Should we charge extra for folks who request buffs when we are not obviously advertising / giving buffs? I shouldn't have to take my Master Doc tag off just to get people to quit annoying me, and if they want me to do something extra for them, they should be charged, right?

At the bottom of the screen where you shoose your title and such, there is a little box you can un-check that will make you searchable/unsearchable. That will greatly limit the number of /tells you get for buffs, since they wont be able to tell your a master doc with out physically seeing the title under your name.

Meh.. well... I don't charge extra. If I'm in the middle of something,I simply say "not buffing right now". If I will buff them and have the time to wait, that's what I do. But,I make them come to me instead of me traveling forever to get to them
If they refuse, then I say something along the lines of:
"If the buff isn't important enoughfor you to come to me,do you really thinkthat it will matterso muchto methat I'llquit what I'm doing,go to you, buff you and get a little 6k, then have togoall the way back to what I was doing? That's what I thought. Now come to me or go find a different doctor
"
Maybe not so harsh, but that's the jist of it.

unless they are offering a huge tip i just dont go simple as that and then 95% of the time i dont bother, if they want to come find me then i will send them my coords and tell them a price then its their choice, but i was playing earlier today and got 2 msg's for buffs to say i was shocked is an understatment as i had replced my master doc tital with mater tka so i would not get disturbed while hunting with my guild mates, i just replyed with a 'sorry im on a hunt i dont have time'
at the end of the day its all down to what your doing at the time, how much they will pay and how much you need the cash

Maybe if they bank tipped me in advance for my troubles, well actually not even that... why? because more times than not the person asking for a buff (or any form of treatment for that matter) was 1) of the opposite faction or when I was neutral TEF'd or overt - after I specifically told them I couldn't treat them if they were TEF'd or overt OR 2)... now get this.. they don't show up and leave me waiting there, then when I tell them back with "Hi.. been waiting 10 mins" I get the answer "Sorry I forgot" or no answer at all.
So no I don't move at all for anyone unless it is for an associate/friend/ally etc, it not worth the aggrevation.

Make your self unsearchable. In your case though I would tell them to come to you. I never run off to buff people that tell me. Even my own friends or guildmates. Sorry but if I am on another planet then I am doing something.

Agreed. Just type out /ano and you'll become anonymous and unsearchable!

Death is said to have a 5 minute timer.....so if people aren't within 5000m they are SOL......and if I do travel, I charge 5cpm and they tip me before I drop what I'm doing or again...they are SOL.

If you get tells asking for buffs but you arent interested, make it not worth their while to ask you.
I have a macro:
/r I am not available to buff right now, but if you pay me 50k i will consider it. Don't complain about me charging 50k for a buff or how expensive that is. If you want it bad enough, make me want to buff you by paying me an insane amount.
Put it on your toolbar whenever your in a city
