Thread: IC4: Path of the Jedi
Dear Star Wars Galaxies Game Desiginers,
I have yet another jedi idea! What if jedi could choose a way of fight to specialize in like..... They could focus on just using the force and they would be able to be kinda cm for a jedi they could have stronger force lighting, can reflect lazers, flames, and lighting and when people get close they use force tka technices. There beigning title could be like Force Padwan and then when they master all the force stuff they could be Force Masters. Jedi could specialize One handed fighting would be like a basic fighting style. Double Sided fighting would focus on area attacks and blocking. Two Handed just be powerful. Twolightsaber handed fighting would focus onreflecting attacks, using the force powers, counterattcking, and doging. Making them theultimantelightsaber fighting proffession butyoumust master some stuff first.
This would mostly please everyone i think. I wouldlike it if this was added to the game.

I should like to very strongly suggest that FS skill quests be teamable, as Luke was able to utilize the help of all his friends when he was just learning his FS skills, but no Jedi trial EVER be teamable. The purpose of these trials was to hone and test the individual, and I think it would utterly destroy the continuity if squads of Jedi could go out and nuke rancors to complete their trials.
Again, CONTENT is the objective here, not another string of endless kill missions.
I like this idea very much, and would like to see content like this included in the revamp.

Crafters:A good quest for crafters would be successfully assembling a lightsaber, or successfully assembling a holocron. You could make a series of quests to findcomponents for a (training) lightsaber. Another good one would be for assembling a holocron or other force articles.
Entertainers: Entertainers could have a quest where they have to successfully entertain a crimelord to keep him from killing some kind of prisoners. As long as they keep the crime lord happy he will not execute the prisoners. Maybe put a time limit on it so there is a special strike force team on the way to rescue them and you need to keep the crime lord busy.
Combat Types: Obviously some combination of search and rescue, escort or other types of missions. Also, defeating high powered opponents (rogue dark jedi etc) will help you gain force xp or something like that.
Medics: This one is kind of obvious. There could be a medical emergency (distress call) from small camps or downed ships that require you to keep people alive for a certain amount of time. Similar to the entertainer one I said above.
Scouts: This one is kind of hard. I would say missions where you are to find certain ancient ruins or artifacts that are force sensitive objects. (Holocrons or force crystals come to mind)
I do think that there should be a mix of all of these types of missions because a jedi should be well rounded in all the disciplines.
Dynamic Light vs. Dark Content
I would like to see a difference between Light and Dark Jedi that goes beyond some application of powers. The difference in the Light and Dark philosophies was a question means and not of ends. A Light and a Dark Jedi both trying to accomplish the rescue of a prisoner would be doing so for different reasons, and their means of doing so makes the determination of whether they are Light or Dark. It does not matter whether the rescue would be for the "good" or not, as the Dark Jedi is likely doing so for their own reasons and to their own ends.
In such a scenario, the Light Jedi would likely attempt negotiation if possible, attempt to persuade or even mind trick if that option is available, and only resort to necessary violence IF it became a necessity. The Dark Jedi in the same circumstances would likely simply wade through the captors leaving a trail of death and carnage behind them, caring nothing for the suffering of those left in his wake.
The difference of ideology is paramount to the whole Jedi gig, and should be expressed in the system. It should be possible for a Jedi of any caliber to accrue both Light and Dark points based on their actions, such as slaughtering innocent NPCs in the desert for the sake of nothing more than loot, and for this balance to affect their standing in the scheme of things. It should be completely possible for someone to fall to the Dark side without realizing it, until one day they show up at an enclave and discover they are TEF to everyone they were friends to at the last club barbeque.
Moreover, this distinction should be reflected in bonuses to the use of certain Force skills/powers, insofar as Dark Jedi are about violence and domination for personal aggrandizement, while Light Jedi are supposed to be about order, equality, healing and peace.
I would very much like to see the system reflect this core concept of Jedi philosophy with the coming of Push 10.
I think it would be a very good idea for those seeking Force training to have to seek out ther trainers in remote places, just as Luke had to seek out Yoda on Dagobah (sp?). The point being that when I am trying to become a Padawan it is acceptable for me to have to search out random NPC trainers as the basics of Force manipulation are known to many cults and cultures throughout the Star Wars universe.
When I have become a Padawan and am working towards Knight, it is appropriate for me to find an NPC for the appropriate quests in my enclave where they would NATURALLY be located.
When I am a Knight working towards Master it is appropriate for me to have to seek out that one individual on some backwater planet out in the middle of nowhere, like Yoda, and appeal to them to convince them to teach me.
Moreover, there should be dynamic content involved in these quests, and not just a killing spree (though that might be very appropriate for the Dark Jedi).
I do not think that there should be any badges for Jedi of any caliber or rank. It is hard enough as it is for existing Jedi that they can be examined and pinpointed as such, but to incorporate this into an already buggy badge/title system is, to my way of thinking, absurd.
I believe that it would be much better and more on-continuity if more effort were begin directed towards keeping Jedi SECRET as they are meant to be. Even Dark Jedi do not go around making displays of their power, even when Jedi were known throughout the galaxy. And if a Light and Dark Jedi were to encounter each other in a city, do you think they would honestly break out into a full-Force combat in front of god and everybody? The stormtroops would gun them BOTH down.
How about a little on-continuity realism here? Stop coming up with more and bigger ways to make Jedi known, and let them remain in the background.
