Thread: Help! Inventory Organization

I am just having a horrid, nightmarish time managing my inventory. Please help a doctor who is pulling her hair out!

I thought at first I would geta backpack for each of the main resources we require for crafting (e.g. Herbivore, Avian, T. Fiberplast, L. Wheat, etc.) along with one forthe medical supplies we need in the field and for crafting. So I put it in my bank storage and that worked for a little while. Then it became full no matter how careful I was and how frugal with space! Then I bought a house and filled it with backpacks and it says that I have too many items in the house now! All I have are lots of backpacks and no furniture!

Please help me organize! There has to be a logical and systematic way for a doctor to organize crafting resources, buffs/enhancements/cures, etc. and a method that is not incredibly inconvenient. Help stop the madness!

Do we have any spatial geniuses in the forum that can point toward the holy grail of medical supply happy land?

Thank you !

I am having the same problem...I managed to stave it off for awhile, but since I am both a master artisan and a master doctor, I have all types of resources, items, and crates lying around. I too used the idea of seperating everything into packs, but over time I filled up my bank and two small houses with all my supplies.

Currently my solution is to keep crates in my factories output hoppers until I need them...the input hoppers can also store 100 items.

Another way to store items in ones house is to put them all on the vendors for either an exorbitant price no one would ever pay (haha, but if someone did buy it for that price...it certainly wouldn't be a loss to you)or for a short time (like 1 minute). This allows you to increase storage, but it would also end up spamming your mailbox with "Auction Unsuccessful" messages. (Also, if I recall correctly there were murmorings that this vendor storage was an exploit, but I don't know if anything ever came of it, so consider this should you decide to go with the vendors. I don't bother risking it, but I suppose it could become useful in a pinch.)

A third way to store a few extra items is to get a droid with storage capabilities. Warning about this though, there was a bug that caused my droid to lose everything I gave him when I logged for the night. I don't know if this has been fixed yet, but I don't recommend the droid for long-term storage, just so he can hold onto some things really quick while you change packs or whatever...my droid has been very helpful in that way.

I hope these ideas help you some, and if anyone else has better ways of storing items, PLEASE let us know! I am tired of running from house to house and factory to factory, it makes it so that every time I need to craft meds, I spend 15-20 minutes changing out supplies and then when I go back to actually healing/buffing, I spend another 15-20 minutes getting that stuff back together and my resources deposited where they should be.

Well, I'm a doc/combat medic, so I suppose that makes me a bit of an authority on inventory management.

Maybe not, but here's my 2c anyway.

For your personal inventory, crates of everything is the way to go... If you really must craft while out and about, at least carry crates of subcomponents (if you don't make subs in crates... well... you should). That way you can limit yourself to carrying 2 resources, rather than an array of them. (with 4 crates of subs, an organic, and an inorganic, you can make everything that you should ever need to make out in the field. woundpacks and rez kits, mostly. maybe a stim or two.)

I carry stim Cs, Es, and area Cs. Poison cures, disease cures, state packs (4 types), rez kits, wound packs, and 6 different types of combat med poisons or diseases. Oh, and fire blankets too. Crates of everything except wound packs and state packs -- although I do carry a crate of health wound packs and a crate of dizzy state packs (I pvp, these get used up fast...). A full suit of armor, assorted clothing, weaponry, powerups, droid batteries, spice, and 6 or 7 types of food (in crates, except what is in use, as with meds). Also a couple of crates of meds to drop on the bazaar when I happen to be near one. I usually have between 10 and 15 slots free in my inventory, which is more than enough to pick up whatever resources and subcomponents I wish to use when crafting.

As for storage, factories are definitely the way to go. Leave your subcomponents and finished meds in the output hoppers until you need them, and use the input hoppers for item storage. Factories only take 1 lot, and can hold 100 items (which don't have to be meds or resources -- I've been keeping armor in factories since my 2 houses filled up...) in the input hopper in addition to whatever you keep in the output hopper.

To cut down on time spent running between factories, pick one to use as main resource storage. Keep at least one stack of everything there... Until it gets full, then maybe move your subcomponent resources to another factory... Heh.

Of course, the most important organizational move you can make is to name your subcomponents something meaningful. I use pertinent stats and serial number myself (e.g. ASDS-75 (abcdefghi)), although your mileage may vary.

Hope that helps.

Exactly.. sounds like my on-person inventory with about 12 slots left over..

I keep all subcomponents in factories.. I have two houses, and four factories.. And I have to use an alt to place harvestors because of it.

Inside my house I keep one crate of each subcomponent currenly in my factory to make the schematics, then I just pluck how many crates I need from the factory when I am putting it all together.. Standard backpack for Organics, Inorganics, CM resources, etc.

You can also carry up to 5 droids so buy some mouse droids with storage modules. You'll be able to carry 10 items in each.

Droids, factories and crates are your friend here I own 5 storage droids, that are also food/chem crafting stations and 110 med.

