Thread: ID#2: Two Changes to Bazaars and Vendors

SUGGESTION:
If some sort of limit must be put in place to ensure the servers don't get overwhelmed with "technical issues" then put a cap on each category. Say75 items per category... or 15 per sub-category. This wouldeliminate the "monopolies" while still giving each merchant a level playing field.
Thus a tailor could have 15 different items of clothing.
A medic could have 15 different stim packs.
A smuggler could sell 15 different factory crates
An armorsmith could sell 75 pieces of armor
A weaponsmith could sell 75 weapons, but only 15 of any one sub-type (i.e. Pistols)
A chef could sell 15 items of food.
Please consider the impact of suggestions before you make them, this would be fine for those who sell a lot of general merchants, but it would be the equivalent of a prison shower scene for crafter-merchants.
1,) Yes, the Public Vendor Cap of 3000 credits should be raised. In fact it should have been raised a long time ago. Let's face it. 3000 credits are next to nothing in the current market, and even the price for a tour-retour ticket to an other planet easily exceeds that limit. Currently the only thing the public bazaars can be used for is to buy or sell very small amounts of resources. So please up the limit.
2.) Merchant limit of 150. A big No, No to that one. Merchants have a hard life as it is, considering that all their "playing experience" is limited to placing items on the vendors and roleplaying a bit. If you introduce that limit becomeing a Merchant will be nothing but a very tedious time sink. I mean, who's idea of a fun game to play is it, to stock and restock a virtual vendor every other hour? You think i overdo that? Nope, sir. A friend of mine is a chef. He sells more food via his vendor than he can produce with 3 factories running simultanously. Even without the current capp the vendor is sold out in the span of only a couple of hours.
new credit cap on bazaar is good
new vendor limits is bad idea, considering quite a few of us sell 100+ items a day per vendor. It really makes no sense to decrease limits, specially since you raised the amount of time a item sells on vendor to 30 days!
Well, I have read through a bunch of these pages, and so far I see that most people don't mind or areallforraising the BazaarLimit to 6K. And a large majority (I would say in the 90% range) dislike or absolutely oppose the 150 Cap on Vendors. Lets see where this "DISCUSSION" leads.
Raising BazaarLimit to 6K - OK by me
Setting Vendor Cap to 150 - No way, No how. Its hard enough to keep some Vendors stocked. Don't punish us if we want to overstock our vendor because we are going to be away for a couple of days. Maybe 500 would be Ok.
I think raising the price on the bazaar is a great idea. Even 10k would be nice. Many people do not know where to find specialty shops and thus miss out on much of what the game has to offer.
I disagree with limiting items on a vendor. People should learn how to use the dropdown lists effectively, and I don't see any monopolies developing just yet. Storage in houses is WAY TOO SMALL and a vendor is the only way to haev enough items in stock to be an effective crafter and merchant.
I think the idea of limiting the amount of items on personal vendors is pointless. Any good artisan should have many more than 150 items on their vendor. Hell, I have more than 150 items in weapons and armour and I don't sell the stuff.
I constantly have problems with the bazaar. The next items button never works for me, it never really shows a clear page of new items, no matter how many times I flip pages. I have never had that problem with personal vendors. It's gotten to the point that I would rather spend an hour flying around a planet looking through vendors rather than attempt to deal with the bazaar.
I think nerfing vendor item limits and upping the number of items placed on the bazaar is a really bad idea.
I also want to add that I hope the devs listen to the players on this issue. We're constantly seeing fixes to things that aren't broken, rather than intelligent attempts to repair known bugs, and for more than a few of us this pattern is becoming quite taxing.
The bazaar cap? I have no comment on it.
The vendor cap of 150 items is way to low. I agree there should be a limit on the vendors, but it should be more like 500 -1000 items.
Lets see what they will do.
Bazaar sold item 3K cap should remain the same:
Auction cap should change to 20K-50K
Vendor shoud not be limited to 150 items:
Do the math, composite armor has 9 pieces, it will limit number of colors you carry. What happens to other armor?
I think SOE DEVS should be more concerned about fixing the GUI vs limiting players, its cumbersome, slow and clunky.
I'm a crafter too, and I like the bazaar cap raise. Now I can place some items on the bazaar (3k was a little low for most of what I make and sell) and increase my shop's visibility.
I'm unsure about the vendor limit. On the one hand, less items per vendor will give merchants a much-needed reason for spending skill points. On the other hand, holocrons and the difficulties inherent in the resource rat race has already caused galaxy-wide cases of empty vendors.

i dont know that your still reading all these negative responses, but hopefully youve gotten the gist that people really dont want a 150 cap ![]()

I do.
You may have missed it, but it's looking like there will be an incremental cap based on the merchant skill.
I would like to see if there is some way to resell droid, vehicles and the such. It would require that the vehicle is a used vehicle not a used one. This would provide an avenue for those that had to start with a land speeder and wanted to upgrade.
The same with droids. A place to resell these would be nice.
One last item that should be allowed on the vendors would be to put pets tamed and trained by Creature Handlers. Perferable untamed so that a purchaser would have to find a CH to train the pet.
Is it possible to have some sort of category for the service industry such as scouts and rangers or others that provide services such as setting up hunting parties. Maybe a bullentin board type of thing for the resell of items. One or two per player with a small charge for posting and a limit on the time the post can be there.
Maybe something on the outside of a cantina wall or city hall?
