Customer: "YYYYYYYEEEEEESSSSSSSS! Do it AGAIN! Do it HARD!"

*TH kicks the customer again in the groin*

Customer: "YYYYYYYEEEEEESSSSSSSS!"

TH,

I looked at the original schedule of things and Pub 11 was supposedto come out back in March. You guys need to take some Project Management courses to learn how to more effectively utilize your time and keep projects on schedule.

This is the biggest problem right here! Fixes and publishes area big part of whatkeeps people playing the game. If meaningful fixes and publishes, spaned across all professions, don't start comming out more frequently, subscribers are going to start leaving in mass. Smugglers, Squad Leaders, and many others have been waiting far too long!! Empty promises and delayed fixes will sink this game fast! I hate to say that too, because I love this game. The potential is there. Use that potential!!

LOL...how true.

Maybe if I finish the quests they have no doubt not even designed yet I could enjoy that luxury too. Everyone cancelling, the few newbs out in space, player cities deserted (cuz that happened to game cities when player cities began), no need to worry about getting on the terminals unless I am fighting NPC's...no visibility. Hey guys this may be the combat balance afterall. Think about it, twitch based spaceflight where everything is skills not templates...and no combat on the ground to try to rebalance cuz no one plays there anymore or are so far between they never meet up for combat with each other.

They get to release a new version of Xwing vs TieFighter

-and-

solve the rebalance by forcing out combat that relies on balancing profession templates

Maybe we aren't giving them enough credit...they're just being efficient

That is where personal responsibility and integrity come in.

If Disney did give six guys shovels and say, "Go for it", the smart, honorable thing to do is say, "Sorry, that is impossible - and I won't intentionally mislead people and pretend that we can do this job that we know we cannot. Either give us the resources, or my integrity will force me to look elsewhere for employment."

The Devs take their checks and cash 'em, just like the suits do. So do the "community managers". I don't care if it's not TH's choice to say this stuff - the second he attaches his name to it he owns it.

They are BOTH at fault, the suits for not giving SWG what it needs, and the Devs for going along with it.

What makes Disney so great.

1. Walt Disney got a Dishonorable Discharge from the NAVY (Woohooo knows his Core Values)

2. He put his mind to great work and created Disneyland

3. He was an Idealist and Optomistic

4. He did not do drugs. (Most programmers and also executives in corporations are mostly cocaine addicts)

5. He kept his priorites straight.

7.He wanted more and cared little about money.

8.He wanted a place where people could go and look optomistic to the furure (Futureland was made)

9. He wanted a place where people could have fun. ( He made some faults and people were killed in Disneyland)

10. And, it was the people that gave him new choices to build not his executive branch. Those who visited Disneyworld told Disney where to go next. (It was thevisitors who made Disney World not a Corporation which made Disney World)

Walt Disney made Disney originally back in the 1950's as a Movie Company. And, made Disneyland and then made Disney World. Somewhere in 1981 Long after Disney died it became a Corporation. With the building of Epcot Center. Which the vast majority of Visitors wanted an expansion to Futureworld. And, then with some marvelous ideas from those Visitors he madeEpcot Center a place for the future and also a place where people learn about other countries. all teh theme parks which Disney has now is not just a place to have fun it is also a place of learning. It is totally interactive to both the visitors and the corporate executives. Even the board asks the visitors what they should do to add more to add more content. Disney listens to the paying customer.

SOE you will never be or ever be a corporation better than Walt Disney. You need to start listening to the paying customer. It was the paying Customer which expanded Walt Disney. Executives will always listen to the customer at Disney and have time to talk to the paying customer.

Last night was particularly depressing for me. After having just come out of a night of disappointing combat with at least 4 different Dark Jedi Knight roaming death squad encounters I read on the boards that the Combat Balance and GCW revamps have been pushed back. In the same message I also discover that the path to Jedi is going to be known and that it's pretty much expected that everyone is going to get Jedi if they want it cause it's a key part of the "Star Wars experience". I'm sorry, but last night was anything but a "Star Wars experience".

The appeal of this game was that it was not set in the new prequel timeline, but that it was set in the original story timeline. A much more interesting and intriguing point in the story if you ask me. It's suppose to be a time where Jedi are rare, hunted, and thanks to Imperial propaganda...hated by all cause they are the protectors of corruption in the Old Republic. The very fact that Jedi are running around declared, in plain sight, and are killing non-Jedi en mass completely obliterates any "Star Wars experience" for me and for many others. Last night a friend and guild mate of mine was so struck by the fact that Jedi are a scourge and battles with them last less time than a battle with an army of Combat Medics that all he could say over and over was "I am not Jedi content".

We veterans, people who have been playing this game since the first couple of months, are hard pressed and starved for the real "Star Wars experience" we were looking for in the first place. The Galactic Civil War! In the beginning when everyone was on equal footing the GCW was, dare I say, FUN? Starting a few months ago that equal ground was broken severely as people figured out how to stack defenses and make extremely potent poisons and disease. It's no fun if you can't survive in combat for longer than 10 seconds because you have zero defenses against an attack or because you can't hit someone due to the fact that their defenses are too good and they're allowed to maul you.

