Thread: Desired Rewards

Right now, armor is mostly useless for the high-end combat folks. Any fight that lasts over 30 seconds means u cannot wear armor, as special attacks run through your HAM as fast as the enemy hitting you.
I mean, most people I know (Master Elites in Combat Professions) wear cloaks, maybe a helm for PvP, and bodysuits/clothing. You ever wonder why that is?
Armorsmiths really don't make anything that is useful enough to overcome the penalties, and this is after months & months of some of them getting the best of the best.
This is incorrect for several reasons. First, a fight only lasts more than 30 seconds BECAUSE you are wearing armor. Second, there is always a trade off. You have to choose between strong attack and weak defense, or weak defense and strong attack. If you are incapping yourself because of special attacks, DON'T mindlessly spam them.
I had one customer come back to me very happy because he could kill any BH with his new 80% acid helmet. Why? Because the BHs were too stupid and would spam special attacks that cost more than the damage that got past the helmet. Then he would just hit them with one shot and down they went. The moral to this story? Don't expect to be able to stand there punching a brick wall all day and have it fall down.
I would rather seethe quest based on skill type, dont add 1 quest, add 1 for each class and give points for it like monthly story does for rebel and imperial if the class (and must be of class to do it)reaches a certian point level give theclass whoearns it the items with choice or stuff to fit the class, non-transferableitems. Example:an item that is tailored to mark out i completed the marksman quest or the artisian or the ect... maybe a robe or badge or piece of furniture a weapon that is purely decorationrecieved once and depending what point level was made judges what type is given and increase possibiltys from there. Make the end piece a ticket to trade for the reward when the quest is done something in those lines would draw people into doing more.I disagree with the umber loot or the one time use schemes that is just gonna make for high priced rare loot and camps of loot snipers so lower lvl players don't have a chance if it is to be something like this make it ore or steel something to contribute to stats of what exsist not what only few will ever see. I am sure you have plans for new stuff to be added, armors weapons craftable items for every artisain tree let the stuff come to everyone when it comes aviable to all, in my opinion.....I do agree with bonus skill points but base it on something to do with level and make it solo and long....no groups and only once per person this is something all can gain and it doesn't mess with anything at all. And they will be rewarded and know they achieved that no one else did it fotr them.
"Nice place"
This is the High Priest's dislplay room," Vertail said. "He is an avid collector, and very proud of his collection of rarities"."He deserves to be," Han said sincerely. The room was easily ten times the size ofHan's little apartment on the first floor. Display tables, shelves, and racks showcased treasures and antiquities from around the galaxy. Sculpture from a dozen worlds, paintings, and other art objects were scattered amid ornate antique weapons. Tapestries hung from the walls. Rugs of exquisite beauty were covered by protective force fields that felt squishy underfoot as Han walked on them. Semiprecious gems adorned the collection of pipes and other musical instruments. Bottles of the rarest liquors in the entire galaxy were suspended in a gold-embossed rack. Han's fingers literally itched for the whole time it took him to traverse the display room. If I could have five minutes alone in here, I'd be set for life! he thought wistfully as he slowed down to peer at a drreelb carved from living ice. The tiny statue was covered with a layer of dust, which was disturbed byHan's breath. It wafted up into the air, and the pilot sneezed thunderously.
Dust or no dust, this place is worth several fortunes. If only . . .

*We have these but we can't place or hangmany itemswithout stairs and much much effort!
Just a few lines from a book set in Star Wars galaxy not so long ago far, far away. . .
DON'T give us better loot but rather give us a schmatic to a better gun/armor(like the RIS quest)/items. Then we (combat people) can give the schmatic to a master armorsmith/weaponsmith/artisan and they can make the item. This way the item can be better than other craftible gunns and armor but it is still crafted so the crafters are happy. Also have the schamatic like only good for 50 items or something so crafters have something to work to as well as combat people.
EX) The carbine slug-thrower is a great idea but for such a long quest it is an average gun but if it was a schmatic a master weaponsmith could experiment it to be MUCH better and its still player made.
This can also be done with the DoT weapons that drop just have it player made then he can experiment up the duration or damage or potentcy. The options are endless and it will add more to the game since you cant predict if you will win a fight by the gun the other person has (a looted schmatic of a uber CDEF pistol fully experimented can be better than a stock FWG5).
Well, Q, hate to disappoint, but the only answer to your question is the one you don't intend to follow suit with. RPGs, all RPGs, are about loot. Most of the fun is picking up the awesome piece or armor or weapon that no one else has.
Frankly, weapons and armor (albeit rare) that are dropped should be better than the best a master craftsman can make (not uber, maybe just 50 max damage higher and .5 faster on the speed, unsliced, or equal in stats but with the fancy attachments we're seeing right now). This would not harm the player crafter economy, since a) everything decays (which means the rare loot item will eventually become worthless, and the owner will have to buy a new item to replace it) and b) they don't drop like rain.
Of course, in my personal opinion, the player crafter economy system is so broken right now, its not funny...we know from a New Hope that a low-grade starship costs just over 10,000 credits, and in this world we have decent weapons and equipment running between 5k and 30k, with the highest grade stuff going for 100k to over a million creds (which is ridiculous....it means the hardcore minority are the only ones able to get decent weapons.) So frankly, I would rather see the player crafting economy go straight to Korriban, put NPC shops in place, and get the game where it should be...questing and looting (and, yes, it works just fine in the Star Wars universe.)
as far as rewards go, I would like to see more done with "other" factions such as Jabba's and Nym's some neat stuff you can pick up and/or do.
I love the theme parks but the rewards are a little on the light side. Beef those up a bit, and expand upon them... more indepth missions.
I do agree with most though about the desire to keep it with the PC's and NPC's when it comes to items. So I think that schematics is a great idea... one use things.
Dont know if there are plans for a nice reward, but soemthing big when all the parts of Cries of Alderann are done if someone has completed all the acts they get a really nice reward.
I also agree that the economy is way out of wack, but I did find that dividing the prices by 10 gets it pretty close to where it should be... maybe the Dev's didnt want to deal with fractions/decimals
Would also like to see rewards when the one year anniversary rolls around, I also enjoy the thought of non-transferable unique clothing much like the goggles but cooler
So for thoseof us that have been around for a year can pick up some neat duds
More rebel faction perks, they current selection is a little less than exciting and/or useful
More multipart quests, I like to see quests from different people that all link together.
Another reward I thought of, somewhat along the lines of the RIS armor, is to create a "Grand Master" slot above master slots that requires a long quest to reach. Not a whole other elite-elite profession just one extra slot with some nice abilities where each class has a quest to go through to prove their "worthiness." In the real world masters are the penical but we also hear of the Grand Masters... skilled persons of legend. Just a thought.
Man... 62 pages.
I want a sidekick. Not just a creature to follow me around and help in fights, but a humanoid sidekick that acts pretty much the same way that a droid or creature does. Anything from a jawa to an ewok to a gungan to an aqualisk (but not the playable races). They are all built to be only moderately powerful, as they aren't intended to give you a big advantage in a fight. But it would be great fun. Especially if they could advance in skill and if you could give them armor and weapons to wear. They should all be ranged attackers, just performing support with pistols or something, not melee weapons. They should be able to slap themselves with a weak stimpack every few minutes too, if for no other reason than for realism.
There just aren't enough equipment powerups dropping.
Wearable containers with more than 50 slots, or wearable on other parts of the body.
Maybe for very hard quests, a permanent bonus to a skill or stat.
