Thread: IC4: Path of the Jedi
It's been said that the hologrinders will be credited with the professions that they've mastered, to help them along the path to Jedi.
I've never used a holocron (though I still have all of the ones I've gotten), and I take a bitof pride in actually playing, interacting, and being part of the community and the game world, instead of hologrinding. It's been stated, officially in fact, that hologrinding is unhealthy for the game.
Will there be some sort of credit for people active in their communities and guilds, and participate in the game and the universe, toward their Force sensitivity?

2. path to light or darkside should be calculated from conversations with these npcs, overall faction standings (ie. thug faction townspeople faction etc.), and finally the choices you make when given these quests
for example: an npc on talus tells you he senses a disturbance in the force, and sends you to endor to investigate. you recieve a waypoint in your datapad and proceed to that location on endor. when you arive you find a jedi knight dueling a sith. your character has tef against both. do you help the jedi fight off the sith? or do you wait for both to wear eachother down and kill them both?
3. some npc's may give you scavenger hunt lists you must gather in order to proceed: he may want a krayt pearl... or he may just want your flashlight. or if you're really unlucky a 2 million credit ornate rug if vader gave you a mission he might likely ask you to bring him a severed tusken head
4. when you accomplish any of these tasks, you should then be granted the opportunity to access that npc as a novice trainer... from there having to level the skill boxes of that tree as normal
5. there should also be even more difficult quests that will give a small variety of random rewards, similar to random schematic themepark rewards. These could include different, more exotic kinds of lightsaber schematics (not all lightsabers should have to do kinetic) possibly unique force abilities or weapon certifications would also be good random rewards... that way, not all jedi will follow one template.
well i have a few ideas that i thought of when i was talking to one of my jedi freinds.
At the jedi temple there should be an NCP there that starts your training to become a jedi. on the first mission you would be send to go kill a rare and hard creature that only spons when you talk to this person. You return with proof of its death and are deamed worthy to train to become a jedi. The second quest you would be sent to find a force crystal to be used in your lightsaber. this would mean that you would have to go to the froce cryastal mines and find one. After you return you are given a lightsaber crating tool and the scematic to make a training lightsaber along with a title such as force seeker or something to that effect. From that point on you MUST use the lightsaber to continue the quest. The next quest would send you to get X amount of lightsaber and jedi EXP to prove that you have what it takes to use the legendary weapon of the jedi. When you return from the quset you are given a lightsaber (1 handed and not overly powerful) along with a basic force power. At this point you have the option to succsed the NCP and start down the path to the dark side.
If you do this then you have to find some NCP on some random planet that you have to seek out with the force and is different for every player this NCP might even be a random trainer to stop the spread of waypoints. If you continue the path to the dark side then you comple some more quest that are relevent to being on the dark side then you start you FS charater as an imperial.
If you dont decide to overthrow the NCP you complete a few dilivery missions and a few destroy missions to prove your loyalty to the jedi. When you complete these you are brought before every ones favorite little jedi master Yoda for further inspection. When he is impressed along with the jedi council your FS slot is opened.
YOU MUST USE THE LIGHTSABER THE WHOLE TIME!
Force Crystals should be Quest Rewards.
The current random loot drop is amazingly frustrating and unrewarding. Crystals should be a reward for specific quests. Pearls might also be rewards.
Really Hard Quest=Pearl. Easier Quest = Crystal.
Given the amount of xp that Jedi must grind, and the amount of damage Sabers must inflict, it seems necessary to eliminate this random drop system. Maintaining customer base is dependent on keeping frustration levels fairly low (this is a game), and the current random loot system is Terribly Frustrating.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.
Ideas for Jedi quests....
...Personally I think that KOTOR had a really good mix of quests, you had moral dilemmas, investigative work, saving a downtrodden people. I think that the light-side/dark-side quests should be all thrown in as one, choosing to extinguish an entire tribe might shift you towards the dark side, whereas investigating and finding that moisture farmers are the cause of the problem in the first place would move you towards the light side. Ensure that the quests contain all the clues, but that how those clues are pieced together is down to the player.
Another good way of 'delaying' progression towards being a Jedi should be based on the Jedi 'spirit' (Glowy blue person) providing information. I like the ideas that have been suggested, but I also think that there will be a queue of people around the quest givers. It's bad enough having holo-grinders all over the shop. Here's a quest suggestion.
1) Add real riddles into the quests.
2) Ensure that the location of the quest giver is random (So that locations cannot be posted, and ensure that people work for it).
3) Make some of the requirements involve rare spawns.
4) Include the Jedi doctrines as a pay-off (Such as possessions not being important).
...and more specifically
Whole quest idea....
Player has heard of a ghost in the swamps of Naboo, this could be a superstition or a vergeance in the force. Investigating it shows nothing....unless the player waits for 2-3 minutes (Patience test), a vergeance does indeed appear and explains he was hoping that someone with 'the sight' might appear, a cryogenic chamber holding the ancient clones of sith (Back when there were loads of 'em) has had its failsafe device decay...only one presence is now there, but it must be stopped. If the failsafe fails completely the cryochamber will open. This is further complicated by a small group of outland pirates forming some kind of new cult based on the Sith legends. They too want the power of the dark-side.
This could be a unique location where only you and your party can enter.
The fun here could be that even though it is tempting to kill all of the pirates and then destroy the chamber, one or two of the pirates could be unsure of the idea as they have also heard about Jedi, this could be a moral dilemma and killing these individuals would lead you more towards the dark side.

Problem solving. PLEASE let there be a good bit of problem solving Jedi rely on their noodle. I'm tired of go here and give this to billy or go kill billy. Game developers, I'm assuming, are versed in a light of problem solving, create some we can slove and make us solve them to become jedi.
thanks
Willbie
Please if we're going to have titles just let them be like
Padawan,
Jedi Knight
Jedi Guardian
Jedi Concelor (however it's spelled)
Jedi Sentenel (however it's spelled)
Jedi Master
Dark Jedi Apprentice
Dark Jedi Knight
Dark Jedi Master
Some mission ideas I'd like to see:
1. Negotation mission: Multipart mission in which the Jedi mustnegotiate cessation of hostilities or a trade agreement between two parties. Each party will have at least one mission to send the Jedi on which may or may not have a secondary mission attached to it, ie. Jedi "a" is negotiating cessation of hostilities between Hatfield and McKoy.Hatfield is ready to make a consession but only if a certain item is retrieved from a distant planet from a dangerous lair or base. McKoy is willing to make a consession but only if a certain person can be convinced to marry his homley sister. That person will only agree if the Jedi eliminate the Hutt assassins out to do him in. These missions to include the secondaries can have different possable routes of completion, one way might be by force another might be by avoiding a fight entirely and useing other force powers such as Mind Trick, or Telekenisis, or a combination of those, still another way might simply be by skilled persuasion, for example if the correct choices in the conversation tree is made it can lead to convincing someone to the desired postion, this would require only one attempt to be available.
