Actually, this is kinda nice. I think it'll encourage players who are just reading it to post their opinion without being buried.

If you've already voiced your opinion, let's try to stay out of this new thread, so that everyone gets a shot at being heard.

TH, this is an honest question that i'm hoping you'll see...

Why didn't SOE hire more dev's? You guys are obviously stretched thin btwn JTL, Publish 10, the combat rebalance and the Smuggler Revamp... You guys would be at the head of the MMOPRG race if you had the equivalent of 2 full teams working right now. Actually, you wouldn't be in this situation right now if you guys were better staffed.

Sincerely,

Then why are you still here?

With all seriousness though, I will repeat that this is a bad decision. Word is already getting out to the non-forum users and they aren't any more happy than we are about this issue.

Is the second part of the Friday feature going to be how to lose 1,000's of customers in 24 hours?

The sentiments of the community haven't changed from the last thread. This thread will continue the same as the last and once it reaches 64-pages in a couple of days, you'll have to archive this one and put a third one up.

As much as I want to be a loyal customer, this is the worst decision that could have been made. It's one thing to put development off to ensure it goes well, it's another to put development of absolute critical issues that the vast majority (non-Jedi) of players have been concerned with for the past 8-9 months. And to continually put forth "Wait for the Combat/GCW Balances/Revamps" as scraps for answers to questions and critical concerns, then to turn around and focus so much on Jedi, then delay these absolutely critical issues...it evokes a mix of emotions ranging from insult to betrayal to just hurt.

I like this game and want it to succeed, but this was a poor step, I fear.

All I got to say here is bring back the effort needed to become a Jedi...the way its looking with the revamp you may as well just let people pick Jedi as their profession at character creation. God for freakin bid anyone actually put some time and effort into grinding out professions that the holocrons gave them. BTW I love how you nimrods gave everyone a holocron for Christmas then took away the very reason for them. This game is so unfun as it is and deactivating the holos makes me wonder why I even bother logging in anymore...Can't wait for WoW to be released then there will be 2 SOE games I can quit because of the incompitence of the devs~~~

Thats all fine and dandy and i can understand that. I was just having fun reading all the responses then it goes poof. Oh well.

SOE really needs to get its act together. Ive been a subscriber since Oct of last year but only recently started really getting back into it due to time constraints and other games that had my attention. I must say after just a few months my interest is waning due to the lackluster PVP on Eclipse, the lack of added content, and the sheer number of simple bugs that you guys refuse to fix. How many SOE Coders does it take to fix things as simple as LAG, broken menus, etc...?

Jedi are cool and all, but this is ridiculous. Sure i just as much as some others want to eventually be a jedi so Publish 10 will be a nice flash in the pants till JTL comes out but i mean cmon. How can you honestly be pleased with a product that is basically in a beta phase? I beta test many games and this is by far as buggy as they come. The information is there and yet you refuse to acknowledge it. Whoever the Associate Producer and Lead Producer is for this game really needs to pull the team together and prioritze things based on your customer base. Doing this anywhere else would have resulted in bankruptcy. Your lucky you have alot of naive gamers on your side.

The suits at SOE have, in fact, greatly dimiished their chances to milk the Star Wars cow long term with this.

You've had, up to now, a remarkably loyal user base. But this decision to postpone the combat rebalance, and continue the tendency to Jedi-centrism has been the last straw. There are a LOT of SW fans who wanted a non Jedi-centered game, and thought this was it, but the developers obviously do not have the right attitude to address that portion of their player base, instead catering almost exclusively to a fraction of it. This is where the hand of management, to keep the game on an even keel, is needed, but unfortunately management at SOE is more idiotically Ferengi than even your average exec at GE or GM.

Thunderheart,

This announcement definitely marks a low point in my SWG playing career. I will wait severalweeks to see if the uproar over this decision causesSony to change its plans,if not I willbe canceling my 3 accounts. Sony has finally managed to shatter any trust I have in the SWG management's abilityto chart a successful course for this game. I will not continue to invest my time and money in a game that is destined for the MMORPG scrap heap.

The Sony-SWGorganization appears to have no idea how to successfully manage a complex software product or the relationship withits user community. Your team continues to make grand promises of sweeping changes that will solve allthe gamesproblems, while failing tomake even the simplestmodifications and bug fixes that would make the game so much more playable. For example, for over 3 months you have refused to make any fixes to combat professions choosing instead to hide behind the mythical combat revamp; you've refuse to make any changes to the smuggler profession instead hiding behind the smuggler revamp. The list goes on and on.

I do not doubt your sincerity when you come before the SWG user community to present these grand plans. Unfortunately, twenty years as a professional software developer has taught me that things don't work that way. You must be able to make continuous and evolutionary progress on many fronts while making revolutionary changes on just a few. Your team doesn't want to fix anything, they just want to blow things up and start over. Most professions have seen no improvements in over 6 months and will not see any for at least another4 months according to your plans. Players rightfully interpret these actions as a breach of trust and failure of stewardship.

I respectly suggest you (i.e. the SWG team) reconsider this course of action before it is too late. There are new games on the horizon and most of the players you alienate will not return.