The human thirst for victory over someone else is what drives people to get the best template, profession and weapon. It is for this reason that Jedi will run rampant in the streets of Theed, in the streets of Coronet, in the streets of any declared player city. It's also compounded when you add the fact that Jedi can gain XP/FRS from regular players. Why fight another Jedi to get 6 times more FRS than a single normal when you can farm 20 normals and get even more within just 10 seconds?

By introducing a "profession" that is more powerful than all others you essentially break the game. I forecasted this as did many others long before the recent Jedi revamp and I feel justified in saying "I told you so". Of course there are those who stick up for Jedi and say they've earned the right, that they've worked hard for it, they even go on to say that the original system was too hard and it was just insane so they needed the revamp to make it easier. To those people I again say, You Are Wrong! The current Jedi haven't earned anything in my eyes. Sitting around for 8 months grinding out every profession in the game doesn't earn you anything but maybe a pat on the back.

After the next publish and the known path to Jedi allows everyone to get their Jedi it will become THE PvP profession to have. People will no longer jockey their normal professions to get the most defensive edge, they'll do everything they can to get up the Force Sensative lines and try to get into the enclaves. Why? Because as we've already seen again and again the current Jedi are obviously the most powerful character in the game. They're meant to be. The story says they are! The problem is they have no business being in this game other than as a passing reference or a rare sighting. No, I don't buy into this "alternate reality" bullcrap. I want my "Star Wars experience"!

People are being forced to go to melee professions in order to try and counteract the current Jedi problem. Either that or they're declaring less and less. The only thing is...the missing melee defenses of the Jedi are simply nothing more than a bug that will be fixed (because Jedi are so important over everything else). Then what can normals do against them? Group up? Well if you were facing a single Jedi then yes...a group would work. However, because the current system does little to make Jedi go into hiding, they are never alone and are running around with their death squads of support in the open.

It seriously puts a damper on my otherwise good mood to know that priority over a game breaking profession was taken over a potential game saving revamp of the core combat system and the truer to story Galactic Civil War. I ask you, where is the GCW right now? There's no point to it other than a capture the flag mentality of destroying bases that have no impact whatsoever on the overall war situation. There is no reason to go overt other than just SHEER BOREDOM! We're left with nothing else to do but make up our own reasons to PvP and for what? Why?

We've been promised time and time again that these core issues would be solved "in the next patch" only to be told time and time again that it's been delayed. You can only string people along for just so much time before they'll begin to resent everything you do and leave. False promises, false hopes, fancy wording like "let's make it the best MMORPG EVER" will only work so long. I'm not paying $45 dollars a month so the Developers can have a blast learning how to program a game to completion.

I want a core game that works before you start expanding on it. Yes, the addition of Jump to Lightspeed has been looked forward to for over a year, but right now it only heralds in another year of bugs and heartache. Unless the core game is fixed it will also usher in a death to ground war activities. That is if Jump to Lightspeed is even play-worthy and it better be considering you've gimped the original game by taking your live development team and split them up to give most of the attention to a new product. The only thing the veteran playerbase can glean from this is that it's just another attempt at the executive level to try and outplay other prominent games coming to market and thus gain new profits. It's insulting, it's frustrating, and it will drive people to eventually leave either with disgust or just complete apathy for a boring game.

I'm not ready to leave just yet. I know a lot of people playing the game and have personally got some of them to join in the first place. I think I'll, like many others, start giving more emphasis to the PvE aspect of it since I refuse to be Jedi content. However, you can only kill NPC's and the bestiary so many times. There's always another new game on the horizon and if you want to keep myself and many others interested the Devs are going to have to get off their rear-ends and fix the game.

SOE's task is to make money, and make it they will. It just sucks for us the more mature players who enjoy the game. From there end I'm sure they studied the financial impact of this decision. They are figuring that the tempoary drop in revenue from cancelled subscriptions will be offset by the buzz and new money teh expansion generates. How to sell game? Get little kids to think they can become a jedi and fly around in an X-Wing. Move those units! Other than that they are just hoping the core community will stick around by our friendships we've developed and our love of Star Wars. Only time will tell if they're right but I for one will be cancelling both of my subsciriptions due to this action.

Fill in the rest of the story.

Lets assume they did give 6 guys shovels and said "go for it"

and those six guys said "But sir... In the old theme park 30 rides are broken. And a few of them are deathtraps. People have season passes that they cant even use to ride the broken rides. All they can do is come here and stand around! I respectfully think we should give the people that are paying for the season pass a WORKING amusement park before starting a new one and asking them to shell out more money for something they should already have!"

And then the manager replies. "Look. Someone down the road is putting up a new park. If we dont get this one out before them then BOTH OF OUR PARKS are going down and they will have free reign! Dont worry about the customers! Just do what I said! THEY WILL PAY FOR ADMISSION TO BOTH OF OUR PARKS!"
