The old orthodox method of training and recuiting jedi should be implemented into the game. Those who have become jedi should be able to have a radial option to check each characters "random" force sensitivity, if high enough, that jedi player can ask to take on that FS player as a padawan. There should also be a Jedi Council played by either very seasoned players who are master jedi and higher, or actual staff members of SOE who will systematically give advice and further training to those who seek to become jedi. Many feel that everyone having the capacity to become a jedi defeats the purpose. I say that if the game were to incorporate a storyline in which we see two huge armies of light and darkside jedi on a huge battlefield, both on a planetary and spatial basis, the game could open up whole new horizons and bring in a larger player base. The mmorpg method of gaming appeals to many, but combat style still does and always will be best with those who feel like "doing the work". Thus the sucess of such games as Halo, Mortal Kombat, Legend of Zelda etc. The combat system should be revamped in the case of jedi alone at first, then onto others with FPS abilities for soldiers.

This is a good idea. But you have to remember that in this era, Jedis are supposed to be isolated andunorganized. (i.e. there is no more Jedi Order)

I would post my input but I seen most of my ideas already posted.

I love the idea of having to complete bunches of quests assigned by NPCs. I think that the "trainers" should be NPCs that move about and are not always in the game so that you have to track them down but they should "frequent" certain areas. This might prevent someone putting up a strat guide with waypoints to all of the trainers and a sugggestion of what order to do the quests in. You should be able to start with contacting any one of the trainers, and when "nothing more can they teach you" they should send you in search of another contact, on another world. Also, the part about the trainers and contacts being intermittently available allows the devs to limit successes by removing a key trainer for a week or two if too many jedi/sith are popping up. This is an easy and viable solution and that way those of us that have jobs are not penalized, as it stands, the jedi probably belong mostly to people that have a ton of time to devote to grinding the professions one after another.

Although I haven't any specific ideas about what kind of quests should be done, I do thing the path should be such that any profession has the possibility of completeing it. One thought on artisan medical, and entertainer classes, it may be necessary that they "hire" some help for some more dangerous missions. After all, especially for the artisans, having moeny is a sign of prowess in their field.

Finally, I absolutely hate the idea of HAVING to master a bunch of random professions. It is the stupidests concept ever and I simply will not participate. The Holocron grinding almost led me to quit the game all together because I was paying perfectly good money and wasting my free time doing professions that held no interest for me.

Having not read much of this forum i will stick my neck out a bit and put in my opinion, it dosn't concearn the actual quests as such..more on the actual FS slot.

Some people are worried that with the jedi quests the number of jedi will swell on each server but after hearing a rumor i have an idea, somone may have already posted somthing about this but i havn't read through every message..give me a break it's 57 pages long..lol

My idea is simple..i heard a rumor that the actual FS slot was going to be changed so that you no longer get a second character but your main character becomes the jedi instead, i personally think this would be a good idea...how many people will be willing to give up everything they have worked on to get a jedi?

"Lot's of people" i hear you cry...maybe not...you see a lot of people that already have their FS slot use their main character to obtain cetrain things or provide their jedi with money in relative safety because at weekends esspecaily the number of bounty hunter around swell and jedi get a bit more paniky and hide...namely logging in other character to play...what if you took away that ability to hide, everytime you logged in the hunt would start..still want to give up everything for a jedi?

Jedi is hard enough as it is..1.5 million xp just for padawan..lol..but what if you couldn't break from it...the only way to stop the hunt is give up the path to a jedi, now i ask the question again...all you crafters that make good money...all you commando's and bounty hunters....would you give it all up for a hard life and being hunted constantly?

Ok I hope the devs are still reading this post it is rather long...

Anyways, I figure that the quests a player have to do to become a jedi should be unique to that player. The reason behind this is that if they aren't guides will pop up in no-time describing step-by-step how to become a jedi. One way to do this is to make the NPCs who give you the quests unique to each charater, i.e. at the creation of the character a number of random NPCs are selected which will give the character his quests. This will force players to explore the galaxy and ineract with the environment.

Also, the quests given by the NPCs should check what skills the character has at the moment and pick a suitable quest relating to one of those skills. For instance if a character is an artisan and medic one of the boxes in those trees is selected and the character has to use a skill obtained in that box to complete a quest. This will make the players progress with their characters and at the same time not forcing them to become something they do not want to be.

As far as quests go and what they should be it is very hard to come up with good and challangeing quests for non-combat players, especially for enetratiners (though I belive those who choose to become entertainers are probably the ppl best suited to play jedis, from a RP perspective =) ). For crafters the idea of having them make some sort of jedi related item from very hard to come by resources (they should be hard to find, and not hard to kill the mob that carries them) seems nice. For entertainers quests involving interaction with NPCs not only dancing or playing music infront off them can be an option... say that maybe they have to talk to an NPC and calm them down or something...

thats some of my ideas... probably all been mentioned before, nothing new under the sun =)

