Thread: Something odd with action shot 2's bleed
I've noticed that Action Shot 2 does an "area" effect, but it will only apply bleed to 1 of the targets, even if it hits multiple. Now the weird part is - it only applies the bleed to the target I am *not* targgeting. So If I am shooting at a Dune Bantha, and hit Action Shot 2, and 2 Dune Banthas are hit, the bleed goes on the one I didnt target.
Anyone else experianced this?
It also looks very odd, since I'll be aiming at one creature, hit Action Shot 2, and the animation shows me shooting a creature I dont have targetted.
the few times i tried it, it only started combat with all mobs in the AoE but neither did put a bleed on any of them nor did any damage, even though i got multiple hit messages floating all over the place.
so it does not have the effect of full auto area, that would be damaging all creatures in the AoE.
I Strongly , strongly, disagree with one of the last posters here :-)
Actionshot 2 has quickly become one of the most useful specials I have.
It was visiting this board that helped me to understand why I was aggroing whole nests of, sometimes, dissimilar species, such as lesser whomp rats and whomp rats.
Once I understood that action shot 2 was an area of effect, I quickly turned that to one of the most distinct advantages I have.
I had long been using the action bleeds to temporarily delay my targets.
Hit them with a bleed and, if it sticks, the prey or pursuer falls to one knee or somesuch, but, the point is, they stop!
Actionshot 1 is single target only.
In the past if I was pursued by a cluster of Dust Demons,
or had aggroed an entire nest of Sycks (sp), my only real option was to target them one after another with a bleed and hope that Burst speed was up.
Now it is entirely a different story.
If I am pursued my strategy is to line up the tailing mobs and then... Bleed them!
In situations like that, once I get the critters nicely in line and clustered in range, I spam Action shot 2!
If YOU are the predator, the special works much better, though the tactic is basicly the same; Use positioning to group the mobs,
if it is impossible to take a shot that affects the entire group then scout a retreat path, take your bleed, and use a bit of retreat to get the Mobs in line.
After they are in line, bleed them!
Once you see their progress halted simply fall to one knee, watching your HAM bars, and spam away.
In a Very short period of time most white/yellow con mobs will start falling, and xp will start rolling in (provided they are all within range when they die).
This method is very HAM intensive, to that end, I have very good stim packs and First Aid IV. In a fight with a packs of Sycks(sp) last night I earned the final 2K combat xp I needed for Bounty Hunter and used the better part of a Stim Pack - C (maybe 12 charges, maybe more). I don't believe I was ever incapped, though it was an incredibly large nest, and there were a number of close calls.
Aside from all the various exploits urging one to hunt them Kitty type creatures (Kimas, Langlathes (sp), and such), Me does think this is one O' the nicest ways to generate XP, also ... Tons of meat and hides!
Its areaeffect, it bleeds the target, it hits all other in the cone for direct damage, it makes them kneel, it costs me a measily 113 HAM total which is easily healed each 10th shot or so.

3.3k xp mobs pharmed... all the yellow dots you can see on the radar were dead in 10 mins. As you can see i heal myself and with nice mind regen im almost at full mind even tho i just healed like 15 seconds before the pic was taken. With FA4 i should heal even more per heal, but im only a casual player so that might take some days...
I just thought Action Shot 2 was a % chance of causing bleed, but if it isn't then it could be a bug.