Droid 1: loose woundpaks (they arent used much), crate of health wound, crate action wound, crate poison-c, crate disease-c

Droid 2: crates of enhances, crate rezkit, crate dizzy heal, crate intimidate heal, crate fireblanket

Droid 3: Stim-D's, Bivoli, Droid batteries and Brandy (crate each), Doc's clothes (lekku wrap, bustier, skirt, shoes)

Droid 4: Armour (6 pieces), 2 spare VK's, crate of pups

Droid 5: Junk that I havent stuck in the bank yet

My bank is just a collection of stuff that Im either a) going to sell but ran out of room on the baazar or b) stuff I dont want to disappear from my house and my harvestor deeds (with power). Its about half full (Im not much of a packrat).

I have a small tat house that I use asa workshop that hasnt hit the 150 limit yet. I keep a good supply of my resources separated in backpacks (ie Organics, Inorganics) and my advanced components (in a backpack) I keep 2-3 each of what I ran in the factory for when Im crafting new schematics and I just move those components from the hopper to the ingredient hopper. My other houses arent used for anything doctor related.

In my personal inventoryI keep 6 enhance packs, 1 eachstimpak d, fireblanket, dizzy, blind, intimidate, stun heal and rez kit for healing purposes. The rest is just my cluttered collected crap. For wound treatment I /tendwound or I call droid and pull a loose wound pack (if its over 100). Its not a hassle to me to call the droid and pull from a crate. If Im preparing to hunt with a large group or do a bit of pvp, I prepare ahead of time and insure I have what I think is enough. Since the restrictions as to where you can call a droid as been removed, it takes 15 secs (outside a camp or city).

Hope this helps.

There's a shortcut to getting items from a droids storage. If youput the item on a hotbar, when you hit the hotbar key it will shift the item from your droid to your inventory. Then you hit the key again to use it. This is great if your in a cave where you can't call a droid. You'll still need to call the droid to move any items back to it's storage though.

Thank you for the wonderful responses!

How do you all organize your resources? I thought about putting one backpack with harvested advanced components (Lokian Wheat, Tatooinian Fiberplast, Class 4 Liquid Petro Fuel, Dantooine Berry Fruit, Talusian Water Vapor, Dolovite Iron, and Domesticated Oats). Then another for Herbivore/Avian Meats, a third for other named components, and a fourth for General harvested items.

That does not quite seem like the best method for organizing them! Any suggestions?

I really want to have everything in good order and easy to find and access but nothing is really working. Clumping lots of resources in one backpack is not the greatest solution

Thank you

For awhile I tried keeping all my resources seperated in that type of a fashion, but I found that it works better to divide them up in more general ways.Right now Idivide them into Organic, Chemical, Ferrous, Non-Ferrous, Med Components, andArtisan Components. Right now, Chemical includes chemicals, gasses, and water. I am considering dividing up the Organic area into harvested organics (hides, meats, bones, horns)and extracted organics (berries, wheats, oats, etc.)

I have:

8 factories

2 large houses

3 small houses (150 items each)

2 r3s (10 items each)

2 mouse droids (10 items each)

Plus my backpack/inventory.

I use an alt for all my harvestors as well (20 heavies).

Inventory with a doc isa pain, and now I'm grinding Chef with my alt /sigh.

For a long time I kept all my resources on me but as I realized my products were coming out significantly less with failures and whatnot and wasting alot of quality avian meat, etc. in the process I decided to crate up everything.

In my backpack I have the following crates :

Chef Stuff:

BE Vessarian Brandy

Regular Brandy for low lvl mobs ( I like spamming specials )

BE Vegash

BE Travel Biscuits (My terrain Neg sucks and have a BE/Artisan alt hehehe)

BE Synthsteak

BE Thaktillo

Doc Stuff: (these are being done from memory as i'm at work so ....)

500ish power Fire blankets

Cure Poison C's

Cure Disease C's

Enhance Action/Health/Con/Quick/Stamina/Strength D's

Stim E's (even with these ....... if my health goes down all the way I don't heal completely 100% alot of the time)

Health Wound E's (charges of course)

Action Wound E's (charges again)

Blind/Dizzy/Stun/Intimidate A's

Extra Stuff:

Vehicle custom kit

speed sliced backup stun baton and Gad Baton

Crate of camps

extra clothes

bunch of stuff i can't remember ....

weapon repair kit

melee powerups

Main inventory:

one of each of the doc and chef crates

main gad baton, stun baton

con/stamina/strength/quickness wound E's (may be a waste but I experiment charges and one of each lasts me close to a month so it'seasier than having to worry about crates of B's... though now that i'm not tk anymore i'll prolly have to use more ...)

Set of comp armor

3-4 individual powerups at a time

bunch of stuff i don't remember

Droid 1:

Powerups

Droid 2:

stuff that needs to be sliced

Droid 3:

Eff comp armor

Droid 4:

Enc comp armor

(one of the 2 is always in my inventory but i keep the two in order to keep them separate....enc comp is my pve and eff is for pvp)

Droid 5:

Janta blood enhance packs...

I'm sure I forgot stuff but this post has gotten out of control and way too long .... all the crates may be a bit obsessive, but it's soooooooooooooooo nice not having to craft anymore aside from stuff for the shop

now, i don't have to worry about me anymore ....
