Thread: ID#2: Two Changes to Bazaars and Vendors
The Vendor item cap is a horrible idea. It's going to hurt every major Weaponsmith in the game as well as hurting armorsmiths. Lets see here, 150 item limit... 9 peices of armor per vendor, plus the bag, meaning 10 items... wow 15 whole sets of armor. and i dont even wanna remember how many types of armor their are...
Weaponsmiths... Let see here 73 different weapon types including grenades and mines... Add Weapon upgrade kits in for the smugglers... 74... repair kits... 75... Wow, for those weaponsmiths who dont have the whole merchant tree, and maybe have 1 or two vendors... might be able to keep 4 of each weapon in stock...
I myself, master merchant, master weaponsmith, master artisan. I can have what, 6 vendors? still 900 items if i understand this right. But i like keeping my weapons sorted on different vendors by types to make it easier for the customer. And my partner does the same thing. Yes we have a bit of a monopoly as thunderheart had mentioned... 2 weaponsmiths working together busting our butts keeping every weapon in stock, harvesting the resources, etc. But we work HARD for this, and now with this vendor limiting function, it's going to hurt our business as we have strived hard to create.
I try to keep 25 of each weapon type on the vendors, since SOE wont fix the randomization of the smuggler slicing skill, and peoplecome in and buy a dozen of the same weapon hoping for one max slice. And on most days, i sell out of a few types of weapons. And with the weapon changes coming in, new weapons, Novice and Master level weapons, etc... How the heck are we going to be the one stop weapon's shop that we strived so hard to create?
Lets put it this way, limiting the vendors to 150 items is a crock of bantha droppings for certain professions. For those people who worked to build a Monopoly... They did a good job. Thats what happens in a economical enviroment. Heck, i think we all use Microsoft windows here! I think it's a poor choice to punish those who worked so hard to create a monopoly. And lets put it this way, If i cant be the best supplier of weapons in the galaxy like i have been in mine for the last few months... I wont be doing it anymore. I'll take the 100's of millions of credits my partner and I have made in profit, take my resources, and go do other things which prolly wont include SWG. I dont feel we should be punished for doing so good.

I think raising the bazaar cap sets a very bad precedent. Some cretins are already asking for a 10k-50k cap? That would completely destroy the merchant profession... but I guess people don't care, that profession doesn't have any L33t-Ub3r Dodge Modz!1.
If raising it to 6k would be the end of it, then so be it. But maybe a month down the line, people would start begging for it again. You know they would, they need something to whine about.
Any higher cap, than 6k, would completely destroy the merchant profession, I say again. Even with a 6k cap, 3-6k items on smaller vendors would be obsolete. But, once again, I doubt the majority of people care about the Merchant profession.
Maybe they should hold a vote on doubling the resists of all mobs, and see how everyone else feels about crippling their profession.
Rethinking this bazaar cap raise I would have to disagree with it. I sell many goods at the 3 to 6k range on my vendors so this cap would be killing me.
Also starting crafting professions would have no where to sell their goods. The reason why is, thebazaar only has a item sell limit of 25 items. How can anyone run a business only selling 25 items. Basically by raising the bazaar cap you would be also putting a cap on sales for many non Master crafters since it would not be worth their time to get or use vendors.
Both Ideas are BAD!
Both ideas sound like aPANIC solution to a problem being faced by the devs.
Now is the time to rethink and find a real solution that won't suck the life out of this game.
I love the ideas speshialy the bizzare price rase one but maby you should, if possible, have different price caps for different types of item like maby it could be 10k for armour and 3k for generic/ clothing that kind of thing.
Hehe, thanks for the laff (wonder if he'll get it?)

Prefer 10K Bazaar Cap instead.
Prefer 300 items vendor Cap Instead. (If 150 why not 200 ? after all still 2 pages).
Would like to see better sorting functionality, sorting means, sorting multiple pages as well.

Dude that does not constitute a monopoly... Like you said hardwork
Once again TH threw a word out there just to get the kiddies shouting and agreeing under false pretense. "Ahh I wuv pwaying monopoey, yeah u, u have monopoey u bwad cwafter TH said so. HAHA UWURPWN3D"
Stupidest idea ever to cap vendors period. What the combat classes and kids don't understand (seems any who have agreed to the vendor cap in this thread haven't given any reason why, while the list is running for reasons not to) is they are not all important, without a commerce/crafting items market THIS GAME CAN'T CONTINUE... Would anyone in their right mind want to stock a vendor every 12 hours, as to not lose their reputatoin due to having empty vendors?
A note to those commenting about "just put crates on the vendor"...
Tailor specialization (color schemes) comes AFTER the choice of "Create Prototype" or "Create Draft Schematic"... so if you want 500 plain grey slacks, 500 plain grey light bustiers, 500 plain grey Healer's Robes, 500 plain grey skirts, 500....... getting the picture? No tailor in their right mind is going to sell ONLY grey ANYTHING.
Ok Devs..
You hint to problems with you database...explain!!! what are they, and how is this the fault of the consumer? We pay monies to you every month for the game, use some of the money to solve your technical issues please...ever since launch it has been db size this and db size that...which makes it a known bottleneck! when you have a problem, resolve it...Please stop spending all your efforts on wielding the nerf/change hammer, and adress the REAL problems where they lay. Ok, you state diversity, and fair market compitition, yet an armorsmith can only have 10 sets of armor on his vendor? um...let's see...1 set of each color of composite and thats it...yeah real diverse...comon guys...
You are supposed to be the best and the brightest...act like it! remove caps on resource stacks...increase crate sizes...and fix housing to hold slightly more...make factories function properly with larger runs possible, all going into one crate...stop rotating the resources quite as often, especially on things like water vapor, solar energy, wind energy, and hides...**edit**! you tell me that it makes sense to shift things like water..and wind and solar? make those steady, and it will make much more sense not only in a roleplaying standpoint, but will reduce your db sizes! Am i to believe that the gods of the SWG universe skin every animal, and replace their skin every 4 to 7 days...lets get real here...Understandably you tried to create a greater crafting dimension...and to some extent it works...but keep the idea of needing certian things for certian schematics...i.e. axidite iron, or dantooine animal bones...but stop rolling the stuff that from any standpoint..logic, roleplaying, real-life make no sense...ok all the water dried up on corillia it was called booboo...and was magically replaced last night with googoo...your killing me!
take a look at these things and see where you cqan trim the fat before attempting to hurt the crafter based economy of a game that is already in decline due to lack of content.