Cheers,

the way i see it so far is, most people want it to be quest oriented, however others do not want to have them be the same old combat type of missions. most want new types of missions. I also dont see a reason in getting rid of holocrons like some other people do. In fact the devs can use holocrons as a way to help keep the jedi population down. especially since most have already gotten rid of there holocron. devs can use holocrons as a directional divice of some sort. So a person gets a holocron and uses it and it tells them the planet, and the cords, but it DOES not give them a wp for the spot of where the trainer might be. The trainer should be a completely random spawn. it should also include charectors not yet used in the game so it could be yoda, for example. Yoda could be in one spot for like one month or so then moves the next, but people whom are using him as a trainer when he moves could get sent a email saying where he is yet again with no wp(wp's should not be used on the trainers location only the cords, this is so the person has to use some kind of thinking on how to find the specific trainer. every time the trainer moves, he sends an email to the people that have seen him at least once.)

people then go and do missions that allow them to get items which can be used to craft lightsabers. The final mission should be to go and talk to some people and they give the "jedi trainee"a blueprint on how to make the lightsaber, now that they have received all the things that the "jedi trainee" needs to build it, thus once this is completed the person is a padawan or somthin like that.

I also think that for most the missions there should be two ways of getting them done the quick and easy way which might involve robbing people and death which could lead to the dark side and then peaceful means by doing another favor for light side jedis.

some other people that might be used could be some jedi that like borsk'feyla (i think is how its spelled) that was a dark jedi, he could be used as a trainer, and maybe some other jedi that could be left over that are in the books or have escaped the emporers grasp. missions could include talking to a person and they tell you who to go to so they last a bit longer, and have a couple of combat missions involved dont make it only be combat, retreive a certain item, and deliver missions, you can put these in but dont overwhelm the people with these kind of missions, maybe put in some entertainer or artisan missions so the person has to get some sort of experience doing things that will have to apply to being a jedi. devs should not include a WHOLE lot of missions either, you dont want to overwhelm the people becuase some people do have lives other then the game and can not get on very often(no im just saying some people have family, work, and other things and can only get one maybe an hour a day instead of maybe 12 hours a day). This is all i have for now but hey i justhope thedevs read this far so they get to mine

I read that the path to jedi might be something like 100 missions. And anyone with a silent will only be 10-20 in to the missions. I just want to complain right now. The silent holo should count as half or more of those mission. Now for the conpenation. Lost of people have silents but for those of us over 20 we deserve alittle something i feal. Mainly because we have all been here for a long time like before the mounts and speeders. When you took away all the ch power lol.

MY point is anyone that has reached 20. Should be 90% 1-10 missions away from jedi.

im sorry that this post is going to be so counter-productive...but ive busted my rump grinding 23 and a half proessions...if im on 31 when publish 10 comes around i would expect you to say, "well, that guy has put his fun at playing this game on hold for several months, every time he sees an overt reb he craves to shoot them, but for months has bene unable to becuase he wishes to do this as a jedi, and since he has spent MONTHS paying to play the game in a way in which he does not like, i think we should just give him and everyone who has grinded more than 25 professions their slots automatically...after all, i think its really unfair to send people on this wild goose chase, and then tell them that they have to basically start from scratch. i mean really, when that guy drofrehtur hits publish 10 after grinding 31 and a half professions, how long will it take him before he even figures out where to begin with this whole quest thing?" etc etc, you get the idea!

anyways, that was a tad long winded. the point is....DONT LET THOSE OF USE DOWN WHO HAVE ESSENTIALLY PUT THIS GAME ON HOLD FOR SO LONG JUST SO THEY CAN BE JEDI. GIVE US WHAT WE HAVE STRIVED FOR FOR SO LONG...thanks

i think there should be a sailer profession. with one row fishing one row fighting in a boat one row how fast you swim and the last driving a subrine.
but to do this they should add boats and submarines. and there should be a couple of big water animals.

I believe that depending on that persons proffession will determine their quests. Such as an Architect goes on a crafting mission and after each series of quests gets schematics for building lightsabers (but only jedi can use em) and then eventually gets the title of "Jedi craftsman" for someone like a TKA they would go on destructive missions and then recieve force powers and lightsaber certifications but cannot craft their own lightsabers and would have to see a "Jedi Craftsman" to obtain one. this opens up a new breed of jedi but yes, it does stray from the concept of the Star Wars movie jedi.

Just my food for thought

I suggest taking a look at the game Jedi Academy. It has a really nice way of how one progresses to becoming a jedi. Start out by unlocking force powers one by one, to the point where you can craft your own lightsaber, to the point where you become a jedi knight

(even though the plot and Multiplayer of that game are HORRIBLE, the progression system is pretty neat)

the path towards fs should be a little more than just simple quests. if im understanding what was said int he in concept, the quests will consist of social, explorer and combat quests. I think that there should be more to them than just that. first quater of missions, say, are stupid errand running quests...talk to this guy here, bring me this from there and so on. Once those are done, said trainer begins to sense the force in the pc, so he says "talk to my friend who may be able to help you blah blah blah.

now we are at the second jedi, he tests you by giving harder missions testing you skill as a warrior or what ever profession that you are. upon completing he/she gives feels that you are ready and starts giving a series of quests that will help collect the componenets of a saber, maybe not by forcing the player to take up artisan to scan but mabye by getting the palyer to go get a rare item and trade it with another npc for a piece of metal for the saber, do that for a little bit until you have colleted enough rescources to complete the saber, upon that the the trainer gives you a saber crafting tool and the initiate proffesion
