind even if we couldent use it on ourselves or just on incaped players...

One of the reasons for being in a guild is to give and get support from each other. In my guild we all give each other free items. Before I started my doctor I got free stims all the time. I also gave the crafters freemeat / hides/bonesthat I harvested.
To me this is what a guild is all about. You help each other by contributing what you can.

Many guilds pay a nominal "cost-fee" on gear. It isn't free to make. If you are the only doc in a 150 person PA, supplying everyone free stims is a loser deal.
Many PAs at least pay the factory costs (and even factory lots), even if all the materials are free to the doctor.

While all of the above is true... I would also be of the opinion that you help the people who help you. Often those"guild" people that are looking for a free handout and have not provided meat or anything else. I would suggest that you return favor for favor. This will depend on what each member gives to you and you might want to keep a list.
As a Master Doc I have exchanged buffs for meat (even grind quality only meats) and heals without any credit recompense. But this is not forever, and we converse on how many free buffs are adequate for the quantity contributed.I have even kept lists of what I have accepted and returned for each member.
Unfortunately there have not been a whole lot of guild hunting as a whole (in my guild anyway) and with the few that have done this, the "take" is split among the members who have been doing the hunting. It's up to them to sell or give... and to make an equitable trade or agreement on what is fair.
I don't disagree with anything said above. But not all people want to tradeand if you areconsidering giving up a profession because of"expectations of freebies" than you should also point out that these "freebies" have a cost to you in terms of resources, time online, andcredits for harvestingand manufacturing thoseresources.
If you are the only one gathering those resources (and your guild is not helping), then you rightfully have the choice to not offer freebies.

I use 925 power packs to buff between 2000 - 3500. These could not be used by less than a Master doc, as they have98 med use req.
