They've had over six months to implement exactly these kind of quick fixes that TH is proposing, things that people have been asking for in probably every single feedback thread posted since November '03. They've taken that time and our good faith and they've squandered it.
Trobon18 wrote:I'm back and I'll keep posting my different opinions (which no one wants to hear) until this thread dies. You all do realize that you have given TH less than 24 hours to report this community outbreak to his supervisors. You all jumped in and quit as soon as it was said without ever giving consideration to the change you could make. These things take time, usualy a lot of time. If you expect what has been said on this thread to make its way to the Man you need to give TH at the very least a few days. For all we know your point has gotten across, but so many of you have quit. It will be ahrd to continue the game with so few left.
A few more days isn't going to make a bit of difference. If it does, then it demonstrates that they've been sitting on their collective @$$es for six months, turning a deaf ear to our concerns and doing absolutely nothing to improve the state of in-game combat.

Start selling SWG action figures, T-shirts, and comic books to subsidize the development costs of your uncompleted game and hire more programmers to get the development team the resources and people necessary to get the development schedule back on track to fulfill your promises to your subscription base, who feels they have consistently been fed misinformation to keep them temporarily "pumped up", while you fix the errors of the past because the "suits and ties" forced a premature release of this game because they wanted an immediate return on investment (ROI), when based on the “EverQuest model”, a subscription based game returns profits on a long-term return on investment model.
- Yes that was all one sentance
-So start pumping out some SWG action figures and make sure they are "authentic" from an in-gme perspective by molding them in non-removable composite armor because it would not be believable if you could takethe action figurescomposite armoroff and make them wear something different.
- And even if you could, why would you?

When Disney wants to build a new theme park, they don't give six guys shovels and say "Go for it," they get behind it with money and talent and they get it done. SOE isn't doing this, which is why they're the bad guys here and not the Devs.
That is where personal responsibility and integrity come in.
If Disney did give six guys shovels and say, "Go for it", the smart, honorable thing to do is say, "Sorry, that is impossible - and I won't intentionally mislead people and pretend that we can do this job that we know we cannot. Either give us the resources, or my integrity will force me to look elsewhere for employment."
The Devs take their checks and cash 'em, just like the suits do. So do the "community managers". I don't care if it's not TH's choice to say this stuff - the second he attaches his name to it he owns it.
They are BOTH at fault, the suits for not giving SWG what it needs, and the Devs for going along with it.

The irony of Jedi is that while there are a few roleplayers in their ranks, they are most composed of POWER GAMERS. I know many people... most of the roleplayers are running around as riflemen, swordsmen, etc. Myself, a Master Bounty Hunter and an avid roleplayer. Those who know me know what I am capable of doing. But I also know many power gamers. And guess what?
...
Almost EVERY SINGLE POWER GAMER has a Jedi. That tell you something, doesn't it?
My guess as to why they are pushing the combat rebalance back is they don't know what they want to do yet, or don't have the plan 100% mapped out. Same as having no idea how to work Jedi so they just threw together the "master professions and use holocubes!" - you can see where that got us. Hire more people, get a 2nd team and get this combat rebalance out please.

Unless existing players are getting JTL for FREE - then the Devs that WE pay for had better focus their attentions on the hundreds of thinds inTHIS game that are broken.
What if I dont want to play a twitch based game (we did all sign up for a MMORPG after all) or if we plain old dont trust you to live up to your promises and put some content in. What we if we dont buy JTL? Why should we pay for work on the expansion when the game, at its core, is still broken?
And Devs have been lying to us. How long has "Wait for the combat balance" been an anwser to EVERYTHING? How about the fact it was first promised months ago?
As far as I am concerned the company that I pay a monthly fee to has been lying to me and mis-spending the funds that I provide.
Get your minds back on SWG - put a seperate team on JTL and maybe, just maybe, you can plug the leaks and stop hundreds more losing patience and quitting.

Well, I just cancelled my account. I love Star Wars too much to participate in this increasingly strange endeavour. Do you know that yesterday outside Coronet I saw at least five Jedi running around (or faux-Jedi, as I call them, not-Jedi Jedi) behaving like super-cool uber dudes who could out pvp us all. That is not jedi. The came encourages folks to make a travesty of the Jedi. This game betrayed the ideal of the Jedi. What did Yoda say: the dark side is the quick and easy path? Boy you guys sure took it. From Jedi being rare with perma death and the blue-glowies (all such cool ideas, jedi being rare) to advertising 14 day trials with pictures of light saber combat and an advert saying :live the adventure be a jedi!!! You should have made it KOTOR on line to start with, but you also wanted to bring in people like me who love star wars so much by having all the original trilogy characters, etc. I remember reading all your early stuff Thunderheart from your old website you vision quest stuff and all that. You seem like a really good guy, and i feel sorry for you that you have to be involved in this betrayal of all those things you wrote so eloquently about. Live an learn: I hope you end up doing something better down the road. It is beyond all belief that a game with so much potential in a universe loved by so many could have been so thoroughly messed up.
